Cove was quiet in the dawn hours of July 3rd. Too quiet. The children that were playing on the ramparts stoped running as they could hear the distant sounds of thundering hoofsteps and horses from a large force of Cavalry closing in slowly. The children stood in awe unsure to be scared or to seem astounded by the sight of Knights and Cavaliers riding on their horses to the main gate. They didn't seem hostile as none of them weilded their weapons. Their galt was that of a walk and no haste was made to move towards the main gate.
The towns folk looked upon them with puzzlement and in some cases a few even ran. But those that remained could tell that this was an army that didn't come to conquer. It came to make a base of operations and serve as its protectors.
The Blackwind banner went up signaling to all who gaze up in that the Blackwinds are making a home in Cove.
Later that day, a crier was sent to invite the towns people to a meeting. A meeting where Duke Adin would address their concerns.
Adin walks in with one of his aides and a personal bodyguard.
"Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen of Cove. I am Duke Adin of Blackwind. I am sure many of you have questions as to why we are here. Let me asure you that our presence is to serve as protectors. We have no desire to change your way of life nor to impose any laws. We however are willing and able to enforce your laws as soldiers and lawmen alike. We will keep the threat of Orcs away and keep you safe. All we ask for in return is to call this place home. Are there any questions?"
One of those gathered seem to speak for the crowd. "M'lord, forgive our questions, but why come in force? Why come at all? And why Cove?"
Adin responded calmly and looked the man in the eye. "Fair questions. Fair Questions indeed.... We the Blackwinds have been in exile from our homeland since my father's passing. The reason we came in force is that we have no place to call home. As for why come at all...We have heard that Cove has survived under strife and its people are a people of pride and valor. Traits in which Blackwind was founded so many years ago. I chose Cove for a number of reasons, first, its beautiful landscape. Second, its defensive abilities and last, its access to the waterways."
The man with the question seemed convinced but still had his reservations.
Adin saw that the people were still a bit uneasy with the New Blackwind presence. "People of Cove, My intentions here are honorable ones. Give us time to prove to you that we are here to benefit each other. While my men are here to provide you with protection, our presence here will also boost your economy as well as help organize trade routes with other cities. We are not here to govern you or tell you what to do. Does this ease your concerns a bit?"
The bulk of the people could be seen talking amongst themselves and for a moment, Adin saw some of their leaders nodding.
"Do you swear by the virtues that you will not interfear with our local government unless asked to do so by us?" asked the same man who asked the first set of questions.
Adin looked back and responded: "By the virtues, I swear that I nor the Blackwinds will interfear with the local government and that we shall only enforce your laws until otherwise requested by the people of Cove."
The man came forth and shook Adin's hand as he said "Welcome to Cove M'lord." The room burst out in cheer and claping. And so the Blackwinds have established themselves a new home in Cove |

Illadar rode his steed through the forests toward Cove for his usual visit and plotting of his once owned town. He heard an unusual bustle of noise from the quiet town of Cove.
Stopping his steed just out of sight of the gates to Cove, he saw the flags of Blackwind flying over the gates. Illadar let out an insanely loud, blood chilling screech as he rears his steed onto its hind legs.
My town...the blasted fools have moved in on my town!
The red energies in his eye sockets swirl and eminate somewhat of a mist as energy is released from his eye sockets.
They will pay for this...but first I must uncover what blessing it is that Lord Bailos gave me...and train my mager to what it once was...
Illadar let off another screech as he turns his steed and rode off. _________________ - Illadar
