Wynter looked at the letter from her father and sighed softly," how can this be...,"she said as she looked down to Henry who lay in the basket next to her chair. William was out for the moment, most likely hunting with some of the alliance members, leaving her to start work on their house.
"I will have to speak with Lord Isk on this matter and seek out his council...,"she said as Henry stared up at her," he is a wise man and will know how is the best way to handle this situation...,"she said as she set the letter down and picked up the feathered pen of her husband.
Lord Isk,
I have a few things I wish to speak to you about, I have recently come into some lands and not exactly sure of how to go about claiming it...I was hoping to have your wisdom and input on the matter...contact me as soon as you have the time.
Many Thanks,
Lady Wynter Hollingston McKonovick
Lady of Valoria
After sealing the letter with the Pheonix seal she set it aside and began to work on another, this one a letter to her husband's friend Lady Molly. She knew it would be the only way to get to know this woman who had stood by her husband during his trial.
Lady Molly,
I am writing to you on behalf of my family, we wish to thank you for your support and words of reassurance during William's trial. I know things between the two of us are rather sketchy at the moment and I know it is my fault, however I am willing to offer you an olive branch for my husband's sake. If at anytime you need help or just someone to talk to, please feel free to send me a letter.
Many Thanks,
Lady Wynter Hollingston McKonovick
Lady of Valoria
"Lily...,"she called out as she sealed the second letter," I need these two letters delivered to Lord Isk and Lady Molly..," she said as she stood up and handed them over to the nanny," pay the messenger well...,"she said as she smiled," yes m'lady..is there anything else?," the young nanny asked as she slipped on her cloak," no that will be all..,"she said as Lily headed out the door and into town to do seek out the messenger for her Mistress.

A letter arrives by messenger bound by a red and gold ribbon bearing the seal of the House of the Gauntlet.
Greetings MeLady Wynter,
I hope this correspondence finds you, William and the young one in good health. It was my honor to stand with him at his trial. We have been friends for many years.
There is no need to be concerned, MeLady. Many years of walking these lands has taught me that not everyone likes me nor do they speak highly of me. Here is a place where assumptions, inuendos and rumors become common place and make their way into the web that people know to be fact where no fact exsists. All that I can ask of anyone is that they take the time to get to know me and give me the chance to know them and those falsehoods will disolve away and the truth will be left. Yes I am not perfect nor do I profess to be but they just may find that I am not all that bad either.
I thank you for giving me that chance and I look forward to getting to know you better. I accept the olive branch you offer and extend to you my hand in friendship. If you ever need anything at all please do not hesatate to ask.
Yours in Friendship,

Wynter sighed softly as she watched her young son nurse from his bottle, hearing a knock at the door she watched as their chambermaid moved to answer it," who is it Lily..?,"she asked as she pulled the bottle from her son's mouth and stood up,placing him upon her shoulder.
"A messenger m'lady...,"she said as she closed the door and walked over to her mistress, taking Henry as she handed over the red and gold banded scroll,"oh Lady Molly..,"Wynter said as she kissed her son's head gently then moved up to her husband's office,to read the letter in peace and quiet.
After stepping into his office she closed the door and moved to sit on the couch infront of the fireplace, her eyes dancing as she read over the contents,"perhaps I will invite her to tea at the Alliance Hall....,"she said as she stood up and moved to her husband's desk then sat down.
Lady Molly,
Your letter did find myself and William in good health but our son Henry has a slight cold,do not fear he is under a good healer's care and watchful eye. I am writing to you perhaps for the chance for us to have tea at the Alliance Hall in Luna,I will allow you to pick a time for I am available most nights at 10:30 by the eastern sky.
Respectfully,
Lady Wynter McKonovick
Sealing the letter with red wax then placing the Pheonix seal in the middle she stood up and carried the scroll down to Lily,"Lady Molly in Luna please...and wait for a response..,"she said as Lily handed Henry to her then slipped on her cloak and took the scroll gently.
"Aye as you wish m'lady..,"she said as she bowed and moved out towards the stables to get her mount. |

Will and she had been sitting together by the pond in the elven garden atop the guild house. The sun was warm in the sky and he had dozed off as she read to him from one of the many books in the library. She smiled over at him as he had lay his head down on his forearms as she was reading. His eyes were closed as if dreaming of the places in the book.
She heard a noise as the doors opened on the first floor. She looked towards the teleporter. She knew that it was probably Shihan with more paperwork so she stooped and kissed Will gently on the forhead. He sturred a bit but remained asleep. She stood and walked towards the teleporter and went down to meet him.
It was Shihan but with a message. He said that a Woman had brought it to the gates as he was coming in. She thanked him and took the parchment. He told her the woman was waiting for a response and she nodded. "Please tell her to get a cool drink from the kitchen and see that she eats something will you?" He nodded smiling as if he was going to enjoy this task. "That's my kind of work." He said curtly as he left the room. She laughed as he took off up the stairs to the meeting hall where she was waiting.
She read the letter and nodded to herself. She got a quill from the shelf in the library and used one of the shelves to write a response. "I really should finish the restorations." she mumbled not having a desk or chair to use.
Dear Lady Wynter,
I would be honored to meet with you.
Please advise as to the location of this tea. Perhaps a gate to there from Luna proper.
I will be available on Wednesday at the tenth hour past noon. Please let me know where to meet your gate or if you could send someone to lead the way I do not mind a bit of travel. It heartens the soul.
I look forward our meeting then.
Yours in friendship,
Molly
She rolled up the parchment and affixed her own seal. She stood and called up to the second floor. Shihan came huffing down stairs, red in the face.
"Something wrong Shihin?" She said with a smirk. His face got even redder and she began to wonder what had happened and one of her eyebrows lifted gracefully as she tilted her head and smile a bit at him.
"No...nothing...MeLady." he stammered as he grined at her. "Now is that letter finished MeLady?" he said to change the subject.
She laughed and said, "Yes it is and you can go find that young lady and take this back to her. Tell her thank you and try to pay her for her troubles. She may not take it but offer on my behalf anyway please. And be sure she has escort to Luna. With the situation around here lately it would not due to put her in danger."
He nodded and picked up a handful of gold from the treasury box. He put it in a yellow bag and pulled the ties tight. He then nodded to Molly. "By your leave MeLady?"
She nodded dismissing him. She then headed for the teleporters. Upon arriving back in the garden she looked over. He was still sleeping among the flowers near the pond. She went over to him and lay beside him watching the clouds roll by until she dozed off herself in the warm sun as a soft breeze blew through the trees of the garden. _________________ Grand Duchess Molly Kaldhel

Wynter looked around the room and smiled,"this is coming along nicely..,"she said as she held the decorator tool in her hand," Lady Wynter..,"Lily called as she slid off her mount and moved inside," yes Lily..is everything alright you seem abit flushed...,"she asked as she took the scroll and looked to her young nanny," oh i am fine m'lady...just thinking of someone...that is all..,"Lily said as she removed her cloak and hung it up near the door.
"Someone I know perhaps?,"Wynter asked as Lily shook her head," no m'lady...but it would please me greatly to one day return to Lady Molly's..,"she said as she moved into the kitchen to help the chef with the night's dinner, causing Wynter to laugh softly and look to her husband as he walked inside,"it would seem our nanny is in love..,"she said as William merely smiled then moved to look down at his son.
Unscrolling the letter she smiled as she read its contents then stepped over next to her husband,"here love...a letter from Lady Molly..,"she said as William took the scroll and read it over while tickling his son's stomach gently. |

(moved to follow story)
It was still early in the afternoon as Shihan arrived at the Duchess’s official residents. He dismounted his magical beast and brushed off and straightened his robes. Just coming up on a horse was a young lady who seemed in a hurry. Smiling at the young lady, he nodded and bid her a passing greeting.
Only then did he realize that she was coming to the Duchess’s house herself. Not knowing her business and with what was happening in the land at this time he immediately became suspicious of her. The fact that a person had come to the Duchesses residents rather than the official court got his cackles up.
“May I be of assistance?” he asked her directly.
“I have a letter of Lady Molly.” she said as she dismounted and looked for a place to tie up the horse.
Shihan quickly surveyed the area and decided that she had come alone. She did not seem anything other than a messenger, and could even be a rather cute one under the riding cloak. “I am with the Duchess’s House and am about to see her with some other official papers. Allow me to take the message and I will see she receives it.”
The messenger looked slightly distracted. Gathering up what looked like a little courage to speak she said “I am suppose to, ummmm, wait for a reply. I…. I guess I can wait out here for it.”
The sun was beating down on the front dais of the house and Shihan thought sitting in the sun would probably be uncomfortable. “Your mount will be ok here. Please come with me inside to wait for me to find her.”
He outstretched his hand waiting for the message to add to the pile he had in his other.
She took out from her riding robe a scroll with a red wax seal of a phoenix and handed it to Shihan and curtsied. Not a regular messenger, he thought, her finger nails were to well taken care of and the hands were not callused, probably a royal house servant.
He nodded and placed a key in the gate the allowed her to pass as he secured it behind him. He opened the door and motioned for her to take a seat on one of the chairs in the atrium. Looking around he did not see any servants so he said he would return quickly and went to look for the Duchess.
Hearing the teleporter from the Duchess’s personal quarters going off, Shihan turned to find the Duchess moving his direction. Bowing, Shihan shuffled the papers he held into a neater pile. “Mlady, I have daily reports and a message personally delivered by a messenger downstairs who arrived at your house gates just as I did.” He placed the pile of paperwork on a nearby table and motioned to it, but handed the single scroll to the Duchess. “She is waiting for a response Mlady.”
Thanking him, she looked at the scroll. A smile appeared on her face as she instructed him to get her some food and drink from the kitchen. Ahhhh, I get to entertain that young lady instead of writing a letter for the Duchess. “That’s my kind of work” he stated frankly and nodded as he left back for the atrium.
The woman was still sitting where he had left her, hands folded in her lap, back straight on a backless bench. “The Duchess has instructed me to offer you food and drink from the kitchen.” he announced as he reentered the room. She looked up and smiled than offered her a polite “Thank you.”
“May I take the cloak miss?” Shihan felt extremely gallant all of a sudden.
Her eye’s narrowed a little but she smiled back at him. “Yes please.” She said as she removed the cloak and handing it to him.
“Please this way.” He motioned up the stairs as he hung the cloak up on a rack. Watching her sway as she walked up the stair case towards the kitchen was a pleasant site he thought.
In the kitchen Shihan used his culinary skills to quickly create fruit and vegetable tray and placed it on the counter next to where he had left the young woman. Pouring two glasses of fresh milk he took one and offered to her as he spoke. “I am remiss in introducing myself. My name is Shihan, and I am attached to the House Gauntlet Guard.”
Accepting the glass she nodded. “I work for the Lady Wynter’s family, my name is Lily.”
Shihan was having trouble keeping eye contract as he talked with the young lady. She had what seemed to be an impressive body that was close to his taste from what he could tell. They spoke of the weather and of current events with no particular direction being taken.
The shout from the Duchess downstairs brought him to attention and startled Lily into dropping her fork. Both of them bent over to pick it up and the view that Shihan got at that moment was more that he had expected and he instantly flushed. To make matters worse Lily looked up and into Shihan’s face exposing even more than before. As he was not even close to looking in her eye’s at that moment he now became fully flustered mumbled excuses and headed for the stairs as fast as possible.
Taking two stairs at a time came upon the Duchess at the bottom. “Is something wrong Shihan?” she asked. The look on her face flushed him even more. “Nothing Mlady” was all he could think of to say, and worse he could not get the stupid grin off his face. Seeing a letter in her hand he quickly added to change the subject, “Now is that letter finished Mlady”
Great, now she was laughing at him. “Yes it is, and you can go find that young lady and take this back to her. Tell her thank you and try to pay her for her troubles. She may not take it but offer on my behalf anyway please. And be sure she has an escort to Luna. With the situation around here lately, it would not do to put her in danger.”
Wonderful he thought. This should be easy. Take my gawking arse back in there and see what I can salvage of her and my dignity I guess. Nodding reluctantly to the Duchess, Shihan accepted the letter, grabbed both some gold coins, and a sack to put them in from the treasury box, asked and received permission to be dismissed and headed slowly back up the stairs.
Clearing the landing he saw the young lady with her arms now firmly folded over her chest, red faced and grinning at him. Oh fantastic, at least she has a sense of humor he thought as he looked at her. Clearing his throat as he got closer he explained the Duchess’s wishes and handed the letter and bag to her.
She tried to hand the bag back to him but Shihan was not going to have anything to do with it. “The view was worth the price.” he mumbled under his breath as he turned to head for the stairs.
The smack on the back of the head caught him off guard as he realized he must have spoken to loud. He turned to see Lily with a leer on her face and hands firmly planted on her hips.
“Ouch, ok I deserve that.” He said sheepishly, realizing he had been twice in one day but this woman. “Please allow me to escort you Luna before I get in any more trouble.”
“Yes, it is the least you can do considering.” Her words were cutting but the sweet tones in her voice seem to suggest otherwise.
He helped her with her cloak and assisted her onto the horse. Creating his mount they road together in a personal silence to the Luna moongate. Shihan to care to be as gentlemanly and proper as possible when they arrived. “Please take care on the rest of your passage, and I hope to meet you again in the future.”
When she mailed at him he felt his cheeks redden. “Thank you and I hope to meet you again as well.”
As she disappeared into the gate Shihan thought that he would not mind meeting and “seeing” her again. _________________ Shihan Reckoning
