The HoA's Mission and Vision Posted Sunday, March 17, 2002 by Aleph Aeirs

These four cornerstones of the HoA's mission and vision will direct the actions of every Oracle, Sage and Herald in the months and years to come. I encourage every member of the HoA to ponder these goals and find ways to integrate them into your work throughout the realm.

Support of Town Councils

Each Sage, and their Heralds, will support the organization of true Town Councils of Virtue. This work will be executed in cities where there is no established councils, as well as cities that have a rich history of lively and vital councils. In the past we have wavered on this task, but no more. Let us support the organization efforts of the Children of Light. It is the goal of the HoA to inspire citizens in our realm to commit themselves to civic duty. This will be our strength, this will be a corner stone of our work in the realm.

Support Education

Each Oracle and Sage will make a personal commitment to supporting educational events in our realm. We will host classes in buildings specifically engineered for presentations and discussion groups on topics not limited simply to the Virtues, but on the vast array of important and interesting topics of our time. This will include support of any educational institutions that request or require it and specific educational events that are unique to the HoA. This will also include the dissemination of literature to the young people of our realm. Texts that outline the goals and aims of the HoA, texts that support and espouse the Virtues, and texts that inspire the young to incorporate their own visions of community into the greater mission of the Heralds of the Awakening.

A large piece of the corner stone of education is our publishing house, the Bell, Book and Candle. We will throw every piece of our energy behind this project to see it to fruition. We will accept submissions from the realm at large in an attempt to shine a light on the ideas, philosophies, and trends of our combined culture. Even if these philosophies are contradictory to our own.

Support Community Building

Members of the HoA will be encouraged to play leadership roles, and inspire others to play leadership roles, in the events and organizations that define our culture. We will work together to support established, and yet to be established, guilds, organizations and events. We will encourage, and support the efforts of the realm to create platforms for the advancement of social and cultural interaction. This corner stone represents our acknowledgment that the realm as we know it must support inclusiveness for all Children of Light, regardless of their particular social designations. It acknowledges the reality that a life of meaningful social interaction and cultural enrichment is an endeavor of the highest order.

Support of the Health and Well Being of the Realm

The establishment of our Hospice Network, and our flagship hospital, the Healing Hand, is complete. It now falls to us to encourage others to utilize these buildings for their intended purpose. The best medical and medicinal minds of our realm must be supported to do their good works, and the Hospice Network is the means to that end. We must support the advancement of medicines and technologies that will encourage the growth of a community of healers and physicians. We must research cures for maladies both common and uncommon, and we must offer our services to any and all who require them, regardless of their ability to cover expenses, or their personal philosophies as it relates to the Virtues. This cornerstone affirms the HoA's commitment to a holistic approach in our vision of the Virtues in action.

And so these are the four corner stones of the HoA. These are the measurable, quantifiable actions that determine our success and failure as an organization. Although the wheels are already in motion, and although these cornerstones already exist and serve as the pillars of the HoA, your input and questions are always welcome.

Training of Heralds Posted Tuesday, October 2, 2001 by Analeiza

Greetings Friends,

As discussed during our last meeting, HoA will be working with the Wilmeth Academy to train any would be Heralds. Each potential candidate will be required to complete a curriculum of ten classes consisting of the following:

An introduction to the Virtues A class on each of the eight virtues An introduction to HoA

All Sages are required to teach a class on their virtue and submit a course outline for that class. Before scheduling can begin with this curriculum, these course outlines must be submitted. These outlines should be indepth enough that a person with general knowledge on a virtue can successfully teach the class in the Sage's absence.

Please send these course outlines to analeiza@wilmeth.org no later than Saturday, October 6th.

I thank you in advance for your prompt attention to this matter.

Non Sibi Sed Toti,

Analeiza

WebTome Updates! Posted Sunday, September 30, 2001 by Aleph Aeirs

Greetings friends!

As we endeavor to become more organized, you will find that many of our Sages and Oracles will be sharing more news via this resource. Any news shared here will also be shared on our mailing list (more information on the list can be found in the previous news post).

When it comes to what is shared here on our front page, most anything goes. This can include stories and posts shared from message boards, original stories created by our members, perhaps a call to action or even a request for assistance related to a special project.

Whatever the case may be, we hope to see more and more of our members interracting more often and sharing what they are doing to support the mission and vision of the Heralds of the Awakening. So share your stories and ideas, we look forward to reading them!

Yours in the Light,

Aleph Aeirs

Repost from the List -Expectations of Members Posted Tuesday, March 27, 2001 by Aleph Aeirs I want to take a moment to address some personal concerns I have in relationship to behavior and the HoA. Here are the expectations for everyone involved in the organization.

1. All Members of the HoA need to have the HoA tag in their title at all times.

2. When engaging the communtiy on the message boards, poor behavior and outright slander will not be tolerated from any member of this organization. Things are not always as it seems in our realm, jumping to conclusions and attacking people for a percieved injustice or wrong doing is counter productive.

3. The decisions you make as a member of the HoA reflect on the HoA as a whole. When you signed up to be a part of this movement, you did so with the understanding that you were getting involved with something larger than yourself. What this means is that you cannot, as a member of the HoA, make decisions that will reflect badly on the HoA, then expect no one to have any commentary on it. If the responsibility of diplomacy, tact and cooperation is beyond your scope, then I ask you to rethink your association with the HoA regardless of your station.

4. All members are expected to deal with our challenges and troubles with professionalism and tact. It is entirely innapropriate for members of this organization to attack or villify any other member of the HoA. There are a thousand different ways to address concerns, veiled insults and petty bickering will not be the way we do business. Call for an investigation, contact the party in question, speak to an Oracle, but do not, ever, attack another member on any message board. Again, if this is beyond your scope, I encourage you to reconsider your affiliation with this organization.

This is going to be a difficult time for the HoA, and for me personally. And difficult times call for leadership, the very reason that this organization was created. Each one of you has been accepted into the HoA because of your leadership skills and your role in the community as a builder. Commit your loyalty, energy and time to creating a strong organization, or move out of the way for those of us who are still commited to the ideals of the Awakening.

To some this may sound harsh, and for that I apologize. I hope that to most this makes sense, because these are not polite suggestions. If the HoA is going to grow and change to meet the needs of our membership and the greater community we have to change the way we as individuals relate to the mission and vision of the HoA.

I encourage your comments and perspectives on this. Please adjourn to the private forum for more indepth discussion on this issue.

Yours in the Light,

Aleph Aeirs
