A Cold Existence

Translated by Andion Darkcrow

I have succeeded and yet I find myself disappointed.

I utilized bones of the lesser priests who had been entombed with my ancestors, used them to bring their souls back without a physical form. I was able to use the ties between their bones and their soul to recall their spirits from the afterworld. No mere shreds of a soul were these, but the soul in its entirety. They returned as specters and wraiths, possessing the magical abilities they enjoyed in life. They were more difficult to control, but they were better able to communicate. From them, I learned these forms are a cold existence. They lamented their state, preferring to return to the dreams of death. It seems roaming the world in spirit form would be undesirable for me. Nevertheless, it does open up new possibilities.

What if my spirit could remain, even were I to suffer a mortal wound. Could my spirit overcome catastrophic damage to my person? If a spirit can exist outside the body, could my spirit hold together my weak and failing flesh, allowing me to heal myself? Printed by Scribes of the Twilight Fellowship
