Smashing her hand upon the ground a bright red light flashed out from it. Rising slowly she stared at the spot and watched her patience ebbing. A spirit wandered slowly past her and she glared at it, she had been working all day. Gently she spoke to the spirit, would you not step closer? There was no answer but the spirit did move closer and her mood improved. Finally it stepped within the spot that her blood marked and she closed her hand in a grabbing motion. She could feel its essence resting in the palm of her hand. Kneel, she whispered to it. The spirit’s ghostly form kneeled on the ground before her. Smiling brightly she laughed her relief intense. It had looked so simple, but when she had actually started working on it, she had been tested by the delicate nature of the spell. Smiling she spoke to the spirit, I wish for you to seek out and tell me where my sister is. Roam these lands till you find her then report back to me. The spirit gave a slight nod and she opened her palm, to send it on its way. Closing her eyes she found she could see within her mind, thru the eyes of the spirit. She watched as it travelled across the lands, and moved thru towns and villages, rivers and streams.

Her mind flight was broken by the sound of his flapping wings soaring down from above her and she smiled turning to her faithful pet. I have done it my sweet, I captured a spirit and even now it runs to do my bidding. The bird tilted its head and stared at her. The bird looked at her strangely and gently floated up next to her head and pecked at her hair. Reaching her hand up she gave the bird a bewildered look. What is it? The bird hopped a bit, aah did my hair fade to black again? The bird nodded back at her. She closed her eyes and she shut her mind away from the spirits eyes her hair quickly returning to green. Its an odd side effect to be sure Mimus, it seems my hair cant make up its mind on colors. Black when I cast a spell, and green normally. Odd.

Shrugging she said: Now for my other task, the most important perhaps of all. Crooking a finger at the bird she motioned him to come closer. Kneeling on the ground she patted his head. I shan’t lose you, I am sorry Mimus but this must be done. The bird tilted its head and squawked as she grasped a handful of feathers and yanked them out. The bird made an angry sound and pecked viciously at her hand. She spoke to him soothingly, Mimus, trust me. The bird froze and looked up at her his great yellow eyes staring into hers. She smiled and removed a vial from her pack, and her dagger. The bird looked at the dagger then her and hopped up closer holding out its wing. Shade ruffled the soft feathers around his neck, I shall heal it once I have enough blood my friend. The bird turned its head away as she sliced the dagger gently into the top of its wing hitting a vein, holding the vial up she filled it with his blood. Placing her hand over the wound she closed her eyes, drawing on the spirit world for healing powers. The bird looked up at her quizzically and she leaned forward and gently kissed it on top of its head. We shall never be parted Mimus, I promise you that. The bird hopped closer and rubbed his shiny black head against her. Shade sighed, come Mimus I have toiled long and hard today, let us go and seek rest.
