The Duchess looked absolutely terrible. A message had requested Shihan to the guild hall for a meeting with his liege lords. Upon arriving Shihan heard a story of dreams of ice and death from the Duchess. It was not healthy for her to be in this shape and the lack of sleep was evident on her face. A decision was made to find someone who specialized in dreams and their meaning to try to resolve what was wearing so heavily on the Duchess. Names flew around and several people were suggested. A list of people was made, some easier to find, some not. Shihan took the list after giving a few words of concern about her amount of sleep then went to work to find people.

Lady Alessandra Lious,

I am writing you in hopes that you might be able to help the House of the Gauntlet and my liege lords the Duke and Duchess Kaldhel in a matter of personal importance. It seems that the Duchess has been having some trouble with dreams she has been having and a person from Nujel’m may be able to help. Roxxy Dublois is her name and it is our understanding that she lives or uses Nuejel’m to work in. As you are the Concul for Nujel’m and representative to the Royal Court of Light I would formally request any assistance in locating this person so that we may ask for her assistance.

He blew some solidifier over the ink to dry it and rolled it up and placed a House Gauntlet seal on it. Placing it in a waterproof snake skin to keep it dry for its sea voyage to the island of Nujel’m he set it into the outgoing message box for the next days riders to take out.

Alessandra read through the letter and pondered a few moments. She then pulled a piece of parchment and began writing...

Lord Shihan,

Your letter brings me grave concern. When last I saw Lady Molly, she seemed to be doing much better. I am sorry to hear that she is once again on the decline. I would be very happy to locate Miss Dubois. We employed her for our recent festival, and I believe I can send word to her. I will have her contact you directly, but should you require any further assistance, please do not hesitate in contacting me.

The House of the Gauntlet has requested our assistance in locating the young lady that we hired to perform the fortune readings for our festival. I am not sure of her whereabouts and I am hopeful that you will be successful in again finding her. Please have her contact Lord Reckoning as soon as she is able. Thank you.

She sealed both letters with the official seal of the Legion and sent them with a messenger.

Tika received the letter in her mail upon returning home. She knew who they were looking for and penned a reply back to Alessandra.

Alessandra,

I have received your request and I am aware this is most urgent that this young lady be found. Hopefully she is not traveling and I will be able to contact her personally. I shall make her aware of the need to seek Lord Reckoning of the House Gauntlet. Should I have any trouble finding her I will make you aware.

She sealed the letter and sent it immediately to Aless. Grabbing a few supplies she headed out the door to seek out Roxxy DuBois.

She rode to the nearest Inn after talking to the Impresario in Brittain.

He knew who Roxxy was and informed her she had just recently left with a group to tour a few cities and perform and of course he could forward a messanger to her for a small cost. Tika had taken out the small bag of gold and penned a quick message to Roxxy and watched as the Impresario handed it to a messanger with a small map of Malas and sent him on his way.
Securing a table for her lunch , she sat down and penned a quick message to Aless.

Dear Alessandra,
I have located, kind of , Roxxy DuBois. She just recently left Britain on a tour. The Impresario of Britain has sent a messanger with my message regarding the urgency of this matter. They were last headed towards Luna according to their schedule. Hopefully the Duke will hear from her in just a day or two. If I can be of any further service do not hesitate to ask.

After eating she stepped outside and whistled for her hawk, sending the message on its way to Aless. As it flew off she headed into town to pick up a few supplies and a new notebook for her husband before she returned home.

Roxxy DuBois bowed deeply to the audience in appreciation of the applause. As she exited the stage after the finale, she was greeted by a familiar face. It was a servant of the Impresario of Britain. Looking a bit bedraggled, he bowed quickly as he offered a rolled parchment to Roxxy. She leaned in closer, gently touching the fellow’s shoulder with her hand as she took the parchment with her other. “Bonsoir, mon ami. You are far from home. What is this you are offering me?”

He stared at her in silence as she unrolled the message and began to read. “Oh, poor woman! Very sad for such a regal lady to suffer so…” Roxxy motioned for the messenger to follow her. Spying her maidservant down the hallway, she called out, “Elly! Venez ici! Take this boy and give him plenty of food. See that he bathes, has clean clothes, and a soft bed for rest.” She pulled a small bag from her bustier and tossed it to the maiden. “This should take care of the expense.” The maidservant bowed her head in acknowledgement and took the messenger away.

Roxxy proceeded to her dressing room, walking straight toward the writing table. She lifted the top of the table and removed writing tools and parchment. She dipped the pen in the dark ink, and began writing on the clean parchment.

To the Impresario of Britain

Mon Cher Ami,

So good of you to relay the urgent message to me! Merci beaucoup! I will be leaving the troupe for a while. Please relay to the Lady Tika that I am on my way to the residence of the Duchess Molly. I am counting on your servant to guide me quickly and safely to her abode.

Roxxy left the parchment on the table, allowing the ink to dry. From the doorway of her dressing room she spotted the stage manager. He would surely know a fellow who could be entrusted to carry the message to the Impresario of Britain. Roxxy made her way over to the stage manager, smiling warmly as she caught his eye. She came very close, leaning toward his ear as she whispered her request. He nodded, uttering a short “aye” as he watched her walk back to her dressing room.

Roxxy took the parchment, rolled it loosely, and bound it with a red satin ribbon. Then she flipped off her sandals and sat on the side of her bed. She must prepare for an early start in the morning. Roxxy inhaled deeply, closed her eyes, and began to meditate.

After several physicians had seen the Duchess in her frozen state and had not found a plausible solution, Shihan started looking once again to the implausible. The Duchess had premonitions about this time and even worse of its outcome. It was time to see if those premonitions could help determine the cause of her condition. He needed to find Mrs. Dubois or another soothsayer to see if something could be divined from her nightmares.

Leaving the guild house and the Duke to deal with the multitude of healers, he left for Luna to find a clairvoyant who could help him in his search for answers.
