Title: The Rise of the Citizen

-The following is a declaration by the Light.-
I am Torchlight.
This is my goal: the establishment of a leadership body, transparent in all function, and dedicated solely to the advancement, prosperity, safety and well-being of the citizens of Britannia.
That is my goal. This is how it can be done.
By looking to the way a torch can illuminate a dark room, or to the way the sun dispels all shadow as it blazens it's morning trail, we can mirror the action of that Light and apply it to our lives. We can apply this to government by instituting policy that not only makes the government's decisions publicly visible but that relies on the citizen for input and decision making.
Each citizen in this realm is capable of such wonderful things; from Minoc to Skara Brae, from Luna to the far reaches of Ilshenar, everywhere I have walked I have witnessed your splendor.
Thus, I will call to convention the citizens of these realms, without restriction or exclusion. Any may attend, speak, and voice their minds. The outcome of these conventions will be a governmental body created by the citizen to serve the citizen. By convening on the topics of the justice system, trade and economic growth, science and knowledge, defense and public peace, history and record keeping, the arts, diplomacy and state recognition and resource management, we can begin to put together the pieces needed to see this government constructed.
I will do my best to help and guide you, but ultimately it is up to you. You see, my friends, there will always be a need for a leader and leaders. What we must do is see that their actions are visible and that for their actions they are held accountable. By instituting such policies we not only can see the replacement of the failed governing body known as the Regency, we can assure our children, and their children, that such a state will never rise again on the soil of these realms.
The dissolution of the Regency will mean that an interim government will be formed while the conventions are held, and while the final treatise outlining the new ruling body is written.
This is not a time to seek revenge. This is not a time for a self-serving organization to attempt to seize a power that belongs to the citizen. The Light will illuminate all such attempts. Those who take advantage of the interim can only be considered as treasonous, but not against a state or a nation.
It is a treason committed directly against each and every citizen.
The Light's rays will not only illuminate. They will burn.
I will be personally seeing to the creation of several programs that are meant to not only facilitate the process of convention but to provide a model of what a government can achieve and what a ruling body can do for the citizen. If this is what the meager resources of the Light can do, imagine what the resources of a nation can achieve.
The Light will see the creation of a mail service available to all of Britannia. This service will be provided free to all citizens, helping bolster our community and allowing for long lost parties to communicate with each other. The method of implementation has already been developed, and very soon it will be open to everyone.
