Spawn stood in his lab gazing at the fire pit somewhat angered about the recent meeting he had with Talon Skyfire.

"So the M'reals and McStravicks went back to Talon... weak fools" Spawn said to himself folding his arms to his chest. "Their decision shall be their downfall" he went on slowly walking towards the table where the blackrock was placed. He placed his hand over the blackrock admiring it's luster and size. "I shall show them... I shall show them all!" Spawn narrowed his eyes as he slowly picked up the blackrock into the air. "I shall cast Armageddon! Yes... that's what I shall do!"

Spawn then placed the blackrock on the table in front of him. He blew into his hands then placed them on the piece of blackrock. "Vas Kal An Mani In Corp Hur Tym"" Spawn chanted closing his eyes. He opened his eyes to see that nothing had happened. He closed his eyes again and began to the Armageddon spells again. "Vas Kal An Mani In Corp Hur Tym"" chanting Spawn in a more serious tone. And yet nothing happened again. Spawn let out a small growl and closed his eyes. "Vas Kal An Mani In Corp Hur Tym!" he chanted even louder.

The blackrock began to shake and glow into a light bluish color. "Yes! Yes! I have done it! I have casted Armageddon!" yelled Spawn laughing like a madman. Suddenly, the blackrock scattered causing a huge explosion which the entire city of Sanctus could have felt. The lab as well as the lower level of Spawn's castle exploded launching rocks and glass all over the area. The lab, the walls and everything else in the lower level was damaged or destroyed. His servant Oscar ran down the stairs after feeling the explosion from the garden upstairs.

"Lord Spawn!?! Sire!?! Are you down here?!" yelled Oscar. But Spawn was nowhere to be seen. "Sire!?! Sire!?! Where are you!?!" The servant shouted out for Spawn again but he was noone to be seen or heard. "Oh no! I must find Lady Tika!" Oscar said to himself as he ran upstairs and out of the castle in search of Spawn's wife.

"Help! Help! Someone please!" Oscar shouted as he ran down the streets of Sanctus to find anyone who could help.

Talon leaped out of bed as the explosion rocked the castle.

The magnitude of the blast had toppled the room's furniture and knocked everything from the walls.

"Saidhe, are you alright?" Talon exclaimed.

The startled Queen managed a nod as Talon grabbed Ice and threw on his robe. By this time, the Kingsguard had arrived with the children in tow.

"The heirs are safe, Sire," Lord Marcus informed.

Talon nodded. "Very well, is anyone else hurt"

"The explosion came from Lord Spawn's estate," said Lord Justice.

***************************************

As Talon made his way out of the castle, ash hung in the air like a thick blanket. Fire was rising out of his brother's quarters.

"No...I can't believe he went through with it."

Citizens and soldiers were busy rushing buckets of water to the rapidly worsening blaze.

"Don't even think about it Sire," Lord Poshe advised Talon as he gazed at the structure. "There is no way he could have survived that."

"I have failed to save him. Mayhaps all hope is not lost." Talon said with a heavy sigh.

Poshe attempted to grab the King as he rushed headlong into the blaze, searching for his brother.

As Talon ran into the burning house of Spawn, Poshe gave chase. He couldn't allow his King to go into danger, not without being by his side. Talon was known for his instinctive behavior and deep love for his brother, but Poshe wasn't about to let him suffer for it. Atleast not alone.

He made his way to a large opening in the wall where fire started buring wildly out of control. It made him pause and pull up his arms to shield his face from the high heat. SIRE! shouted Poshe as he tried to gaze past the smoke and flames. Talon ran in only moments before and the fire grew cutting off his escape. But the only sounds Poshe could hear were those of falling debris and burning wood. Poshe pulled his cloak over himself to help shield him from the flames and started to make his way into the ruins from another opening.

Even though Poshe doubted Spawns survival from the explosion, there was always the hope that both Spawn and Talon would come out of the ruins alive. He would do anything in his power to make it happen if only he could find them.

Last anyone saw, both King and Lord Chancellor disapeared into the flames looking for Spawn.

Molly had taken advantage of her daughter's nap to slip into bed for a short reprieve from daily activities.

Will had come home early and seeing her resting came to lie beside her, head on his hand watching her as she slept. She sturred opening her eyes, seeing his face so close to her and she smiled up at him.

He leaned down to brush her lips with his when the ground shuddered and a great noise of an explosion was heard from the south. Both at the same time jumped up and pushed aside the curtains on the south wall. They looked through the window in horror, in the direction of the noise, and saw billows of smoke rising over the trees. She and Will exchanged looks of alarm. Almael, arroused from sleep, had begun to cry out for her mother fearfully. Molly ran to her bed and swooped the child up in her arms holding her to her breast comforting the little girl with a worried look at her husband. That came from Sanctus...she said and he nodded. Not needing to say anything more he rushed out the door of their room and headed out as Molly tried to calm their daughter with soft cooing noises.

Almael, though calmed some what, did not want 'Mama' to put her down so with one hand Molly fumbled with a quill and parchment and quickly jotted a note. She attached the note clumsily to her dove's leg and let the bird out the window with the message to Shihan to meet Will at once in Sanctus.

He ducked into the caves, barely in time, as the explosion echoed, and rocks showered upon his location. Every bone in Malorn's body shivered and he slowly, shakilly, tugged off his hood. His ears were still ringing from the shock, and his eyes struggled to shake off the after-image of the blast.

As he regained composure and ceased his shakes, he refit his hood and snuck from the cave. Taking point behind a rock, he stared at the edefice ablaze. A small grin overtook his face at the sight and the idea came into his mind.

He knew the time would be soon. Such a commotion was the perfect opportunity. He grinned wildly behind his mask and snuck towards the caves for the opportunity to strike.

Serena rolled over and curled against Varlan more, she had finally managed to get Aaralynn back to sleep only to be awakened by an explosion that shook their home,"Varlan!!!,"she yelled as he too sat up and looked to her,"go get Aaralynn!!!,"he yelled to her causing her to jump from bed and race towards their daughter's room and her cries.

Scooping her up she moved back into the hall in time to see her husband strapping on his armor,"get your cloak and another blanket for Aaralynn...we're going to go see Marcus and James...,"he said as she nodded and did as she was asked, making sure to grab a spare bottle incase.

Running back to her husband she quickly covered Aaralynn then handed her to her father,"take her while I slip on my cloak..,"she said as he nodded and craddled his tiny daughter gently,"What was that love?,"she asked as she tied her the strings on her cloak.

"I am not sure my love but come lets go...,"he said as he handed Aaralynn back to her and guided her to the door,"whatever you do...do not leave the castle until I return...,"he said as they saw both Marcus and James standing outside the castle.

"Go on in Serena...Penny is there with the twins...,"he said as she kissed her husband quickly and moved inside.

The light breeze blew off the ocean as Tika sat watching Darius investigate a small piece of seaweed in the wet sand. They had been at their vacation home for three days now and Spawn had been due to arrive sometime yesterday afternoon. She thought back on the conversation they had had about her taking Darius on ahead and him joining them in a couple days time. Though she had argued that they could all just wait and leave together , he had been adamant to the point of anger that she go immediately. Not wanting her husband angry with her she and Darius had left the next morning for the small island off Isamu with the nanny and a handful of the household staff. She hoped the vacation and fresh air would relax him. He had seemed rather testy of late, easily angered and almost paranoid in his thoughts. She was concerned he was overdoing it in his research. Recent rumors of a strange affliction of those that handled blackrock did not make her feel any more at ease about his research. She knew he wished to learn its properties so he could discover how best to defend against it but his recent changes sent up small warning signs to her. His not arriving yesterday also concerned her.
Several hours later, the maid returned by boat from the main island and passed on the gossip heard in Zento as she put away a few necessities.
" .... and they said the ground shook all the way to Luna and Umbra." she was saying as Tika walked into the kitchen area. Tika looked at her and questioned what she was speaking of.
" Oh M'Lady, there was talk in Zento of a huge explosion somewhere in Malas that shook the grounds." she replied to Tika's question then elaborated on other gossip she had heard in the marketplace.
Tika walked out of the kitchen thinking on what she had heard. That would explain why he had not arrived yet. Perhaps he was investigating the occurrence. If he did not arrive or send news tonight, she made the decision to head home herself and get him or just see if she could help. Darius would be fine here with the staff until they returned to finish their vacation.

She arrived at their home the next evening. Looking about she made note that several of the urns and decorative pictures had been shaken off the walls and off of the shelves. Several bookshelves had lost their contents and chairs were overturned. It certainly had to have been some shake. What bothered her though was that obviously Spawn had not been home since the occurrence as he would have righted the mess. Obviously he was busy assisting where he could. She went back to the stables and remounted her horse and headed for Sanctus.

Going through the elaborate caves, she found the results of the explosion had affected them a lot worse. Stone lay everywhere as she carefully made her way through. She covered her mouth and nose with a thin cloth to aid in breathing the dusty air all around her. As she exited the other side into Sanctus, she was relieved to see the light and took several deep breathes of the fresh air. A scent of the aftermath of fire assaulted her nostrils as she made her way toward Spawn Castle. Dismounting she headed up the stairs noting the cracks in them.

Waiting at the top of the stairs was Ironman. He looked tired and dusty and began to chatter at her immediately, stepping into her path so she could not advance any farther into the Castle. His explanation was that the Castle had sustained some damage from the explosion and he had been repairing it. When asked where Lord Spawn was , he stuttered about and said he was occupied with business and not at the castle. She asked him where he might be and he hemmed and hawed and suggested they go to Hanses. When she agreed a look of pure relief washed over the man's face. Thinking he perhaps just wanted an excuse to get an ale, she chuckled to herself as they made their way to Hanses.

Arriving at Hanses, a large crowd had gathered. No one would look at her directly except for the one they called Ceinwyn. They all dropped hints and blatantly asked Ironman why he had not told her. They explained they had been searching for her. Starting to understand that something was very wrong here, she brushed past Ironman headed back to Castle Spawn accusing him of keeping her from entering. He ran ahead of her begging her not to go in and then stopped her at the main doors, blocking her entry to the main hall. A confrontation ensued between Ironman and several that had followed and as he was distracted , someone opened the curtain to the main hall and Tika followed them inside.

She stopped dead in her tracks. A coffin lay where her husbands seat had sat. Atop of it was his hat. A statue stood in honor of him before the coffin. As if in a dream she walked slowly toward it, stopping before the statue. Bewildered, confused and shocked she looked to the one called Ceinwyn and she nodded slowly to her. Another had opened the casket and seeing her husband's body lying within it was more then she could take.

She fainted....

Kali was returning from running her errands when suddenly the cave around her shuddered. She felt the rocks falling upon her head and her first instinct was to curl into a ball and protect her unborn child. As soon as it began, the rumbling around her stopped. She looked up and brushed the dust and stone from her hair. She exited the cave and noticed people moving very quickly towards Spawn and Tika's manor in Sanctus. She gasped as she saw the gaping hole in the wall and the flames. Knowing there was nothing she could do here, as quickly as she could, she made her way home. She flung open the door and started calling for Vaen to come quickly...

After having sent the letter to Talon, Kali ran into the house screaming for his name. Vaen quickly moved downstairs to greet her with a hug. He then showed her the letter that Talon had sent him.

"I'm afraid... Spawn is no longer with us," Vaen said, looking down at her. "But we must hold faith. Stranger things have happened in this world. He may yet come back to us." His words seemed to string along on a thin line of hope. Kali looked up to him without word, and then just burried her head in his chest. He wrapped his arms around her a little tighter, sighing softly.

"Spawn," he thought, "If there is any chance that you can keep fighting, then do it. But if you are already up there, then I will do my best to look after Tika..."

"Wait a minute," Vaen said... "Tika... where's Tika?!"

Tika sat in the garden, staring blindly into the pond she and Spawn had spent hours building. Many had come and gone and the conversations with them all but a jumble of words in her head. She was numb and mentally exhausted as the silent tears fell down her cheeks and dropped into the pond. Random conversations went through her mind
She had spoken with the King and had given him permission to handle the arrangements for a state funeral.
She had ordered guards posted after someone attacked the queen.
Many condolences from strangers and family alike.
Whispered offers to bring him back from the dead ...

"...offers to bring him back from the dead ..." she whispered out loud. Her mind focused on this trying to remember from whom the offers had come. Bits and pieces of the conversations came back to her " Was blackrock...", ".. not really dead..", " Can be brought back...", "Necromancy?"

Tika thought on this. Could he be brought back? Was it just her selfish wants to think it was even possible?
" Oh Spawn..what would you want?"
A soft warm breeze caressed her face and seemed to wrap around her, as if replying to her. She smiled feeling safe knowing his presence was with her.

The call out of " alls well" from the night guard at his post brought her out of her revere.
She glanced around the silent garden and her eyes fell upon the small toy boat left forgotten by the pond. She smiled as the image of Spawn and their son playing with the boat came to her mind. Their son, so much like his father. The stubborn determination to be successful at anything they did. She walked over and picked up the boat. The tears began again as she thought of the news she must give their son. She knew she must tell him soon.. but a few more days on the beach would not hurt. She could only pray she made the right decision. She sat back down next to the pond and absently set the boat into the water giving it a small push.

Fong arrived late that evening to the Royal court of Light meeting. Silently he entered the chambor and took a seat in the back. Talon skyfire was Giving some sort of report to Molly and she was in tears. Fong wondered what was causing the tears when he heard Talon speak "Spawn was found in the ruble of his home after an experiment with blackrock had gone terribly wrong, he was found dead." Fong was speachless at this, He felt an overwhelming sence of sadness. Talon finished speaking to molly and left to attend to detials of the wake. Fong made his departure soon after talon had left. Returning to moonglow he assembled the militia to pay there respects to Spawn.

Toni had been awakened by the rumblings. For a brief moment she had thought the mountain beside her home was crumbling. She turned to reach for her husband, but Morus was already out of bed searching the windows. She gently got up from her bed and neared his side.
When her eyes turned to the window, she saw what appeared to be a big black cloud rising over the houses not far from hers.
Morus left to seek out what was happeneing. Being left alone, Toni went down to her sitting room to wait worriedly for any news on what was going on.
A few hours had passed before Morus returned with a solemn look upon his face. She looked questioningly up to him. "What is it, love?"
Morus slumped in the chair beside her and hung his head low. "It's....Spawn....his castle...a hole...."
"What?" Toni's heart began to race from fear. She had high regard for Spawn and Tika, and she feared for what had happened.
Morus explained the holes in the floor and wall of the castle, and how Spawn's body had been found.
Toni sat crying, thinking of her friends. Wondering what had happened.

The next afternoon she made her way slowly toward the hostel. The streets were busy with many wanting to know what had happened. Through overheard conversations, Toni learned her friend Tika was well, she had not been home at the time of the explosion. And the explosion... the result of his dabblings with the blackrock.
She would need to seek out Tika as soon as possible, if there was anything she needed Toni would ensure the clan would provide it.

Ceinwyn had arrived in Sanctus searching for the cause of the explosion. While she was there, she decided to swing by Spawn's place, to check the status of his blackrock madness. He had been progressing nicely, she had thought. Though he had almost assuredly been exposed to more blackrock than Fong had. He was the more obviously infected, with all of his shouting and kingly declarations of power. It was quite interesting how similar he was to his twin.

When she got to his castle, she smelled a familiar smell. Death. Death was here, in this dwelling. She walked up the stairs and into the main hall. Skyfire and Poshe and some unknown were there. She gazed at the statue of Spawn. She could have sworn it hadn't been there before. Beyond the sculpture, lay the familiar sight of a coffin. It was time to find out just what had happened.

Verbal banter ensued, she came out of the conversation unscathed, though enlightened. Spawn had blown himself up attempting to cast The Spell. It didn't surprise her that it had killed him, but it did surprise her that he had been that advanced in his infection. She asked to see his lab, but it had been destroyed, cleaned, and repaired. Nothing remained.

As the night progressed, people came to pay respects. She watched them all come and go. She was sure they all cared for him, probably even loved him to some extent, but none of them even had a clue. Out of all the foolish lightbringers, only Spawn had been truly worthy to call himself virtuous, in her opinion. The rest were comprised almost entirely of hypocrites. She was aware that Sanctus had lost a great deal with his death, and she marvelled at how the future might unfold.

As she was deciding that Barl would need to be informed, perhaps even Mairsil, she noticed an orc had entered the room, and begun trying to purloin the gems from the statue of Spawn. This, of course, outraged her for two reasons, though 'twas not in fact the idea of theft, in and of itself.

A) It was the idea that some heathen would try to destroy perfectly good artwork.

B) That the heathen in question was one of the orcs that had dared to try to kidnap her.

She thrilled at calling attention to the unwashed wretch. The filthy beast deserved it. She made her way to the tavern, where she met those of Umbra. While they were standing outside discussing various things, Tika walked up, with the smith. She looked at Tika and began the usual formalities of "I'm sorry for.." When she was cut off mid-sentence, by the smith.

How very rude of him... She thought as the smith kept mouthing the word "No" and shaking his head from behind Tika, repeatedly cutting her words short. Ceinwyn grew a bit angry and accused the smith of not informing Tika. The widow realized something was amiss and took off toward her castle. Ceinwyn followed on their heels, not wishing to miss a thing.

The stupid smith was blocking the door, barring the widow's entrance to the main hall, in which the body of her husband lay. The orc's re-arrival timed perfectly, as Ceinwyn used the distraction to open the curtains, allowing Tika to pass.

The woman stopped short and stared in the direction of the coffin. She still had not quite put two and two together, however, so Ceinwyn decided she would inform the widow that she was now in fact, a widow. As Ceinwyn opened her mouth to speak, much to the dismay of the smith, she realized how she would feel had the situation been reversed. She paused, before speaking, to re-word her sentence a bit more kindly and, in a rare show of compassion for the widow, explained to her what had happened.

She was quite unprepared when the woman collapsed in a faint at her feet.

Malic arose and began his shift as always. His home is very far north in the Kingdom and he did not feel the quaking from the explosion. Upon arrival at Hanses' Hostle, Malic caught a screaming eagle from the sky. Malic opens the scroll...Twas a message from the King that the Queen was assaulted at the viewing of Lord Spawn.

This was the first Malic heard of his mentor's death. Malic escorted the queen back to the castle only to return the The Spawn residence. Very somber and quietly he went to see his former leader. Malic always respected and looked upto spawn and strived to be as good a leader as Spawn. "I wish somehow we may return M'lord to his former glory" said malic quietly, "perhaps someone may find a way and i may help?"

With that Malic returned home saddened by the loss of his leader and close friend. As always the man of all work and no time to play was back to the job.

Ariana sat in the living room of the M'real Manor and looked to the others, their faces were so somber as they slipped on their cloaks and prepared to leave. She had never met the man who had recently passed away but by the expressions on their faces as well as the others around Sanctus she knew he must have been important.

"We shouldn't be gone long Ariana...,"Serena said as she slipped her arm through her husband's,"I nursed Aaraylnn a few moments ago so she should be just fine till we return...,"she said as Ariana nodded her head and craddled her own son in her arms,"yes m'lady..,"she said as she looked down to Isaac as he lay sleeping nestled against her breast.

Lifting her gaze once again she watched as James and Varlan led their wives out the door and across the street to Spawn's castle.
