Title: Crossing The Glass

Herein is my account of a strange practice referred to in ancient texts I've recently been fortunate enough to study. Please pardon any irregularities, as the tomes were quite dusty and nearly falling apart.
According to lore, ancient Gods frequently chose to view their creation through the eyes of the beings they created, in order to gain a first hand perspective of the worlds they had wrought.
Because they had the ability to come and go as they pleased, in and out of the bodies, it was said they could see everything transparently and untainted, giving them a clear few of the many facets of Life. However, they could also experience Death by remaining in the creation when it passed.
Some beings were more in tune with the Gods, and were actually aware when they became "inhabited", so to speak. They wrote of themselves as "Glass Houses" for the Gods, and claimed that in those comings and goings, they also became aware of methods to travel between planes of existence. I have puzzled long over this, but I suppose, perhaps, to continue the analogy, they could see beyond themselves when the Door to the House was open.
The passages are not clear on this point, and it is a difficult concept for me to envision, but apparently these ancients began to dabble in ways that they too could go from "House" to "House", and plane to plane. It was even theorized that it was possible to Cross the Glass boundary between Life and Death, just as the Gods could.
Even as the Gods could leave a being after it passed on, and move on to another living being, they believed they too could transcend the bonds of death if they received Blessings for the journey.
Among the early pioneers of this study was an elvish mage by the name of Morgoth. A powerful being in battle as well, from what I've learned.
At any rate, this mage reportedly theorized on Rituals of Sending and Calling, based on his own experience and texts that were ancient even in his day. Sadly, he was called away from his study to defend his people against the invasion of Man, and was eventually slain.
I have studied several supplementary texts, and have found only that he called the process "Crossing the Glass", and that it was a three step process. I ventured here to his old abode in Wind, but found only dusty parchments with few legible words. References to Stars, something about Doom and Death and a note from a Disciple of his mentioning a grave honoring his Sacrifice in Ilshenar.
Finally this:
Gela Yelad
Hiaro Hildorea yela!
Entula a'lye!
Agar Winya tuuluva Iant
i'Yaara Gelas nae tela!
Who knows what this may be, for I have not the skill to read it. Imagine what could happen if one could "Cross the Glass" and return to this world after Death. Amazing.
Oh, I almost forgot. I ventured to Ilshenar to see the grave at the Sacrifice gate, and saw something odd. What at first looked like a pale rock, seemed to softly glow as I approached it.
After trying to dislodge it from the ground, it finally (almost reluctantly, it seemed) came free. I saw it wasn't a rock at all, but a Skull! Thinking it must be a sign, I took it with me and brought it here. Strange indeed that it would be so near the surface, though no other bones from other graves had risen. I will leave the skull here, as I don't know what else to do with it and it has stopped glowing. - SI
