Thirty Third Meeting of the Yew Council
From Atlantic Roleplay Wiki
Thrawn: thank you all for coming today
Thrawn: I suspect that we all might be a bit weary from yesterday's events
Thrawn: and I think yesterday's events will be the main topic for today's discussion
Thrawn: so, let me begin by thanking Dunedain for his efforts in organizing the event
Anna: *claps*
Rabulkian: *claps*
Thrawn: and let's give him a nice round of applause
Gwendolyn: *claps too*
Thrawn: *clap clap*
Thorin: *claps*
Rabulkian: *claps*
Gwendolyn: Well done, Dune!
Vargen: bravo
Rabulkian: well done!
Dunedain: thank yoou all very much
Thrawn: of course, the event would not be a success without the participation of all involved
Thrawn: so thanks to all those Guilds who showed up, on both sides of the battle
Thrawn: I think seeing everybody show up and pull together and
Thrawn: for the most part, "play nice", is a very good feeling for the whole shard
Thrawn: and I think this goes to show that with some dedication and effort
Thrawn: we can make the shard an exciting place ourselves, without having to be
Thrawn: dependent on the "green robes" to create events for us
Thrawn: and hopefully this is a good sign of things to come
Thrawn: I think yesterday's display was very good for building a sense of community
Thrawn: and for building the groundwork for cooperation for future events
Thrawn: even ones of smaller scale
Thrawn: that said, I am sure there is plenty of feedback waiting about how things went
Thrawn: so I'll open the floor for discussion... as always, please raise your hand to speak...
Dunedain: *raises hand*
Thrawn: wow that was fast
Thrawn: *laughs*
Thrawn: yes Dune?
Dunedain: sthank you all for the support I received in planning the event
Dunedain: some reports have appeared
Dunedain: on the Consensus webtome already
Dunedain: please feel free to contribute
Thrawn: yes, I was reading them
Dunedain: the more feedback we get the
Dunedain: better able I will be to improve things next time
Dunedain: I intend to take a short rest
Dunedain: assess the feedback
Vargen: you've certianly earned one
Dunedain: and start planning the next event
Dunedain: perhaps a little smaller
Dunedain: *smiles*
Thrawn: sounds good to me
Vargen: *hand*
Thrawn: just from what I've read and heard so far
Thrawn: I think the biggest criticism will likely be about unbalanced numbers
Thrawn: yes, Vargen?
Vargen: with the success of the caravan war, I'd like to start seriously organizing the
Vargen: Ranger Games-type event I thought up
Vargen: to kind of keep the momentum up and give Dune a rest
Thrawn: sounds good
Dunedain: *nods*
Vargen: I've certainly enjoyed my fair share of downtime while he's been running things :)
Thrawn: I'm sure Dune can point you towards which boards and guilds were most receptive
Dunedain: hey thats an xo's job
SunWolf: *hand*
Thrawn: yes Sun?
SunWolf: I guess I have mroe good news
SunWolf: On the web tome of ours G. Dragon stated he is goign to the fair
Thrawn: yes, I saw that
SunWolf: well he is also hosting an event or section of the uo fair
Vargen: *wishes he'd known that earlier*
SunWolf: unsure what that means but it is for us all i am sure
Thrawn: is anybody here going to the faire?
William Smit IV: I might.
Vargen: I thought about it, but decided against it...
Thrawn: *nods* me too
Gwendolyn: (not me)
William Smit IV: I'll be giving away free jester hats at my section of the faire.
Dunedain: [nay ive committed my vacation to stargazing in feb]
Thrawn: hehe
SunWolf: zym dragon
SunWolf: ronde and a few other i hear is going also
Thrawn: anybody else would like to comment on the caravan yesterday? impressions?
William Smit IV: *Raises hand*
Thrawn: yes, Will?
William Smit IV: Well, it's something else, but sure... I do have a couple things to say
William Smit IV: about the caravan.
William Smit IV: A lot of people were confused about the PvP rules.
William Smit IV: A few friends of mine were angry about the use of tamed animals for one thing.
William Smit IV: I was wondering if I could have somebody clear that up for me.
Thrawn: the rules for tamers were
William Smit IV: And the other people whom I'll pass the info onto as well.
Thrawn: tamers could not use "incredibly strong" (and unbalancing) monsters
Dunedain: I will be glad to answer
Thrawn: I believe the banned tamed creatures were dragons, wyrms, nightmares
William Smit IV: Worst I saw was a hellhound.
Thrawn: sure, go ahead Dune
Dunedain: and drakes
Dunedain: the pvp rules were specific to the event
William Smit IV: What about summoning elementals, daemons and such?
Dunedain: they went beyond the normal consensus rules
Thrawn: that was quite legal
Thrawn: summoing that is
William Smit IV: All right.
William Smit IV: That clears it up for me then.
William Smit IV: There were some looting problems too.
William Smit IV: But I think I'm familiar with the looting rules.
Dunedain: they were developed in a planning meeting in mIRC and later refined on the consensus
Dunedain: board
Gwendolyn: *raises hand*
Dunedain: I posted all of the rules on almost every boartd
Gwendolyn: *raises hand*
Dunedain: i could find
Thrawn: if you know who broke any looting rules, please, by all means, letus know the culprits
Thrawn: yes, Gwen?
Dunedain: and spent the last few days prior to the event
Dunedain: answering an endless stream
Dunedain: of icq questions
Dunedain: the rules were available
Gwendolyn: I just had some comments, when Will and Dune are done.
Dunedain: to anyone who wanted to take the time top read them
William Smit IV: I pretty much got all my questions answered.
Dunedain: we all did the best we could to get the word out
Dunedain: summoned creatures were addressed and alowed
Dunedain: includimng daemons
William Smit IV: Yeppers.
Thrawn: go ahead Gwen
Gwendolyn: Thanks
Gwendolyn: *smiles*
Gwendolyn: I thought the event went great! It was absolutely amazing to see so many
Gwendolyn: lightbringers lined up in front of the Abbey.
Gwendolyn: At the Shrine, I think there were nearly 70 people (counted it in my journal)
Gwendolyn: and I know there were a few more than that at the Abbey.
Gwendolyn: I think the battles went well, for the most part. I was at the end of the caravan,
Gwendolyn: however, and only say a few small attacks.
Gwendolyn: er, saw
Gwendolyn: The Bazaar went well, too, and I thank everyone who stayed around for that.
William Smit IV: *Raises hand*
Gwendolyn: I've read through the feedback on the Consensus board, and I have a few questions...
Gwendolyn: There are a few references to "drobing"... and I'm not experienced at all with pvp,
Gwendolyn: can someone explain that please?
Thrawn: that means killing people wearing d-rbes.. deathrobes
Thrawn: basically, killing the newly ressed and defenseless
Gwendolyn: So someone was res'd, then killed again while still in the deathrobe?
Thrawn: yes
Gwendolyn: ohhh, ok
Gwendolyn: When my group passed some orcs on the road, one was clearly wearing
Gwendolyn: leather armor, not a death robe... but he and his companion shouted something
Gwendolyn: about 'DROBES'
Gwendolyn: *shrugs*
Thrawn: hrmm
Thrawn: well, if they were newly ressed, they should have left their grey robes on
Gwendolyn: I didn't stay around to find out just what happened though, as the caravan
Gwendolyn: needed to keep moving.
Gwendolyn: *nods*
Thrawn: not much you can do about that if they remove their robes, it's impossible to tell
SunWolf: i did see a few orcs attack with the grey robes
SunWolf: i got on them it was only liek 2 thou
Thrawn: *nods*
Thrawn: anything else Gwen?
Gwendolyn: I heard reports of a few people being looted, but I really think that if 4 or 5
Gwendolyn: people were looted out of over 70 participants, we were doing fine.
- William Smit IV says Yeppers.
Vargen: *hand*
Gwendolyn: I think Dunedain did an excellent job organizing this and he clearly posted
Gwendolyn: the rules on a number of boards.
Rabulkian: Here, here
SunWolf: *hand*
Gwendolyn: We left it up to the participants to read them and their guild masters to
Gwendolyn: enforce that.. I don't know of a better way to handle it.
Gwendolyn: Again, thanks to everyone for making yesterday's events quite memorable.
Gwendolyn: I had a good time :)
Thrawn: good, and thank you Gwen for the part Trinsic played in the whole thing :)
Gwendolyn: You're welcome!
Thrawn: now, I have a lot of hands... Will, then Vargen, then Sun... go ahead Will
- William Smit IV says Hrmm...well...
- William Smit IV says Let Vargen go first.
Thrawn: okay, Vargen?
Vargen: *nods*
Vargen: this is kind of tangential but the mention of looting reminded me of something
Vargen: what does everyone think of the idea of carrying a quantity of gold at battles...
Vargen: like this?
Vargen: kind of as a "bounty"
Vargen: so that there actually is somethign at stake
Vargen: but not too much
Amber Goldenrod: I was carrying some for that intent.
Amber Goldenrod: But didn't know if that was in t he plan or not.
Thrawn: that's an interesting idea
Anna: *raises hand*
Vargen: maybe have everyone carry a specially colored bag, with contents agreed upon
Vargen: beforehand by all sides
Vargen: think of it as a wager on the outcome of the fight
Dunedain: *makes notes for next event*
Vargen: then allow looting of only that bag...
SunWolf: *hand*
Vargen: that's pretty much the whole idea
Thrawn: Sun?
SunWolf: the consesus refected on that idea sometime ago
SunWolf: it will sort fo work but only if everone knows the rules
SunWolf: i forgot why it didn't work thou
SunWolf: everyone that was looted in the carvan
SunWolf: was after they went to bones
SunWolf: passer bys can do that
SunWolf: the lack of resers was the #1 problem with the looters
Rabulkian: *nods*
SunWolf: i couldn't even read who looted once it goes to bones also
SunWolf: and some of the orcs resing and attacking again
SunWolf: i let a few cause of the uneven odds
SunWolf: the good guys were all spread out
Dunedain: *was lucky it was his neighborhood so he knew where the wandering healers were*
SunWolf: the ending party had fun with the 3 orcs attacking
SunWolf: instead a bunch of dead bodies
SunWolf: but a few others left the robes on
SunWolf: whcih was wrong
SunWolf: thats all the resers hurt the looting
SunWolf: no one could get resed
SunWolf: thats all
Vargen: someone should have been gating to the britain healers
Thrawn: Will ?
Vargen: or some other place to res
- William Smit IV says What I have to say I would've said to ye, Thrawn, after the meeting....
SunWolf: something we need to add next time
Vargen: *nods*
- William Smit IV says But it's very important.
- William Smit IV says So I thought I'd present it to everybody.
- William Smit IV says As a few of you know I ran for Mayor a while ago.
- William Smit IV says But, I'm not interested in that anymore... Being Mayor and all.
- William Smit IV says But I still want to be a part of the Yew guild.
- William Smit IV says Windlord thought it a good idea when I asked him, and I think I could do it.
- William Smit IV says I was wondering if you're looking for a Vice-Mayor.
Thrawn: well, the spot has been vacant since Pyros has left
Thrawn: but hadnt you already joined the Trinsic council Will?
- William Smit IV says Yes....
- William Smit IV says I guess I can't be in two Councils.
Gwendolyn: *raises hand*
Thrawn: yes Gwen?
Gwendolyn: Thrawn, what are the requirements for Vice Mayor of Yew?
Thrawn: strong dedication, a solid track record, a measure of dignity, and free time
SunWolf: lets run electiosn for vice mayor
William Smit IV: Elections....
SunWolf: ride off this caravan
Gwendolyn: How do you select a Vice Mayor, Thrawn? Is it by appointment or election?
SunWolf: sine we have teh attention
Thrawn: in the past, the Vice Mayor for Yew has been appointed
Thrawn: we haven't always had a Vice Mayor actually
Thrawn: I think we've only had 2 in our history... 3 maybe
Gwendolyn: And if someone is interested in the position, but a member of another Council
Gwendolyn: at the moment, what then?
SunWolf: i don't think you can cross councils
SunWolf: like the trinsic and yew war
Thrawn: well, it's a bit of uncharted terriroty to be honest, but the idea of
SunWolf: what do they do then
Thrawn: someone leaving one council just because they could earn a "better title" in another
Thrawn: does not sound appealing to allow
- William Smit IV says I don't care for titles.
Gwendolyn: Maybe it's not the title, but the opportunity...
- William Smit IV says Dean of Arts sounds better to me anyway than Vice-Mayor...
- William Smit IV says But it's the job entitle that intrigues me.
SunWolf: it is also if both town shave events same time
Gwendolyn: Auren Therion was induction as a member of TCoH one week before he
Gwendolyn: was selected to be Mayor of Britain.
Gwendolyn: He still has membership in both Councils....
- William Smit IV says I had to go through many months of being a student, teacher, and so forth to be Dean.
- William Smit IV says But that doesn't matter to me.
Thrawn: well, like I said, it's a bit uncharted territory for us
Gwendolyn: I ask mostly because the TCoH is in the process of setting up such guidelines
Gwendolyn: for selecting officers.
Gwendolyn: Uncharted for us, too, I think.
Thrawn: well, my belief is that promoting from within seems to make the most sense
Thrawn: especially when you have a good group who work hard within the organization
SunWolf: a mayor and vice mayor takesa lot of work and deditcation, to add on other jobs
SunWolf: from other guilds or councils will slow them down doign the job fully
SunWolf: in all the fields
Thrawn: did anybody else have a hand up I missed?
Dunedain: Anna
Thrawn: yes, Anna?
Anna: I forgot what I was going to say.
Dunedain: hehe
Thrawn: oh, sorry
Caillean: *laughs*
SunWolf: i think will is part fo the yew council anyway
SunWolf: a great help to us all
- William Smit IV says I've been involved with it as much as I can.
- William Smit IV says Well, I know I can do it, but I don't want to leave TCoH.
- William Smit IV says So I guess I'll just stay where I am.
Thrawn: does anybody else have anything to add?
- William Smit IV says I'll try my best to do what I can.
Anna: *raises hand*
Thrawn: Anna? it come back to you?
Anna: No are we on new topics yet?
Thrawn: we are on new topics if you want
Anna: Thank you yes I havea question maybe you can can help me with.
Anna: As you know or if you don't I try to encorgage all students to be a part of Yew.
Anna: Since they bascially grow up here.
Anna: Well I was asked by MTC if I send some Mage students to them.
Anna: And as of late I am quite confussed by Moonglows actions.
- William Smit IV says The Yew Militia needs some troops.
Anna: Has anyone been reading the tombs?
SunWolf: fill us in please
Dunedain: yes
Dunedain: \I commented on it
Anna: I read one three times to make sure i red it right.
Anna: Moonglow is no longer serving Lord British.
Dunedain: the latest response by Malaicite makes it even more confusing
Anna: Thier harbours are closed.
Vargen: I knew they were sympathetic to the Council of Mages...
SunWolf: did they say why?
Anna: I am told too this has nothing to do with the factions.
Anna: Moonglow seems to be shuting herself off.
Dunedain: and yet Greypawn gave his reason
Dunedain: for leaving the BWC
SunWolf: thrawn
Dunedain: as its close ties to Lord British
Dunedain: seems a facton oriented move to me
Anna: What reason can he possible give to no longer sever the Laws of Lord British.
Anna: No he said it was not.
Anna: Has nothing to do with the factions.
Dunedain: only reason could be factions
- William Smit IV says This could affect Moonglow's connection with the HoA if they don't serve LB.
Anna: GreyPawn said himself its not a faction move at all.
Dunedain: Malicite stated they were remaining in the consensus
SunWolf: *hand*
Dunedain: but they have threatened consensus guilds against con rules
Dunedain: extremely confusing
Thrawn: yes Sun?
SunWolf: i was asked sometime ago
Anna: Could someone possible find out whats going on?
SunWolf: and with this goin gon
SunWolf: i liek to be asked to fill the ambassitor job
SunWolf: and return active in yew
Dunedain: I nominate Sunwolf for ambassador
Gwendolyn: *smiles*
- William Smit IV says Hear, hear! Sunwolf the Envoy!
Thrawn: thank you for the offer
Thrawn: I don't see any reason why that wouldn't be acceptable
- William Smit IV says *Raises hand*
Thrawn: yes Will?
- William Smit IV says Now this is just a suggestion....
- William Smit IV says But if I was to say be in no Councils, and asked to be Vice-Mayor, what would
- William Smit IV says ye say to that?
Thrawn: I would have to ask you to fill out an official application
Thrawn: and consult with other members of the Council about it
- William Smit IV says Application, eh?
SunWolf: will your in no way being turned down
SunWolf: it just isn't fessable a mayro or vice is a single guild job
SunWolf: ask gwen how much time she puts in trinsic or thrawn
- William Smit IV says I know them well enough.
SunWolf: you will be burned out in no time
Gwendolyn: Will is free to resign from TCoH if and when he wishes.
- William Smit IV says I know about leadership... I've had to do some leading in places other than Britannia.
- William Smit IV says But I shant get into that.
Thrawn: does anybody else have any comments before we bring things to a close today?
- William Smit IV says One more thing.
Thrawn: yes Will?
- William Smit IV says Is there an application on the skypage, so that I could I apply/
- William Smit IV says ?
Thrawn: no
Thrawn: it is done via email
- Thrawn says it is done via email
- William Smit IV says Hrmm...
- William Smit IV says I'll need some time to think about this.
- William Smit IV says My time isn't very free at all.
- William Smit IV says But it might be in the future, but I have to be sure I'd have the time to do the job.
Thrawn: anybody else?
Gwendolyn: *raises hand*
Thrawn: Gwen?
Gwendolyn: I'd just like to announce that the Trinsic Council now meets at 8pm eastern time,
Gwendolyn: instead of 7pm. Still on Sundays in the Trammel Trinsic Meeting Hall.
Gwendolyn: As always, everyone is invited.
Gwendolyn: Thanks!
Anna: *makes note to attended*
Thrawn: thanks
Thrawn: okay, thank you call for coming
Anna: Thank you Mayor.
Thrawn: and thanks again to everybody for making yesterday a success!
Thrawn: good day all
