|
The following is a speech delivered to a massive crowd assembled in Umbra. Transcripts of the speech were then delivered to key areas throughout Malas, especially the southern end. Copies were also made special to deliver to all members of the Alliance.
===================================
Lo, great peoples of Malas!
[[intersparsed with frequent cheering and applause from the crowd]]
As the sun rises behind me, so too does the sun rise on the dawn of a renewed prosperity for Umbra and her people. Opportunities abound for those willing to give of themselves for the good of Umbra.
Nature herself blesses us with bountiful harvests of wheats, oats and barley. Breweries, Bakers, Markets, Tailors...they all flourish under the banner of a new Ministry. One dedicated to the preservation of our glory, and promotion...Of A Better Malas *holds for cheering and applause*
Umbra will not pay for the sins of the past under the tyrant rule of religious fanatics. No, we stride forth together as a new people. One free of opression and bondage. One guided by the ideals of a nation, rather than one person. United as a diverse collection of men, women, children...families...from all walks of life, all creeds, all races joined together in dedication to the future.
There are those that would try to stop us, those that would reject us and write us off as ghosts of the past not fit to be treated as equal humans. There are those that doubted that this day would come. But what are they to say now? We -will- return Umbra to her glory. A full restoration of our traditional power and rights as a sovereign nation. A return to the traditional and geographical boarders we deserve. None shall dare test the collective will and might...of an Empire united!
*Raises a hand skyward, palm facing up*
For A Better Malas...! |

As the cheers subsided, a man, wearing the garb of a fairly wealthy landowner, and glowering, spoke up loud enough for all to hear. "What about a little protection for the common folk here?!! I was attacked on my way home not two days ago by Treefellows of all things!!"
Another voice chimed in. "Aye!! Me too. They came up to my place and began trying to tear the house down! I had to fight for my life!! Never seen anything like it!"
"So was I," cried another man. "What are you all going to do about it?!" |

Turning his raise palm upside down he attempted to quiet the crowd. He could feel the tension all the way up on the balcony. They were mumbling...questioning. Here was a moment to solidify, to bond them to him. To drive forward the grand ambitions of The Ministry.
Good People. The Lands in which the Treefellow dwell are territory claimed by the Royal Council of Light. We can only speculate as to why these once noble creatures have turned rampant, but it is no doubt the vile work of the self righteous.
We are not without sword arm. The forces of Umbra will reach out to her people and protect them from this perversion of the Treefellow. We will take back the land which is rightfully ours, and cure these poor beasts.
Looking down on the crowd as if for approval, Bailos took note as the men and women assembled began to nod to each other. Patriotism and Nationalism swelling inside of them after the previous speech left this as a moment of...perfect timing.
The foundations were laid for a new political and military machine. And the people of Umbra...loved it. |

Standing somewhere in the middle of the crowd, so short at her 5'1 that most of those gathered towered over her, she started a round of cheering.
"For Umbra... and for Malas!" she shouted.
The people gathered in the crowd picked up on the chant, feverishly, shouting in motivated excitement. The excitement in the crowd was even spreading to her, and she felt extremely energetic in her will to ensure that Bailos, and thereby, The Ministry, succeed.
Ceinwyn watched Bailos with pride as he stood on the balcony. Here was a leader, someone to take control and bring The Ministry to glory. Here was the rightful wraith-lord. She recalled a few words they had exchanged a while back, and smiled deviously to herself.
He WILL succeed! |

Illadar stood at the very back of the crowd, he had just recently put on the item that was given to him to disguise him and make him look human. His head bald, and only facial hair on his face he looked around. His eyes were reddish brown in color. He watched the crowd cheer and listened to the words of Bailos, his mentor and teacher.
At long last, success is on the horizon. Illadar thought. The Ministry will pick up respect as a government, but will be feared as a military. I will make sure of that.
Illadar grinned slightly as he began a chant.
"Long live Malas! Long live Umbra! Long live the Ministry!"
The crowd picked up the chant and began to shout out the chant.
Illadar stopped chanting after the crowd picked up and looked up at Bailos.
Long live Lord Bailos. Illadar thought, as he had full intentions of learning as much knowledge as he could from Bailos to aid in fulfilling everything and anything Bailos willed. _________________ - Illadar

Sethos glanced up at Bailos from the crowd his identity hidden from the naked eye as a result of the worn and heavy hooded cloak wrapped around him.
He was sure that while the Umbrans did not recognize the familar aura of Sethos in Umbra, the Wraith Lord did.
He could not help but crack the lightest of smiles at the sounds cheering and agreement coming from the crowd of around him as he parted his lips ever so slightly to utter a cryptic response to a seemingly unseen presence:
"Yes, the appointed time indeed..." |
