Nightshade sat dangling her feet off the edge of her spiked bed. She was bored, she felt like a small child just sitting about and waiting for something exciting to happen. Her Mockingbird, Mimus, flew in the window and landed with a heavy thump on the floor before her. Yawning she stretched lazily and ran a stray hand thru her hair. Well what shall we do tonight my pretty little friend? The Mockingbird cooed appreciatively and remarked pretty little friend? A slow smile slipped across Nightshades face. Yes a pretty little friend, that’s it!
Leaping from the bed she ran over and pulled a large dusty book out of her trunk, it had been her fathers. Quickly and carelessly she flipped thru the pages of the spell book and finally she found what she was looking for. Quietly she repeated the words memorizing them as she spoke. Babaarcú de Nem Okos Nõ
Come my darling, she spoke to the bird wistfully, it is time to create! With a wave of her hand she set out for Alonwynn’s house. Mimus following close behind her.
Whispering to Mimus gently, she loves animals, bring her out. Mimus tilted his head and said Dead Pixies! Yes sweet Dead Pixies, now bring her out! Mimus nodded and flew to the front porch; he began to squawk loudly, and held his wing in a severely twisted fashion. Shade couldn’t help but giggle. He is such a clever little beast! Soon enough Alonwynn arrived at the front door.
Oh you poor thing!she heard the girl exclaim. Yet before she could stoop to help the ailing bird Nightshade was upon her and froze her quickly in place. Smiling at Alonwynn she grinned good-naturedly. You will be such a treasure to my collection! With a sharp thrust of her hand she spoke firmly Babaarcú de Nem Okos Nõ…
A bright light surrounded Alonwynn, and her skin grew hard and wooden. Slowly, the shrinking process began and her eyes remained unchanged blinking wildly. Shade could see the fear within them. She laughed happily. It works! It works! All the beautiful dolls I shall make! I wonder if I should sell them? I could be a great toy maker! A final cry escaped Alonwynns lips and the now shrunken Alonwynn, completed its final transformation, lying on the porch before her. She picked up the doll and stared into the eyes of the trapped Alonwynn. I see you in there! You should be honored you are a beautiful doll!
Eerily Shade moved the joints of the doll and giggled. Turning towards Mimus she raised her voice as if the doll was speaking and said: What do you think Mimus? Don’t I make a fine dolly? Clutching the doll she hugged it and laughed. Mimus we must find some new beautiful clothes for my Dolly, and a friend! Who was that young man she hangs around with…Leviathan? Let us go find Lord Leviathan. I would not want my doll to be lonely.
Then I think, I will head to town and take out a few peasants. It would be so neat to transform a few then sell them as dolls to their own children! How deliciously wicked!
Grinning she set out whistling, Mimus sitting on her shoulder, the doll clutched tightly in her hand.
I think I will make a couple for Xandy to and leave them as a present. In fact I think I shall leave a pair of these for each member of the Cabal. My, so much to do, I wonder which village I should head to first. Yew? Sanctus? Hmmm. I wonder if Xandy would like a pair of savages?
Happily she skipped forward, I think from now on I shall call myself the Toy maker.
As promised the next day she had wrapped Lady Alonwynn and Lord Leviathan up in a beautiful velvet case and set them upon shelf at home.
Then she set out to leave her beautiful dolls on the porches of Xandy, Cear, Narcissa, and Steel. With only a note attached to the poison green velvet box, tied up nicely with a black bow(filled of course with the helpless dolls of peasants) saying:
Enjoy! Now play nicely they break easily….
Yours Truly,
The Toy maker _________________ Something is Wrong, I can still feel Existence... |

I hate that paralyzing spell, even when it was being used in Jest. Alonwynn made a mental note to get a wild unicorn and take it to Nightshade. That thought of revenge was the only thing that cheered Alon up, as she remembered Xandria running though Skara for her life from the beautiful noble creature. But even that wasn’t enough.
Alonwynn lay in the dark velvet lined box, seething with silent anger. Not only did Nightshade choose to use Alonwynn for her personal entertainment, but she also used someone near and dear to her. This is unacceptable. It was hard enough for her to fathom getting out of the current situation she was in, but she also had to figure out a way not only for her but Levi too. She couldn’t leave him. Nightshade must have known that she wouldn’t leave alone.
Alonwynn was alive only in the tome of her mind. Escape seemed hopeless, the only hope she could think of was Narcissa. She laughed internally, knew she was doomed to remain there forever. Despair filled Alonwynn, as she believed that she would be there a long time. Her friends would miss her, but they would have no idea where to look for her. Alonwynn’s chances of being discovered in this immobile state seemed impossible. As there were no signs of struggle at her house.
Another thought came to Alon, how in the world did Nightshade know where to find her? Alon made a point of distancing herself from the Cabal. Whenever she crosses paths with the Zog Cabal it never bodes well for her. Then a thought struck her, she was supposed to have tea with Wisty today. Alonwynn prayed and hoped that Wisty remembered, and kept her sanity long enough to know there was something wrong with Alon.
Alon snapped to attention when the dark box opened to a crack for her to see the light of day, She felt her eyes go sad. As this may be the last time she will behold the beauty of daylight, or perhaps it was candle light. It was beautiful just the same. Then she heard Nightshade say aloud, “ You know it’s been a long time since I played with Dolls.”
A pale hand reached in for Alonwynn. The cold fingers encircled around her. Alonwynn’s eyes went from sad to angry as she thought Perhaps two Unicorns for Nightshade would do the trick, You just wait. |

Narcissa almost tripped over the package left on her doorstep. She was trying to shoo away the mocking bird Shade has been taken with. This is most definitely from Shade, She looked at the note
"they break easily?" Why on Earth would Shade even care about such a thing.
She undid the black bow and let the ribbon fall to the ground next to her feet. Slowly Cissa opened the box, and saw two very life like dolls.
Toys? What was this all about. She brought them inside and set them upon her table. Looking the dolls over and over, perhaps Nighty decided to take up a hobby. She grabbed for the doll and gasped
They were so life like it was uncanny. This particular one looked like a peasant from the town, as did the other. They eyes were so expressive, this one she had in her hand, it looked as if it were in a nightmare. Wide with unfathomable fear. Narcissa decided to smack it on the table to make sure it was made of wood. Just to make sure it was a toy.
The thunk sound was satisfying to Narcissa. Solid, the figure didn’t break as the note cautioned. That’s odd, she took off her gloves and handled the doll, Nightshade must have found her calling, and she is really quite talented at this. Then Narcissa noticed that her energy was increasing and the dolls eyes looked as if they were in pain and all of a sudden she felt the emotions of the toy. She gazed upon it once more, she noticed that the eyes that were displaying fear a moment ago were now looked as if it was in excruciating pain. She threw it across the room hearing two distinct thuds as the doll collided with a wall then fell to the floor.
“Nightshade, only you, only you" She sighed and shook her head. Someone must have been a little bored today and felt the need to entertain herself. She headed straight for Castle Blackrock, she knew she would be summoned sooner or later. holding the remaining peasant doll in her hand. Narcissa grinned and thought, Might as well, this one isn’t going anywhere anyway. |

Xandria stood staring at the box one the steps of her home. A present? Looking at it, she smiled. Green and black, Nightshade’s signature colors, were displayed on the box. Chuckling to herself, she picked up the tag and read,
Enjoy! Now play nicely they break easily….
Yours Truly,
The Toy maker.
Xandria shook her head, reading that. Nightshade, what are you up to this time? Picking up the box, she brought in the package, placing it on the black table. Rubbing her hands in glee, she slowly untied the black, velvet ribbon, letting the ends fall to the table. Then, she unwrapped the box carefully, and looked inside. A doll? Taking the doll in her hand, she looked at it in consideration. Staring at it, it dawned on her how familiar it looked. Looking closer at it, she began to laugh.
“Everyone was wondering where you went,” she told the doll, still clutching it. Smiling with a rare look of delight, she picked up the doll and ran to her altar. She carefully placed the doll next to the altar and clapped in her hands joyfully.
“Oh, you look perfect!” Xandria looked around and grabbed a box off her shelf.
“Musinin!” Xandria yelled, then smirked as demon appeared before her, staring at her balefully.
“Why do you disturb me, lowling?” Xandria stared coldly at the demon before handing him the box.
“Deliver this to Nightshade’s doorstep then leave. And, do not harm her while you are there.”
The Demon took the box, then looked up at Xandria. “Tiefling, when I learn your real name, I shall make you pay.” The demon stood glaring, unable to move.
“Yeah, whatever. Go.” Then demon disappeared and Xandria shook her head, staring at the empty space. Then, with a shrug, she turned back to the doll, and began to play. |

Shade blinked when a large demon appeared before her carrying a box.
My, my who sends you my way she said rubbing her hands excitedly.
A gift from Lady Xandria to (cough) Lady Nightshade.
Nightshade smiled at the demon. I see we have met before.
The demon stared at her knowingly. No, lowling but I have indeed heard of you.
Grinning Nightshade patted his large clawed arm and looked up at him. Batting her eyelashes she smiled at him. May I have the gift? The demon stared at her silently and handed the gift to her. With that he disappeared completely.
Shade frowned, with a wave of her hand she said, Demons always business before pleasure...... Turning she headed back into her house to open the box. _________________ Something is Wrong, I can still feel Existence... |

On one of his many midnight strolls, Wolfsbane stumbled over something in the dark brambles near his home. He reached down at his feet, and found a doll. It looks as though it had been deliberately thrown in these thorny bushes thought Wolfsbane. The little dress it was wearing was torn and coated with a thick layer of green moss-like slime. He resolved to take it home, and clean it up. "Perhaps you'll fetch me fair pile of gold," he said to the doll.
As he straightened up, he slid the doll into a pocket, and and stepped back toward his home. Unfortunately, as luck would have it, the clouds in the sky started to move a bit faster. The bright silver edge of the moon peeked from behind its cloud. Wolfsbane could not move. His legs were leaden, and he felt as though he were burning. HIs heart was pounding as a giant's fist upon a fortress gate.
Wolfbane's eyes changed, so that all that remained were vacant glowing crimson orbs. His body contorted, and his clothing began to stretch and tear. Where once was fair skin, was now sprouting endless strands of dark brown hairs. Screeching horrid sounds, his mouth stretched and protruded out. With a howled whimper, he grasped his new maw, with his gnarled and clawed hands. Abruptly, he leaped forward into the brambles he was so recently near, and scampered off into the woods. |
