Gargoyle Assaults

Ah, where to begin? My fellow Militia members, I am unsure how many of you have been following the recent series of gargoyle attacks in Felucca. I know that I have done little research into this subject unitl very recently. However, I do wish to inform all of you on some ocurrences late last night that bear upon the security of Yew and all of the realm.

I was on a routine patrol of the Eastern Yew forests, alone except for my faithful steed, Wolf. Having found nothing out of the ordinary, I rode towards Serpent's Cross Tavern with visions of a few mugs of ale to warm my bones before I continued on to the Lost Order's village and Rivendell, the sites of past gargoyle attacks. Nearing Serpent's Cross I spied a couple followers of the Ebon Skull skulking in the garden. I purposefully strode past their spectral forms into the Tavern to discover a gathering oddly large for so late an hour. Apparently I had arrived moments after the end of another gargoyle assault, for while no gargoyle corpses lay about, the bones of Gregory Ironhand lay still decaying on the Tavern's porch. Seated about the benches on the Tavern's porch were Ironhand, Windlord, Molly, Loki, and a few others. I seated myself in a corner to listen to their discussion. I learned that two attacks had already occurred, one at SCT and one elsewhere. Ironhand spoke of the odd plants south of Trinsic that had also been the center of gargoyle activity. Apparently his daughter had made some kind of discovery about the nature of the plants ... something about some kind of healing property they held. Gregory Ironhand soon took his leave while others, including Aleph Aeirs of Rivendell and Kerry and Galdir Aerios of the elven nation, arrived to discuss these latest developments.

Suddenly a young knight burst into the tavern, out of breath and seemingly panicked. He rushed to tell us that Evermoore was under attack at that very moment. Molly summoned a magical gate to the shores of Evermoore (93o 15' S, 40o 0' E), and all those gathered rushed forth to aid in the battle.

A sight I have not seen in a long time greeted us on the other side of the portal. A gargoyle horde had descended upon Evermoore. Before I could get an idea of the size of the gargoyle force I was swept into mortal combat with a number of red gargoyle drones and a green gargoyle mage. The battle raged for quite some time when I saw Azalin of BSE and Molly standing near a blue gate beside Evermoore's tower. They seemed to belive that the gargoyle force was being reinforced through this gate. After learning that we could not dispell the gate we decided to take the offensive. Not knowing what would greet us on the other side, we stepped through the magic doorway and arrived to find what appeared to be a camp. Bedrolls lay sprawled about the jungle floor as far as the eye could see. I quickly realized that we stood not far from the ruins (105o 49' S, 36o 4' E) that the odd plants surrounding the gargoyle attacks called home. At that moment Molly came to a realization ... the color of the plants seemed to match the colors of the gargoyle warriors. Perhaps the plants were in fact the gargoyles in some primitive form? Perhaps someone was growing gargoyles in the soil of the jungle?

The other defenders of Evermoore soon joined us in the Trinsic jungles, blades now clashing on two fronts. Once Evermoore was secured the majority of the fighting centered around the odd ruins and the gargoyle camp. Once we gained enough ground to approach the actual ruins, we found an even more terrifying sight. A blue vortex unlike any I have ever before seen swirled in the center of the ruins where a blue shimmer of sparkling light had once been. Out of this vortex came more gargoyles, including gargoyle knights and a golden-hued gargoyle champion. As I fought alongside the others against the gargoyle champion a shadow, dark as midnight, arose behind us to the sound of howling souls. I looked over my shoulder to see a Balron crush one of the warriors of light in a single blow.

After an endless struggle, the combined might of warriors and mages brought the dark daemon low and the gargoyle tide dried up. We quickly did away with the gargoyle stragglers and, after a few brief discussions, I made my way home to the soundest sleep I have had in many a moon.

Last nights events created more questions than answers. But the one point I clearly understood is that our realm is under attack. Now more than ever, as these gargoyle hordes randomly attack locales ranging from our own Yew woods to the crimson shores of Evermoore, unified action is called for. I urge all men and women of the Militia, as well as all defenders of the virtues, to seek out the source of this mysterious threat and end it.

Yours in Justice
