This Reality is created. The universe is formed, composed of countless stars and innumerable worlds. Among them, a star with nine planets, one of which is a blue world with two moons circling it. Life appears upon this world, soon humans inhabit the planet along with other creatures. Physical manifestations of dimension Xorinia also appear, they are named wisps.

Humananity flourished. It is believed to have created a fairly advanced society. Unfortunately, this time was brought to an end when the wisps provided the spell known as 'Armageddon' to a meer named Zog.

Whether it was mearly given in trade as an example of the extent of the wisps’ knowledge, or purposely given knowing it would be used to destroy all life cannot be known. Only the wisps themselves would know for certain. Zog subsequently employed this spell, eradicating all life from the face of the planet.

The whole of the world became barren and lifeless. The history, the races and the name of the ancient world is forgotten and lost for all time. Only wisps know how many lonely eons passed until life rose anew on this world. Millenia passed until finally the first sign of life appeared on the world since Zog cast Armageddon. It is said that this first new life was the Ancient Yew Oak sprout, though one can only imagine how this could be known. Slowly, life once again flourished on this world. A race of towering beings with only one eye, known as Cyclops, inhabited the world. Barbaric humans, along with other races, eventually arrive on the ancient world. The method of their arrival is unknown. Possibly moongates. The humans began to form tribes, and communities.

There was much friction and fighting between the Cyclops and the Humans. Eventually, the Humans overcame the Cyclops, and drove them underground. After a time, the world was given the name of 'Sosaria', and it's twin moons were dubbed 'Trammel' and 'Felucca'. The other races - elves, dwarves, and bobbits- also formed communities, but their numbers were small. The gargoyles also inhabited this world, but lived underground, largely unknown to humans. Humans left their ancient continent of 'origin' and spread across the globe.

Five lands altogether were inhabited and settled. These lands will later became known as Akalabeth, Ambrosia, the Lands of Danger and Despair, the Lands of the Feudal Lords, and the Lands of the Dark Unknown. Magic was once again discovered and the Cult of Runes formed. Many towns were built. A group of powerful rune cult mages built the Tower of Knowledge and the Pillars of Protection. At some point, the Cult of Truth was founded. Their order was composed of mystic healers. Their headquarters were located in the depths of the Stygian Abyss, where they oversaw the training of the Cult of Runes initiates.

Members of their order traveled among the ancient towns, offering their powers for healing. In these ancient times the various lands were ruled by squabbling self proclaimed kings. The Lands of Danger and Despair were ruled by Lord Shamino and the King of the White Dragon. The Lands of the Dark Unknown were ruled by Lord Olympus and the King of the Black Dragon. The Lands of the Feudal Lords were ruled by the lords of Castle Rondorin and Castle Barataria The Lands of Aklabeth were ruled by King Wolfgang and "The Lost King" (the tradition of the land demanded that the king cast off his name. Traditionally this land is called the Land of the Lost King.)

The Order of Truth settled upon Ambrosia, creating the Shrines of Truth for each source of power (Strength, Intelligence, Wisdom and Dexterity) Other people studying dark magic formed the Order of Circles. There were 9 circles of magic. The chief of this Order, Selzhanik, is also the sole keeper of the Ninth circle of magic. King Wolfgang of Aklabeth has two sons; Menton, his first born, and Mondain, his second son.

Richard Cantabrigian arrived in Sosaria through a blue moongate, and met Shamino, who gave him the nickname 'British'. They became the best of friends. In time Shamino introduced British to various court advisors, who were impressed with the teenager's knowledge of justice, government and law. British soon settled himself in Akalabeth, which was ruled by the good King Wolfgang.

Menton and Mondain were being trained in the ways of sorcery by their father. Eventually, as his knowledge grew, Menton left home to study at the Tower of Knowledge. Mondain's knowledge of the arcane arts also grew, Mondain started to experiment with his power over minor creatures, controlling their minds, and their actions even killing them on whims. Mondain coveted a mystical gem of great power which was in his father's possesion - the Sun Ruby. However, the Sun Ruby, which actually harnessed the power of the sun, was meant as an inheritence for Mondain's brother, Menton.

A comet passed through the Sosarian skies at this time. Oracles prophesied that darkness would soon befall th lands of Sosaria. Wolfgang's second son had an evil heart.By the age of 15, Mondain's strange ways had become a worry to his father, and he told the youth he must take a year off from studying magic, and spend this time instead studying at an abbey to learn compassion and humility. King Wolfgang promisd Mondain the Sun Ruby as his reward if he would learn well the virtues taught at the abbey and embrace them. But Mondain would have none of it. The very next night, Mondain killed his father, and took the powerful gem for himself. Menton, Mondain's brother, returned from the Tower of Knowledge and confronted Mondain, horrified over his father's murder. Some say Mondain banished his brother to another world, others say he simply killed him on the spot. Menton's fate, to this day, is still not known. With the death of Wolfgang, the kingdom advisors looked for a successor to the kingdom of Akalabeth. None, of course, were found. British, along with other advisors and council members, maintain the kingdom of Akalabeth under the direction of The Lost King. Mondain began to use his father's gem against itself to produce a black jewel that would render him virtually immortal.
