A Letter to the Grand Commander of H*G

M'lord, I am an emissary from the Order of Sanctus. I am requesting a meeting with yourself and Lady Molly to further our relationship. Please advise as to when you would be available. My thanks to thee.

The pigeon arrives with the two notes. She opens them and reads them over. She takes out a piece of parchment. Taking the pen from the well on her desk she writes a response to both.

Dear Tahlzair,

Thank you for your assistance. I would like to meet with you before I respond to the note so that we can coordinate our schedules to meet her together. I will send her a note to that effect and will contact her later with a time.

Dear Mal,

I would be pleased to meet with you. If you will give me a day to meet with Tahl to set up a time that is good for both we will be in touch with you as soon as possible.

Sealing both letters with wax she calls a messenger. She gives him the letters and requests him deliver them to the two recipients. She tells him it will take a days journey and to stop in the kitchen to pick up some supplies. She smiles as he heads out of the room.

Mallory looked up as she heard the sound of horses outside of the hostel. Her eyes lit up as the messenger entered Hanses hostel and couldn't help but hope it was a letter from her beloved. She asked if she could help him and although it was not what she had hoped for, she was glad to see the letter from the duchess. She quickly offered the gentleman some refreshment from the larder and asked that he make himself comfortable in front of the fire. She looked at the letter and smiled. Certainly Lord Mordegan and Lord Gabriel would be pleased with the progress she had made with contacting the Grand Duchess. She knew that being an emissary was an important job and she took great pride in it. She took a piece of parchment and replied to the Duchess.



Molly,

I certainly understand and look forward to our meeting. I would also like your permission to attend the Royal Court meetings as an emissary of Sanctus. Please advise on the time of these meetings. I look forward to your reply. Until we meet, may you be protected and guided by the virtues.

She sealed the note and addressed it to Lady Molly. It had been some time since she had seen her friends and she was looking forward to their meeting. She gave the letter and a few gold coins to the messenger and showed him a room where he could rest before returning to his post. She then retired to her room to write a report for the Mayor Lord Gabriel regarding the latest developments.

The messenger arrived in the early evening with the message from Malory. He had not been able to find Tahlzair Tyr'rae at his home but left the message with his stable boy who promised he would see that his master received the message. She took the return message from him and read it.

Smiling, she told him he had done a fine job and handed him an aditional bag of gold. He grinned and stuffed the bag in his pocket. She said she would have a message ready for him to deliver in the morning but for him to make himself comfortable in the rooms on the third floor for the evening. She served him up a bowl of stew from the caldron over the fireplace, heated some mulled wine and some bread to warm his bones after the cool evening's journey. As he ate she penned the answer to Malory.

Melady Malory,

As always you are most welcome at the Royal Court meetings. If you are going to represent the city/state of Sanctus then all the better. We meet on Thursday nights at 9:30 pm by the eastern sky. This week I will be slightly late so most likely it will be 9:45pm before I arrive. Make yourself comfortable when you arrive and introduce yourself to Mia and Teflon if you do not already know them. Many faces will be fimiliar to you there if you have not been formally introduced. I look forward to our meeting and to your presence at the Royal Court.

She rolled the parchment and sealed it closed with wax and layed it next to the messenger on the table where he was eating. She said to take it at first light to Sanctus. He nodded and finished up his stew. She cut a piece of pumpkin pie and gave it to him. His young face gleamed as he saw the sweet delight. He was devowering it hungrily as she retired to the garden with a slice for herself and a cup of green tea.
