|
Aerie tossed and turned in her bed, the evening after her involvement in the battle of Sanctus's southern boundary. The battle against their newest foe, the elves of house Nazduin, left her mind to wander that evening.
Dreams of past events started with her rescent involvment with the purging of necromancy.
Talon stood at the foot of the burning pit. He threw the first round of burning flasks into the pit, causing the elf, known as Mairil Nazduin, to set ablaze. "Continue feeding the flames sargeant!!* Aerie turned her eyes to the elf burning at the stake. Her hands emerged in her sights as she gestured a gust of wild fire into the pit, adding her flames to the potions. She had no problems following the orders of her king. However, something about burning this elf, a kin of aerie's by race, made her feel dirty inside.[i]
Suddenly, has her first dream faded from her, another dream quickly replaced it:
[i]Mist formed in Aerie's eyes, as her hand shakingly raised in front of her as she waved her goodbyes to an elf special to her heart, the former queen of AzurHierin, Isilmea. It was a painful loss, her link to her elven heritage.
Another dream suddenly formed in her mind, the face of Isilmea fading her her dreams:
A soft cry escaped her lips as her palm opened up before her eyes, a ruby engagement ring glinting in the light of Spawn's office. Spawn sat there, a cold look in his eyes, sat there as he watched her place the ring on his desk.
The dream suddenly ended as another took its place:
Her eyes looked up as spawn loomed over her, yelling at her about how weak and pathetic she was. Her shrill voice responded about her wishes for his fate to be a horrible one. Suddenly, his hand formed a fist, connected it with her face. Her hands then raised, in ridged strain, as she bombarded him with spells. A demand to arrest her had been shouted to Ayasha, who moved forward. Aerie's hands slowly came up, shackled in restraining cuffs. She then ended up in jail.
Then another dream slowly slipped into her mind not as abruptly:
Dan sat before her, at a table in Hanse Hostel. His face relaxing, his voice calm and reassuring, told her why it was just not meant to be. But he still wanted her to be happy, but how? Aerie's eyes looked down at the table, they became misty with sorrow.
Her final dream came as the most horrible as they came:
The elf continued to burn away on the stake in front of Blackgard. His handsome face burned away. A voice then echoed in her mind.... MURDERER!!
At this, she finally woke up, screaming to the top of her lungs. She then realized that she had a horrible dream but of the past pains she experianced in her life under the Sanctus banner.
Her battle uniform lay there, placed neatly at the foot of her bed. She hurried to put them on.
She quickly made her way to Hanse Hostel. There she seen Vaen and Mallory. As she spoke to them, the door opened behind her. She then turned to view an elf of House Nazduin entering. As she looked to him, he scoffed at her and walked away. She turned to Vaen, her voice filled with sorrow. "I...I.. feel as if i regret my actions.... the poor elf on the stake. I know the laws against necromancy.. b..but.., her eyes filled with tears... "Why did i have to kill an elf??? I..I wish I was never ordered to take part in that horrible execution.. "
Suddenly, the elf approached her asking if she truely regretted her actions, and her following a human lowborn king. She turned to him and nodded slowly. He then gestured for her to follow him. She followed him outside the tavern. He gestured a gate that lead her to his Nazduin palice. The terrain was cold and forboding. He asked her if she was willing to leave her king's side. She nodded slowly. Her path became clear as she removed the cloak adorning sanctus's gold color. Another elf came up to her, giving her a blood red cloak to adorn her already black armor. _________________
