It had been some time since Maggy had thought about reopening the inn to guests. She had cleaned up the place only to find the note from Corzan. It had worried Nico so much that he had asked her to wait. Her love for him and trust in him was total so she agreed to his request.
He had been away for some time now working with the guild and doing some hunting. She was making the bed when she decided to write him. She got a piece of golden colored parchment from the bedside table and a quill and ink. Sitting propped up on the pillows they shared, she began her letter to him.
My love,
I think of you fighting those huge creatures, your armor glistening in the flashes of magic and flame and I always smile softly. You make quiet a spectical in my mind's eye my love. I miss you when you are away. I can not seem to be sated of your company darling. I ponder your return as I try and make our house a home. I have done some more arranging of things. I hope you like it. I can't wait for you to see it when you return.
I wanted to let you know that I have decided to open the Inn again for guests to stay. I feel the need to be active again. Our new home is coming together nicely and it is very comfortable but I wish to have something to occupy my time while you are away. It has been many weeks since we have seen the likes of Corzan and I don't fear him coming around any time soon after my last encounter with him. I do hope he remains of that frame of mind for many many years. A lifetime would be too soon to see him again. I know you will understand and I will wait another week or so before I open the tavern itself. That way I will not rush into anything should he show up unexpectedly.
Please do take care of yourself, for you are my life.
Always yours forever,
Maggy
After writing the letter she smiled sastified with it and carefully rolled it up. She pulled the ribbon from her hair that still smelled of rose petals and tied it carefully around the letter. She went to the desk and melted some sealing wax, dripping it on the ribbon to bind it. She called one of the locals and asked if they would like to make some coin. The young boy nodded and smiled. She asked him to find Lord Nicodemus and give him her message and gave him a small bag of gold. She also gave him two small packages. She told him one was for him and the other was for Nico. Inside, she told him were some cookies. He smelled the package, grined and ran off to find his quary.
She then set to work making a few posters to hang in the towns around the realm. Once she had finished them she put on her hat and headed to distribute the posters thoughout the cities and towns.

Nizzre rode along, sullen about the outcome of recent events. She had failed miserably to kill Mauric and in so doing had tipped her hand. She had lost an important list she had made, probably in Nujel'm, and, if found by enemies, would increase both the odds of success in her mission and the chance of capture. Worse, she had been badly wounded in the melee, her right arm still throbbing painfully from the cut one of the guards inflicted as she fled for her life at the palace.
She needed a refuge, a safehouse, where she could regroup and make new plans. As she rode past a bank, she noticed the flyer posted describing the reopening of the Traveler's Inn, a place she remembered from tales her father and mother told her about how a certain Maggy Malone who worked there had helped them when they were being sought by Thrax's cronies. She stopped to take a long look at it, reading it carefully. Spurring on her ethereal mount, she made her way toward Luna and the Inn. |

She smiled happily with her decision to reopen the Inn. And to her suprise she already had two rooms rented and to two very nice travelers at that. She laughed to herself thinking she should have done it sooner, and with the extra money she could buy Nico that special gift she had found in Luna. He was always bringing her things from his travels and she didn't want to ask him for any gold and then turn around and buy him a present with his own money.
With a nod to herself and a smile she locked up the tavern after seeing her guests comfortably fed and relaxing. She politely bid them goodnight.
She headed for home by the Luna moongate, then down through the woods in Minoc to Riverrun. She had hoped to see Nico's horse sitting outside or in the stables but no luck there. She went inside and got ready for bed. She slipped between the satiny smooth sheets of the beautiful bed he had brought her and layed her head on the soft pillows.
As she lay there her thoughts drifted to the days excitement and the reopening of the Inn.
Her thoughts wandered to the man dressed in the House Gauntlet uniform that came late in the evening bringing her second tennant. He was concerned about her safety and locking the doors and something about a woman. He never did say why he was so curious and concerned. He asked a few questions about her new tennant. Remembering the elven robe, she asked him if he knew Lady Molly. He said he did. She gave the man the robe and he said he would give it to the Lady Molly as soon as he saw her.
Earlier that day her new tennant had given it to her but she could not wear it. The girl said she could keep it and give it to someone who could wear it. She thought about who would look nice in it and suggested to the girl that she could give it to the Lady Molly, that it would look beautiful on her with her red hair. The young tennant agreed that it would look lovely on an elf such as her. They had talked for a while about Molly and then the girl retired and asked not to be disturbed until dinner. Maggy then went about her baking and thought no further of it. She thought she had heard some noise at one point but it was only the clicking sound of the claws of a rat skurrying over the front steps and out into the yard towards the Luna tower.
Her thoughts returned to the present and she thought to herself she would have to get a cat or two to keep them away from the Inn. _________________ Welcome to the Lodge, How can I help you?

Sitting atop a branch outside the home where Maggy slept, a figure draped head to toe in black silk hid behind a grouping of leaves. His soft hazel eyes peered between the cloth which enveloped his face, staring through an open window at the woman she almost had. He sighed slightly as he recalled the first night he saw her. He wished he could go back and act earlier, before that bastard of a man Nico stole her from him.
My love... why do you torment me so? Why must I look at you and be powerless? This pain.. a pain which penetrates deep into my heart, it is unbearable!
Looking around as to be sure that none were nearby, he skillfully jumped from the branch onto the roof of the home, being careful not to make any noise. He looked down at the window, and casually slipped through it, landing within the bedroom where Maggy slept. He slowly removed the silk which covered his face and head, and carefully crept closer to the bed. Looking down at Maggy, he felt that pain in his heart. The pain which would not dissapear, no matter how hard he tried. A tear of blood formed at his eye, which slowly slid down his cheek. Wiping it away, took the blankets which covered maggy and slid them up towards her head. Smiling slightly, he leaned down towards her, and gave her a soft kiss on her forehead.
There will be a time that you and I are together. I don't care if it takes the rest of our lives, the time shall come.
He placed his silk mask next to her, and another tear of blood began to form at his eye. He again wiped it away, and slowly crept towards the open window. Looking back one last time, he smiled slightly, and jumped out the window, out into the cold, dark night. |

While fighting the orcs outside of cove Nico took a short break in the combat to sit and catch his breath. With all the fighting he had been doing lately his senses seemed on edge trying to stay one step ahead of everything that was out to kill him.
He smelled something different in the air before he heard or saw anything. “Cookies?” he said out loud as he turned to look for the source of the smell. A young boy was running up the road to the orc fort with several hungry looking orcs fast on his trail. “There is no way I’m letting those dirty orcs get those cookies, I guess I should save the boy too” Nico thought as he got up and started riding up the road to help the boy.
When the two could sit and talk the boy said he was sent by Maggy and he presented the letter and the cookies. Nico smiled at the thought of Maggy in the house baking cookies and how good the house must smell while they cook.
Nico opened the letter first and read it while the boy waited looking around to make sure nothing else snuck up on them.
After reading the letter Nico opened the cookies and offered one to the boy, he declined saying he was full and that made Nico wonder how many trays Maggy really sent.
Not having anything to write on, the best Nico could do was send a message with the boy to give Maggy verbally. “Tell her I will be home soon, my work here is almost done, also tell her I miss her and don’t plan on making any trips again for a while.” “Most of all you have to pass on that I love her and hope that opening the Lodge again will help her pass the time till I do return.”
With that Nico reached into his bag and pulled out a small fortune in gold and handed it to the boy. His eyes went big as he tucked the gold into his own pouch and got ready to head off. “Make sure she gets that message” Nico yelled after the boy as he stepped off the road into the woods. “Oh she will sir” he replied, as he seemed to disappear without so much as a sound.
“Well, back to evening the score. Only a few more to kill to make up for past mistakes” and with that in mind Nico rode into the fort to find the next brute to be unlucky enough to cross his path. _________________ Nicodemus ALV |

She tossed the black silk mask into the corner as her eyes darted back and forth into the shadows of the early dawn. She shuddered at the thought that he had again been close enough to her to leave it. Tears formed in her eyes as she prayed that Nico would return soon and knew it made no difference where she was since Corzan had even found her in Riverrun.
She had made a commitment to open the Inn. She would have to stay strong and hope that the creature would not show himself to her again. She gathered her wits about her and dressed for the day. She was baking some biscuts to take with her to the Inn when she heard a knock. The early morning sun shown on the golden hair of the young boy who she had sent to find Nico. The boy could see she had been shaken by the look of fear as she peered through a crack in the door.
He said, "It's just me Miss. I bring you words from your man."
She opened the door to him with a smile to cover her fears and looked beyond him to be sure there was noone lurking about outside. She invited him in.
She said, "Eat first, then you can tell me." and fixed him some biscuts and honey which he ate ravenously. With crumbs still falling from his lips he told her his message for her from Nico. She smiled softly at him and gave him some milk to wash down the biscuts.
"You did well young one and here are some more coins to add to your collection." she said with a lilt in her voice. The boy took the coins and had to put them in his backpack because his pockets could hold no more gold. He thanked her and went to the door.
As he began to tug on the door, Maggy jumped up and helped him looking from the opening first to be sure there were no suprises on the other side. She opened it and let the boy leave thanking him again. He jingled as he walked. With so much coin in his pockets and has backpack, he sounded like a tinker's wagon. She chuckled at the though before closing the door and finishing her preparations to leave for the Inn. _________________ Welcome to the Lodge, How can I help you?
