Title: 1/28/24 Minutes
Author: Rizan
9:25: King Blackthorn arrives, apologizes for having had a matter to attend to that kept him late.
9:26: Meeting convenes, the King inquires how everyone enjoyed their holidays. His Majesty mentions that Heckles got him a brand new chair for his lounge, and only put a balloon on his seat once.
9:28: New Governor Shadowyke speaks for Vesper, and as no one has governed Vesper for quite some time the King asks for an update on what is happening there. Wyke relates that there have been some troubles in the city of Vesper, that there are many islands and few hands. She continues, stating that the supply of honey is "off", and that the supply documents seem to have been altered. She believes the former governor of Minoc, Ziggy, is behind it, and reports have been that he is moving large crates through the Vesper docks. Shadowyke plans to increase the guard duty on all fronts, but states that Ziggy must be dealt with. The King asks to be kept informed, and Shadowyke states her intention to do her best, and will update His Majesty as soon as possible. The King states that he has not forgotten Vesper, and should anything be needed all requests and questions should be directed to Scribe Amaris, the book keeper. The King thanks Shadowyke for the update.
9:36: Tatiana Thorn speaks for Skara Brae once again, having won re-election. Skara Brae continues to thrive, the coffers stay full, and trades continue to climb. The populace seems happy. Rangers keep the city safe.
9:38: Governor Hagrid returns for another Governor's session after his re-election, and speaks for Britain. It's too cold for the rabblerousers to cause much trouble in the city, and the coffers remain full. He states most seem to be awaiting the coming of Spring.
9:43: Wiglaf, another returning governor, speaks for Minoc. He says he has two large pieces of news to relate. First, he declares that he intends to resign from the governorship of Minoc, since he heard criticisms and complaints about his use of necromancy to force the undead to work the mines alongside the living miners (in spite of the increase in ore production).
Wiglaf states his intention to go to Ter Mur to study mysticism, and requests that the Minoc treasurer, Happy Dayz, be the replacement governor, providing that His Majesty approves. Happy Dayz, present at the meeting, states that he has handed the official letters of transfer over to Wiglaf, and it requires only His Majesty's approval to be made official. The King states that Happy should see Scribe Amaris after the meeting to settle him in, and Happy states his intention to quell the unrest in the mines as soon as possible. The second matter is that a witness has been found in the matter of Ziggy- a night patrol officer from Vesper saw what happened the night Ziggy's ship left Vesper. Squints the Ranger is called up by Wiglaf, and is asked to relate what he saw transpire. Squints was patroling Vesper's waterfront on a nice evening, the smell of bread filling the air, and he said his good evenings to Garth the trade minister and Bart the fishmonger-- at this point Wiglaf interjects and asks Squints to get to the point. The ship "Yew Galla" was docked and not scheduled to leave for two days, and when Squints went aboard to do an inspection he fell asleep in the cargo hold. He awoke a few hours later and found the ship had left port, but the crew hadn't caught him. He snuck about and saw some crates with Minoc treasury tax tags on them, and three large crates with blackrock dust leaking from the edges. He crept back to his hiding spot and hid until the ship docked in Trinsic for resupply, and though he was not able to escape he remained hidden. They made landfall on an unknown island after departing Trinsic, where Ziggy and his crew traded the crates of blackrock to hooded figures for a crate of old golem parts, which Squint was able to investigate after the crew was asleep. When the ship made port in Jhelom, Squints made his escape and headed for the Morning Star Inn, hiding himself there in shame, too embarassed to show himself. The King asks whether there will be further investigation into this matter, and Happy inquires as to whether any words were spoken by the hooded figures- none were, and Squints found the silence to be "creepy". Wiglaf suggests that Shadowyke and Happy could investigate the matter further, as Minoc and Vesper seem to be at the heart of the matter. His Majesty requests that the matter be investigated before the Royal Investigators need to be called in, though offers aid if needed.
9:57: Governor Merlin, another returning Governor, speaks for New Magincia. He mentions first that the governor of Trinsic will send a missive to His Majesty, and she apologizes for her absence at the current meeting. As for Magincia, Merlin states the city has been quiet, and the cold has kept ships from their harbors; even Scalis hasn't invaded as often. The only trouble was when a couple of people caused a bit of trouble in the pub after drinking too much. The Governor's mansion is still under construction, and he mentions that aside from that no news is good news.
10:01: Craig the Mongbat returns for another session of the Governors and speaks for Jhelom. The city does well, though it's quiet after the holidays have ended. The treasury is topped off, the citizens are happy, and other than the goings-on with Ziggy all seems well. Craig states that now that the holidays are over, he will resume working on a scavenger hunt, to hopefully take place starting the middle of next month.
10:03: His Majesty opens the floor to general comments or concerns, and there are none expressed by the crowd. 10:04: His Majesty concludes the meeting, and thanks everyone for coming.
