Title: Tokuno Treaty Dance

Author: the Drow Elves

I write this, kind friends, so that if you ever give your Honorable Word, and decide you want to break it, you can follow the example of the Empire of Tokuno, and play the music of the Mysterious Tokuno Treaty Dance!

Step 1:

Give your Word, and put it in writing.

Making a Decree Publicly

about your word will get the attention of the World. When making your Agreement, worry not about semantics, but make sure to have the pronouncement as vague as possible.

Step 2:

Fiddling with your Word. When the strength of your word is heard, and you think everyone believes you, start toying with ways to get out of what you committed to.

Start by re-examining the broad and vague word that you actually spoke. Look for loopholes that can justify you committing an actual lie, and coming out of it smelling like roses.

Step 3: Breaking your word.

Once you have determined that you will break your word, begin making accusations against everyone you want to break your Honorable Word to. Start by claiming they are doing things, that you are in fact doing, and that they need to pay the consequences of it. Make sure to maintain a bully mentality, and to try to position yourself as the Superior. If your arrogance is not enough to make you feel always in Supreme Control, then you should try meditating on the Vice of Pride (Preferably at a Tokuno Shrine, where it is most commonly acceptable). Make sure that you judge others by a greater standard than you are willing to hold to yourself.

Step 4:

Make sure people who don't know what is going on will follow you. Make sure you get a following of people to tell half truths and lies to about the situation. It is important that you not let them talk amongst themselves, much, or with the specific person you are breaking your Honorable Word to. This will make you feel better about yourself, and about breaking your honorable word.

Step 5:

Blame it on someone or something else. After you have broken your word, blame your action on someone else, like your Mother. Or, if you are unable to do so, blame it on a specific Flaw of your Own Personality, that *just* happened to occur, this one single time.

Remember, you are preaching how Honorable your Word is, so the breaking of your Word this *one* time can never get out too much, or No One will ever trust your word again!

This Essay is dedicated to Prince Morimoto Nakamura of Tokuno.

May your Word be as valuable as the last time it was Broken.
