Synful sat in her office that rested on the roof of her home and stared into the flames of the fireplace,her mind was racing with the events of the past few weeks.

"How can I do this alone...,?"she asked herself as she looked down to the paperwork she had to file in order for her divorce to go through.Hearing a knock on the door she lifted her gaze and looked to her maid,"m'lady a message came for your from the Major...,"Melinda said as she waited at the door for a moment before stepping inside and looking to her mistress.

Standing up Synful moved over and took the message from her,"thank you Melinda will you see that Malachai has finished his studies...,"she said as Melinda nodded her head then turned and disappeared leaving Synful to read over the message which read.


Lady Synful,

Please come to Castle Blackguard as soon as you can...

She slips the note into her cloak and moves out of her office door,"Melinda...see that Shadow is saddled and ready...,"she said as Melinda nodded her head and moved to speak with Synful's stable hand.

"Momma..where are you going now..?,"her son asked as he stepped over to her and reaches out to slide his tiny hand over the sheath that held her sword.

"I have been summoned to the Blackguard...,"she said as she kneeled down infront of him and pushed his hair from his eyes. "Is it about Poppa...?,"he asked as his dark green eyes looked into hers,"I don't think so...,"she said as she looked to Melinda just as she stepped into the room.

"Shadow is ready m'lady...,"Synful nodded her head and looked down to her son,"be a good boy ok....,"she said as he nodded his head and watched her disappear out the front door.

Stepping onto the grass she looked back over her shoulder and sighed softly,trying to think of a way to explain to her son about his father not being around much anymore. Hearing a soft snort she looked to her charger and smiled,"yes i know...your always ready to go aren't you?,"she said as she grabbed the saddle horn and slung herself up onto his back then turned him,"Blackguard..,"she said as he snorted once again and raced off through Luna then down across the bridge.

Finally reaching Blackguard she looked around a moment before dismounting and nodding to the stablehand as he led a still excited Shadow into the stables.

"Lady Synful....,"she heard James say as she started to climb the stairs,"Major..,"she said then looked around a moment before looking back to him,"is everything alright...?,"she asked as he shook his head then lowered his head.

"Lord Gabriel is no longer with us..,"he said causing her to raise an eyebrow,"of course he is...why wouldn't he be unless...,"she said then watched as he raised his head and looked to her,she could see the sadness on his face which caused her to gasp then grab the railing beside her.

"Does Lady Wynter know...?,"she asked softly as James nodded his head,"aye she was with him when he died...,"he said causing her to nod slowly,tears sliding down her face as the realization of the past months' events hit her.

Her miscarriage,the failure of her marriage...and now the lose of one of her best friend's.
