Ce'Nedra Willow: Welcome Brohym. I don't believe we've met before.
Brohym: figured I would wee what was going on. I was found naked in the woods doing magic and was told to come check it out

Ce'Nedra Willow: Well I'll give everyone a couple more minutes and then we'll get started
Ce'Nedra Willow: Welp then this will have to do. Okay first thing. We have a new message board.

Ce'Nedra Willow: Sweetleaf, aka Lori, of Yew was kind enough to host it for us. He also hosts Yew's so it should look familiar. It's a UBB board (like at Lum's) So it doesn't do 'threading.'

Ce'Nedra Willow: But you can [quote] things. So if you are repling to a specific post in a thread you can quote the important part. Oh, can everyone hear me?

Ce'Nedra Willow: I've had Sweet add a few features to the boards Such as titles to the Council members when they post. There are 4 forums. Announcements is only postable to by admins and mods. This is so we can make announcements. They aren't meant for disucssions. Then there is General for general things and all things Britain. Next is the Council room. All non-private Council discussion can occur there. And last is a Council-chamber for any private discussions that the council needs to hold. Admins and mods and approved people only have that access. To talk in the Council room people must register with the forum. But anyone registered or not can use the general forum. I made a note about usage in the welcome announcement, for those that have had a chance to read it what were your thoughts?

Ce'Nedra Willow: *smiles*
Auren Therion: It is well designed and thought out
Wren Hapswill: *nods approval*
Ce'Nedra Willow: I want people to be welcomed.. but I also want people to know I expect maturity in their actions. This brings us to the next piece.. which will also call for some discussion and a decision. Sweet has offered to host the website for us as well. The advantages are: We can add all kinds of cgi scripts to do neat things, Helpfull things. There are two dissadvantages. 1.) With Homestead I can ftp from work, It uses a browser based ftp, and my works' proxy doesn't block that.

Ce'Nedra Willow: 2.) multiple ftps. I could ask Sweet for ftps for others on the council.. but I don't want to bother him every time I need that. Homestead allows for subsites in your site, which means I could have Katherine register her own ftp login and assign her a subsite, and she could be in charge of updating her own sections

Ce'Nedra Willow: Currently Tass and I set up homesite with a generic login for ftp that we share so we can both make updates, but as we grow, that option was a favored one. Sweet would probably be willing to set up a few accounts for us.. or one shared one.. But that's more work for him. So.. what does everyone think?
Katherine: *raises hand*
Ce'Nedra Willow: Yes?
Katherine: How will we advertise the site to the citizens? Maybe pass out books or something?
Ce'Nedra Willow: Well when we finally have one we like..and plan to work on (that's been our only hesitance thus far)
Katherine: *chuckle*
Ce'Nedra Willow: We can make sure to link it on things
Katherine: Ah. Good plan
Ce'Nedra Willow: I think carrying a few books with it is a good idea too. To reach those that are actually citizens.. using Britain daily. We can make it a council acitivty. Spend time in town meeting and greeting, passing out books

Ce'Nedra Willow: any other comments on the website? We need to make a decision. Which: Homestead or Sweetleaf's offer.
Wren Hapswill: ummm.. both?

Little of Giant: Sounds to me you have given it the most thought, I think we can trust you to make the decision

Ce'Nedra Willow: I'll talk to Sweet some more and depending on what script features he decides to add. We can go from there. I'm leaning towards moving to him. Because I was hoping to make use of the news script I own.
Ce'Nedra Willow: Brimstone made a personal donation of 50k gp. Back during the Eldanor project.
Katherine: wow
Wren Hapswill: *looks impressed*
Ce'Nedra Willow: He gave the gold to me to purchase a news script from Tolien Worf For the CBA/and Eldanor. The script is the one used by him on the loa site, and by stratics, So you can see it has a lot of features

Ce'Nedra Willow: Tolian has since lowered the cost..
Ce'Nedra Willow: *chuckles*

Ce'Nedra Willow: So I'll leave it at a we'll see. Which reminded me.. The boards. I need your opinions on normal date or reverse date.

Katherine: Meaning newer on top or older?
Ce'Nedra Willow: Currently I have it set So that the new posts in a thread are on top, so you don't need to scroll all the way down to where you left off.
Katherine: Yes. I like that way
Wren Hapswill: Aye

Katherine: Don't have to scroll to see them
Ce'Nedra Willow: the problem that Tass brought up though, was that if you hadn't read any of the thread yet. You had to scroll all the way down and read up, which is a bit awkward for western alphabet readers

Katherine: There should be nav buttons in the software, So that you can move to "next post" Without exiting to the menu
Ce'Nedra Willow: That would be nice.. but that's not quite the same thing.
Wren Hapswill: *hand*

Wren Hapswill: I think we should make it easier for our visitors, new on the bottom
Ce'Nedra Willow: So that they read down? and scroll past things they've read already if need be

Katherine: Hmm.. Most boards have threading ability So new threads are reverse order, But replies go down fromt he first post
Ce'Nedra Willow: True. I -think- that new threads are still new first if I switch the thread order.
Wren Hapswill: true.. but but anyone famialiar with the ultimate buletin board will be used to it, since it appeared on stratics for awhile, and Lum's
Ce'Nedra Willow: That was Tass's point. He's familiar with Lum's, So he's used to scrolling. Well let's take a vote, and everyone can vote on this that's present

Ce'Nedra Willow: All for how it is now with new posts at top of thread, say aye. All for switching to new posts at bottom and scrolling say Aye?

Auren Therion: If you do do this form, Then perhaps limit the amount of postings on a board and archive the rest
Ce'Nedra Willow: Well moderators will need to keep an eye out and lock threads that get to lengthy

Ce'Nedra Willow: So what I saw.. was three Aye's for changing it to the way Tass wants it like is on Lum's, and None for how it is currently

Ce'Nedra Willow: Okay then.. Well.. House testing is up.. So reminder to all you wanting to place. You may want to test that out.

Katherine: Sounds fun. Though he better wait till the main rush is past, or no one will come

Ce'Nedra Willow: I've heard of a Compassion day recently (coming up soon in rl). I'm not sure of the exact date.. and we could fudge.. but it might be nice to plan it for then.

Ce'Nedra Willow: Well.. Tass had some stuff worked up. And I know he asked Vix to tell stories. But I don't know the details. Perhaps next week he'll have something more for us to work from. He's away for this weekend.

Ce'Nedra Willow: Two more councils sprung up. Jhelom is the furthest along, And Magincia is in the works.
Little of Giant: what cities lack councils now?

Ce'Nedra Willow: Yew, Trinsic, Britain , Moonglow, Vesper, Jhelom , Magincia, Serpent's Hold

Ce'Nedra Willow: That's it I think. There was a Skara one, but it poofed

Ce'Nedra Willow: i haven't heard anything out of Vesper recently either
Wren Hapswill: Minoc tried a few times.. nothing solid yet

Auren Therion: Cove I believe is considered a neutral town
Ce'Nedra Willow: Cove is a Covenant of Chaos as Vesper is a Congregation of Order. But they are not Virtue towns, no.

Little of Giant: do you have much contact with other councils?
Ce'Nedra Willow: I have contact yes. I tend to have contact with everyone.
Ce'Nedra Willow: Does the council have contact as a whole? Not yet. But Wren's will work on that.

Ce'Nedra Willow: And when the HC becomes reactive it should keep them all in contact

tazz: what can GoL do to help? there are about 50 of us
Ce'Nedra Willow: To help Britain?
tazz: well to help the council and stuff. we have a great deal of skill in runnning a council
Ce'Nedra Willow: Well several things I guess. When Tass gets his plans moving, he'll need volunteers to help
tazz: whats his plans?
Ce'Nedra Willow: He wants to hold a carnival
tazz: carnival hmmm
Ce'Nedra Willow: Vix is heading a party gate program as well, and having volunteers to cover time slots would be great too.
tazz: anythinh else you need? any guarding of areas anything like that? we are trying to get GoL known to people
Ce'Nedra Willow: Well when we start the city guards, I'm sure they will need assistance. We're only recently back and moving as a council.
tazz: want me to try and help form it. in my guild i have a unit called guardians of 2x or better
Ce'Nedra Willow: I'd love for you to work with our Magistrate on that. Unfortunately he hasn't been at the last few meetings due to school.
tazz: oh yeah
Ce'Nedra Willow: I can try to get you two in contact.
tazz: for any who dont know what GoL is, it's the Guardians of Light. from now on my diplomat will be coming instead of me
Ce'Nedra Willow: What name will yer diplomat have?
tazz: hehehe he hasnt been choosen. we are getting a new one. our last one did nothing, so he was fired

tazz: if there isnt an announched dimplomat next week, athena commander of the guardians will be here
Ce'Nedra Willow: Something the council will need to decide is how we will handle inactive members. We need to put into place some rules of such.

tazz: yeah. i learned from my guild you need to just get rid of them
Ce'Nedra Willow: I was planning to have Salvor work on getting a 'constitution' set up.
tazz: what time does this go to? i might ask athena to come
Ce'Nedra Willow: Well generally we run about an hour. Sometimes we have more to talk of, sometimes less. I tend to ramble on.

Ce'Nedra Willow: Great! I'm hoping to start some discussion on official town documents there. I wanted Salvor to write something that we could build on and work from. But I haven't heard back from him recently
Wren Hapswill: Yew has alot of input with that on their board
tazz: i was wondering do any of you have any houses close to here in old lands?why don't you hold meetings in old lands
Ce'Nedra Willow: Well, We are a Council of Virtue And as the Virtue shrines now exist in Trammel, this is our base.
tazz: well gol is making the city of light, and if you want, and if its established, we could help run from there. right now gol owns only 6 houses
tazz: ok, i must go

Ce'Nedra Willow: Tass mentioned he'd like us to get something written up of our goals. So that's something we can be thinking about, and discuss them on the board
Wren Hapswill: Have you seen my posts on Town Councils in any of the boards?
Ce'Nedra Willow: I have seen some of that Wren, in fact I added my long two cents yersterday

Ce'Nedra Willow: Yew is a lot further a long then us. but it's something we should keep an eye on, as it will help us form some ideas and make decisions
Wren Hapswill: Aye.. learn from their mistakes

Ce'Nedra Willow: One goal I've been thinking of.. is to have at least one large event a month, or activity. Like the carnival
