The silence of the night surrounded her, she sat facing the fountain writing quickly. Her descriptive words gave life to the picture painted in her head and the blank page before her began to burn with the image of the courtyard around her. Her words rang silently in her head, my face shall be the last you see before you sleep, and the first you see when you awake... She had best head back, she had been out to long, else she would not keep her promise. Flipping the page over she stared at her picture, the gentle fountain, the smooth wooden benches and the purple flowers outstretched towards the moon perfuming the air. Yet the picture had picked up a familiar shape, the shape of a man with a scar by his eye standing nearby. Leaping from where she sat, she shrieked and turned on her red slippered foot, running as fast as her legs would carry her back to the door of her safe haven just a few yards away….

His hand enclosed around her arm dragging her back just as she reached the steps that lead to her safetly, to one who would protect her from her attacker. The pad with picture ensconced on it fell clattering down laying haphazardly on the steps. Aryanna struggled wildly her feet digging into the ground, and wondered madly how he had found her here, where she had been hiding for days. .

A strong arm snaked around her waist and she opened her mouth to scream but a heavy object rained down upon her head slicing across her forhead. She fell limp and motionless against her attacker. The silence of the night returned broken only by the gentle crunch of booted feet as they hurried quickly away. He had taken no notice of the notepad that lay on the steps or the drop of blood that had fallen upon it from her bleeding forehead. He rushed away with her, a brand new whip perched in one hand and Aryanna thrown over a shoulder like a sack of flower.

She would pay for the trouble she had caused, indeed she would pay....

It had been an eventful night, as Astrum fell asleep his love Aryanna uttered the sentence…”my face shall be the last you see before you sleep and the first you see when you awake”. He smiled and fell asleep quickly. He awoke the next morning to disappointment as she was not there by his side. As soon as he dressed he prepared to leave his home. When he got outside and looked down he noticed a note pad with blood on it, on his steps. His eyes narrowed and muttered to himself”She is in trouble; I never thought this would happen.” He then immediately summoned his Ethereal steed and began to ride toward the city of Wind; he spoke as he rode “I am coming try to hold out as long as you can”

Giggling, Lotte looked around the yard of her friend’s house. She was sure Aryanna would love to hear her new song. She couldn’t wait to sing it for her. Getting off her hiryu, she walked up to the front door, humming happily to herself. Turning she smiled as the hiryu had decided to follow her.

“Harmony, stay there. I will be back in a few minutes, I promise.” She watched as the hiryu turned around then walked back to the entrance. “Good birdie,” she said, nodding. She knocked on the door, and then stood waiting patiently. When there was no response, she opened the door and peered in.

Hide and seek? She thought, looking around the area. Slowly concentrating, she began to sing, looking around the room.

Those who hide, come sing with me.
Those who hide, come dance with me.
Let my music find you please
Come out, come out and sing with me.

She waited a moment, and then sighed, realizing no one was in the house. Maybe Astrum knows, she thought. She ran back outside to her hiryu.

“Alright, Harmony, to Astrum. Maybe he knows where Ary is.” With a simple spell, she was transported to the front of his home.

Leaving her animal behind, she ran inside. “Astrum,” she called, looking around the house. “Where are you?” Noticing the disarray, she frowned. “Astrum? Are you hurt?” she yelled, looking around again, trying to figure out what had happened inside the house. She went to a chair and sat down, biting her lip as she tried to focus her thoughts on the room, clearing her mind of any lingering song. Suddenly, her eyes went to a picture on the floor. Picking it up, she saw the man looming threateningly within the picture. She began to breathe deeply, realizing that Aryanna was in trouble. Dropping the picture, she ran back to the hiryu before collapsing, losing all thought but the music flooding her mind.

Aryanna’s feet were cut and bleeding her beautiful red slippers long since gone. The harsh environment of the cave would slow anyone down but she had no choice she had to keep running and hiding. She could see the exit it was but a few short feet away and she almost cried out in happiness. She remained silent as she could still hear his heavy footfalls behind her. Why would he not leave her be, she dove forward, out of the darkness where she hid, onto the stone exit and appeared suddenly in the hallway exit of the Winds pass. Without looking she thru up her hands chanting and as he pursued her thru the exit she paralyzed him, Vincent landed frozen in place next to her. She rose and ran blindly forward and shrieked when two strong arms wrapped around her. Aryanna! Astrum spoke in her ear as she struggled in fright and she fell against him happily.

Astrum you came! She looked over to see Lotte positioning herself between Aryanna and the frozen Vincent and smiled at her friend. Lotte you came to!

Astrum made a motion to pull his sword from his side and Aryanna placed her hand over it. Astrum we must go we must get away. He agreed only to keep her safe from the Villain, noticing her paralyzation spell beginning to wear off. Conjuring a gate off his rune book she flew thru the portal with Astrum and Lotte right behind her. Vincent took a diving leap thru it as well and arrived right next to Aryanna. She shrieked and he attacked her viciously, slicing her arm with his sword and aiming at her heart. Astrum turned happy at last to dispel the fool. With a long practiced sweep of his blade he removed Vincent's head from his body. With a loud thunk, the head and body fell and Aryanna succumbed at last to the pain and fell also. Shoving the corpse from him he picked up Aryanna gently and Lotte ran on ahead opening the door for him and following him to lay her down.

He thought to himself as they spent the next few hours bandaging her and reviving her. At least she is safe, and I will see that mine is the first face she sees from now on upon waking. He chuckled softly to himself.
