Title: Magic and the Gods

Author: Azieef the Wise

For ages, it was thought that magic was wind. However, through years of study and travel, and through visions most horrendous, I have learned the dread truth.

Magic is granted by various gods. While the laws of magic are the same for all non-monstrous spellcasters, the source of their great power comes from the gods.

Those Who Wear The Robes, who help the people of character of the one who wishes their help, and their whims.

The Guardian, He Who is Unbalance, often lends his power to those who worship him, who include the liches and orc shamans in their numbers.

Those evil races that don't worship the Guardian, or Wargod as he is called by the more primitive, may be knowingly or unknowingly granted power by his brethren, many of whom have been old long before Zog was born, when man was feasted on by the Baagh-tu.

The magic of the people who are seemingly independent of temple or cult may be granted by a yet unknown entity, who grants his favors at random, and simply observes. However, the magic of the madmen known as PeeKays may be unknowing granted by N'yar'lat'hotep, The Crawling Chaos and Messanger of Dark Gods, who delights in spreading pain and chaos to this world.

Indeed, the Followers of Armaggeddon may worship him, or his brethren Azathoth or Yog-Sothoth. For remember this, the blackrock they seek can be used to open a gate to unguessable realms, from which a darkness greater than the deepest dungeon may spread.

Any who follow in my footsteps to learn the true nature of the world must take care, for the safety of your own mind alone. Those who would keep this knowlege forever hidden are a lesser matter...

Lies lies all of it...
