Speaking With Oracles
From Atlantic Roleplay Wiki
Title: Speaking With Oracles
Author: Various EM's
Oracles are used to provide valuable story exposition through branching dialogue.
On Atlantic, oracles will _always_ respond to these words: hello, name, job, and bye.
Additional keywords will be found throughout their dialogue, denoted by CAPITAL LETTERS. It may be helpful to write down these words and who said them as related oracles may respond to them without them being explicitly revealed in their own dialogue.
Some oracles may request items for their information. Simply drop the item onto the oracle to trigger their speech. (You will NOT get the item(s) back!)
A few things to note:
-Oracles who shout text periodically will _NOT_ respond to keywords.
-Terrain and proximity to the oracle may impede conversation, try repositioning then speaking again.
-Oracles can occasionally become overwhelmed by the number of speakers and may miss some keywords; please do not spam them repeatedly. You may need to wait for a lull to get a response.
-Some oracles may have easter egg keywords based on their past, their surroundings, their worn equipment and words related to shard-specific and\or global events. Be diligent.
-You may have to speak to an oracle, or a group of oracles, multiple times to get the full story.
-Some oracles might be lying in their responses...
If you find yourself at a loss speaking to an oracle, speak to your fellow players about their conversations. If an oracle isn't working, please email your EM with the oracle's name and general location.
Above all, have fun!
