Annawen looked over the week's schedule and sighed softly,"may as well get started on this now..so I have free time to search for Ashi this week...,"she said as she picked up her red feathered quill pen and began to write.

Lord Swiftar,

It is with great pleasure I write to you...the Phoenix Alliance wishes to invite you and the Legion into a possible trade agreement that will perhaps benefit us all and lead to a full alliance. I look forward to hearing from you soon and setting up a meeting time to discuss everything.

Sealing the letter she stood up and motioned for her guard,"have this taken to the messenger waiting outside...pay him well for it is to be delivered to Lord Vaen Swiftar,"she said as her guard bowed low,"hai m'lady..,"the guard said and faded into the shadows.

Taking a deep breathe she turned back to her desk and marked off the letter to Vaen then looked over to where her year old son was playing and smiled,"almost time for your bath Akira...,"she said as he looked at her a moment then went back to playing.

Shaking her head with a laugh she moved back to her chair and sat down, once again looking over the schedule.

"Sir, there's a letter here for you..."

"Hmm? Oh, right. Let me have it." Vaen nodded to the messenger boy and received the note. He looked around for something to tip the boy with, and spotted a nearby blueberry muffin. Shrugging, he handed it to the boy. Puzzled, yet thankful, the boy nodded and left.

He glanced over the note, nodding slowly. "Trade agreement, hrmm... to lead to a full-scale alliance." Vaen tapped his chin slightly with a grin, and prepared a response.

Dearest Lady Annawen Murakama,

I regret to inform you that I've not heard much about the Phoenix Alliance. But do not be dishearted, for this is not a negative reply. I would much like to meet with you and discuss what exactly you wish to trade, and what it is you are about.

As for meeting times, the Legion is quite busy on Monday nights with training, and will soon be busy on Wednesday nights with an up and coming weekly event. Other days, however, I am usually free.

Take your time in response, and let me know when is best for you. Until then, be well and be safe.

Sincerely,
Vaen Swiftar
Proconsul
Legion of Justice

Vaen placed the letter face-down. Reaching over, he grabbed his candle and placed his ring into the hot wax. Pressing the face of the ring down on the back of the letter, he imprinted the Legion of Justice seal; scales with the word "Mistas" on the top and bottom of the scales, forming a circle. He then rolled up the letter and tied it with a ribbon.

"Hmmm..." Vaen said as his hand reached over to his plate, "Now where did that b---..." He looked at his plate which is now empty. Shaking his head, "Bah, I gave my last muffin to the message boy. Now I need to find him so that he may deliver this letter. ... And hopefully he hasn't eaten my muffin."

Annawen sat on the porch of the Nest and looked out across the ocean, her mind once again on her husband,"Momma!!,"she heard her oldest son yelling as he ran to her holding a letter.

"Heavens Sashi don't scare me like that..,"she said as she stood up and took the letter,"now go wash up dinner is almost ready...,"she said as he nodded his head and moved inside.

Watching him a moment longer she sat down and unsealed the letter then began to read.

Dearest Lady Annawen Murakama,

I regret to inform you that I've not heard much about the Phoenix Alliance. But do not be dishearted, for this is not a negative reply. I would much like to meet with you and discuss what exactly you wish to trade, and what it is you are about.

Sincerely,
Vaen Swiftar
Proconsul
Legion of Justice

Smiling abit Annawen once again stood and moved into the house then up into her and Ashi's bedroom to sit at her desk and write out a reply.

Lord Swiftar,

Fear not I am not dishearted at your letter and it would please the Phoenix very much if you were to meet with me and allow me to give you a guided tour of our lands as well as our Trade House. Then if you wish we will return to my home and I would be happy to answer any questions you have about our little family.

Respectfully,
Lady Annawen Murakama
Tejinashi-Ryuu
Dragon Samurai

Sealing the letter with the seal of the Phoenix she stood up and walked out into the kitchen,"Sashi...take this to town and find a messenger...,"she said then handed him the letter as well as a bag of coins.

"Ok momma..,"he said as he grabbed his cloak and bolted out the door,"Guard..,"Annawen called as one of their guards appeared before her,"do not let him out of your sight..,"she said as the guard bowed low then disappeared, keeping an eye on the young boy.
