Title: The Fate of Men

Author: Merlin the wizard

In the east, there was a man who was walking in the market of Trinsic when he came face to face with Death himself. The man noticed an expression of suprise on the ghoul's horrid face, but they passed one another without speaking a word. The man was quite frightened, and asked the wise man of the town of what he should do. The wise man concluded that Death had probaly come to Trinsic to get him the next morning.

The poor man was so horrified at this that he asked if anything could be done so that he could escape. The only way they could think of between them was that the victim should ride all night to Vesper, thus eluding Death and his bringings.

So this man did ride all night to Vesper. It was a horrible ride, with Trolls hunting him down every step, and murderers hiding behind every tree beside the road. When then man finally did manage to reach Vesper, he strolled past the bank the next morning.

Congratulating himself on eluding Death, he was right then confronted with the specter himself. The ghoul then said that he had come for him, and he must go. The terrified man exclaimed, "WHY?! I though I just met you in Trinsic yesterday."

Death replied, "Exactly. That is why i looked so suprised-for i had been told to meet you here today in Vesper..."

So it is no good trying to avoid one's destiny. No matter how hard a person tries to, what is pre-ordained will turn out in the end.
