[Shihan Reckoning]

Shihan stood before Lily in wonderment. She seemed to be slowly slipping from sanity into a world of turmoil and darkness. Standing in her living room with a warm fire to his back he let is thoughts wonder to the fact that he did not want to add to the problems of his guild which already was stretching its resources in other matters. But the woman before him was in need of assistance he could not provide. As they tried to consol her and make sense of her condition his mind went through possible solutions to his dilemma and he became even more concerned with her mental state.

After giving her a sleeping medication to keep her dreams from evoking even more problems and giving her the rest she so desperately needed Shihan decided it was time to find someone who could give him a greater incite into her problems.

Lily stood outside of the huge manor and looked around,shivering from the cold wind that blew down from the mountains,"Shihan...,"she whispered softly as she looked out across the grass of the Crystal Fens.

"Lily come back inside you'll catch your death..,"a voice said from behind the doors,"no not until I see him..,"she said as Annawen sighed and stepped outside grabbing the young woman's arm gently,"you do not want him seeing you sick now get in here...,"she said as Lily relented and moved inside.

"I am sure Shihan will be here soon...,"Annawen said as she guided Lily to the couch and sat her down,"drink this tea it will warm you up...,"she said as passed her a cup of warm tea then straightened up and looked to the young woman.

"They won't let him help me...,"she said as Annawen raised an eyebrow,"who are they Lily?,"she asked as she sat down beside her and took her hand gently,"they are the puppet masters...,"she said staring into the fire.

"Puppetmasters?,"Annawen said to herself then bite her lip as she realized who she thought Lily meant,"no of course not Lily...,"she said then froze as she looked at Lily who staring back at her with hatered flaring in her bright blue eyes.

"They are the puppet masters...,"she said again causing Annawen to sigh softly then hand her another cup of tea,"drink Lily this will help you sleep..,"she said as Lily calmly took the second cup of tea and sipped it while Annawen moved over and sat down pulling a pen and a parchment from her kimono.

Dipping a stick of wax in a candle she sealed the letter then used her Dragon Samurai ring to seal it she,looking over to Lily she saw her fast asleep,"I will get this to a messenger then get back here before she awakes...,"she said as she slipped on her cloak and ran out the door heading for Luna.

Once inside the walls she quickly found a messenger and handed him the letter as well as a bag of gold,"see that this gets to Empress Rryn on the Island of Makato...and wait with her for a reply...,"she said as he nodded and left quickly leaving her to look towards the sky,"Ashi...hurry back my love..for I do not know how much more strength I have left..,"she said as she turned and made her way back to the house.

Rryn had just stepped from the baths and wrapped the kimono around her when a small tapping came from the door.
" Hai ? Who is it ?" she called out.
" It is only I , Akami" her young maid called her reply.
Rryn frowned, then laughed at herself for wishing it had been someone else and bid the maid enter.
"Pardon, Empress, I have a message from Lord Yorito for you." Rryn smiled at the girls words. " He says there is a gentleman from Luna sent to deliver message to you and he must await a reply. He waits in the training arena with the Lord Yorito "
" From Luna you say..it must be important. Help me with this obi if you would please" Rryn bade the girl's assistance.

Once she was fully dressed in her morning clothing, she made her way to the kitchen and spoke with the cook. Assured tea and pastry would be awaiting in the library she headed out to the training arena. She was greeted warmly by the men there and asked Lord Yorito and the messenger to follow her to the library. She read the message from Lady Annawen and passed it to Lord Yorito to see. He read it quickly and nodded .

" We have several here on the islands, as well as Umbra that you might find such a person of necromatic arts." He spoke deeply handing her the letter back.
" Hai, If you will excuse me , I shall pen a reply. Please avail yourself of food and tea. if you require anything else , Lee-san will see you are provided for" Rryn spoke to the messenger and smiled to Lee taking his hand and squeezing it.

Once in her study , she pulled out fine ricepaper and her ink and wrote in kanji.

Annanwen,

It has been long since I have seen you , sister of the dragons. I have received your request and will most diligently seek someone that can help your friend. I can think of several, though with some, one must be careful of the favors one must return for services rendered. I know you understand from where I speak. I will have them contact you directly. Should you require any services from this house , know they are yours to offer and request.

On a personal note, the girls return from holiday soon and we should love to have yourself and your children visit for another picnic soon. We have much catching up to do.

She dusted the ink with fine sand to dry it and rolled the paper up carefully, wrapping a red ribbon around it. She carefully sealed it with her wax and seal. Carrying it back downstairs she handed it to the messenger. With the next ship not due out for several hours, she called the maid to give him a room to settle and refresh in until his journey home must begin.

Once he was away to his room, she exchanged pleasantries and morning tea with Lee until he had to return to his men. He bowed low over her hand and kissed it gently before departing.

Annawen sat down on the bed in the master bedroom and sighed tiredly between searching for her husband,tending to her four children,watching over the Phoenix and helping tend to Lily she was exhausted.

"M'lady...,"she heard her servant call from outside the door,"you have a letter from the Empress...,"she said causing Annawen to stand immediately and rush to the door,pushing it open,"thank you...,"she said then turned away.

"M'lady do you wish for me to draw you a bath..?,"she asked causing Annawen to turn to her and nod tiredly,"yes please..also send for me a messenger I have a letter I must send out...,"she said as the maid nodded her head leaving Annawen to read the letter quietly.

Smiling softly she moved to her desk and sat down,her long red silk robe blowing out in the breeze from the open window nearby,pushing her dark hair behind her ear she picked up her pen and began to write.

Rryn,

Tis good to hear from you my sister..I wish to thank you for your help I fear that Lily is getting worse by the day and I truely fear she will hurt herself or someone else. Both myself and Shihan have been keeping her asleep for the most part but I the potions we are giving her may stop working soon..any help you can offer would be a great help but please choose wisely when we meet I will give you all the details.

I would love to come for a visit but I am not sure what type of company I will be...and my children as of this morning have been sent back to Wynterhaven to spend a short time with the remainder of my family. I will contact you as soon as I can with a good time to meet and talk..hopefully we can do this privately for I fear who may listen and try to go after Lily.

Lifting up the wax stick she melted it some then held it over the bottom of the letter letting just a small drip fall to its surface. Picking up her Dragon crest she gave it her personal seal then stood up and moved to the hallway where her maid stood waiting,"The Empress...make sure to give our messenger a decent bag of gold for his troubles..,"she said as the maid nodded,"Your bath is also ready m'lady..,"she said as Annawen nodded and moved into her and Ashi's private bathing area,tears starting to slide down her face.

"Ashi...,"she said as her hand went around the pendent he gave her and more tears began to slide down her face as she sank to the floor the feeling of helplessness washing over her.
