Title: Ethereal Sensitivity

Author: Tobias Xaranthal

There is a condition that some develop, regardless of race, class, or karma. To understand this condition, one must understand the existance of the ether. The ether is the mystical energy which flows to this world from another plane of existance, the ethereal plane, or void.

The ether is everywhere, and mages are masters of manipulating the ether to do their bidding. When a mage manipulates ether, this phenominon is known as "magic".

Some individuals are born with an inherant sensitivity to the ether. This sensitivity is not believed ti have any impact on the intensity or quality of spells cast by such people, but more research is needed. It is difficult to distinguish such people form others. In stromg cases, when strong emotions are felt by such individuals, their eyes usually glow or shine with a bluish white light. These strong cases are known as:

Etherioptical Luminescence.

Cases of this particular condition are rare. In very rare cases of ethereal sensitivity, the ether may cause the subject's hair to grow a bluish or blue colour. Theories are being made as to whether this condition may manifest in even stronger forms, and many of these cases are being observed.

It is also believed that the most extreme cases of ethereal sensitivity are wisps, which are apparently pure manifestations of living ethereal light. Some believe that, just as liches were once powerful mages of evil, who used their dark powers to regain life, wisps were once ultra-powerful mages of good, who developed the most advanced form of ethereal sensitivity. In this theory, far more research is needed.
