Orianna sat in her room, at the writing desk. Her gaze found itself looking upon the people passing. So much has happened, and yet she still felt as if she were that lost child, she was a few years ago. Every bit of security she ever felt, was torn away from her. First her fathers death...then her mothers submission to a man that had to be meaner than an elder dragon..then her sister's death by the man her mother had married..then Lady Sadira's death...Sadira, the first person that dared to show her any compassion after leaving her home....now the disbanning of the only guild she ever ventured to be part of. She had felt she was abandoned by all she became close too..once security was felt, it was destoryed. She sighed as she gazed upon an empty parchment before her. Her finger lightly trailed down along the edges.
"So Kay, should I put my trust in you...and if I do..will something happen that will cause the rug to be pulled from me once again."
There was a knock on the door as Orianna told them to enter. The scribe entered and nodded to her.
"I hear you are in need of aide."
Orianna nodded, as she rose from her chair. She then moved towards the foot of the bed and gestured to the chair.
"Yes, take a seat."
The scribe did so, as Orianna threw a pouch with some gold pieces in it.
"Now let us start."
The scribe nodded as he took the quill out. He then got it ready to begin to write. He then proceeded to write every word that she said:
************************************************************
Dear Kay,
I am writing to you to first say sorry. I am sorry that I have not written sooner. I have been quite busy with somethings. I wanted you to know that I enjoyed your company that day. I have never felt so close to someone, in such a short time. It was weird. I know that what happened between us was something special. I also know that most men like to sweet talk girls just to brag about their conquests later on. Though I do not feel that you are that type, I can and do fully understand if nothing more comes from it. I, however, wish to know you better. If nothing else to perhaps form a friendship. As I said, before, its as if you understand all that I had went through. I hope to hear from you soon. Perhaps once I am done, we can meet again for a dinner or something. I just also wanted to say thank you. It has been so long since I felt like a female, that I started to forget that is what I am. You helped remind me that there is more to me than meets the eye. Even if that eye is my own. Til either we meet again, or I hear from you...take care.
Sincerely,
Ori
*************************************************************
The scribe than proceeded to read the letter back. Orianna nodded to show she was pleased with the letter. She then called her messanger, which took the letter and headed off to deliever it. She then looked at the scribe and bowed her head slightly.
"Now, its time for my studies."
The scribe nodded, taking out a book. He then opened it up and began to go over it with her. _________________ "Nature gave man two ears but only one tongue. A gentle reminder that he should listen more than he speaks." |

I was sitting in my room in the Just Inn, when a letter arrived for me. It was from that lovely young lady I had met the other day, Orianna. I hoped the letter was news of her vile step-father's death. Reading it, I discovered it was not about his death, but a letter of friendship.
It seems as if she seeks reassurance.
I read the letter a second time, and a third time. Taking out my quill and ink, plus some vellum, I proceeded to pen her a return letter.
Dearest Lady Orianna,
I hope this letter finds you in high spirits, for it is what a lovely lady, such as yourself, deserves. I am very happy to receive a letter from you. I must confess, I am not in the habit of receiving letters... unless they are spiteful attempts to threaten me.. but I digress.
You know I wasn't out to sweet talk you, I save that for much older women. I hope you realize I am jesting! I am winking, but you cannot see it.
I enjoyed our time, as well. You seemed to me in need of a break from life. I know I sure did. I am happy that you had a good time. I want you to know that you are not alone in this wide world. I will always be there to lend my aid, should you ask it.
As far as feeling like a female.. I hope that you never forget you are one, ever again. Men everywhere would mourn your loss.
You know of my past, and past tragedies. At this time, I would only be comfortable being good friends with you, for your own safety, most of all. I say good friends, because aquaintances just isn't the right word to use. I hope that one day soon, I may treat you to dinner.
I will be out of town for a few days, so if you send me a letter and I do not respond timely enough, that is my reason. There is a dungeon I have just discovered, and I likely will be camped out in it, taking notes and sketches. Maybe i can bring a souvenir back for you.
Until next your face graces my presence,
Your friend, always,
Kay
I sealed the letter up with some red wax, and then I left it at the front desk, to be sent back with a messenger.
I am ready to fight that poor girl's step-father, the wretch. He misused her, badly. The kind of thing I just cannot stand by and let occurr.
As I pace in my room, thoughts in my head turn in circles. Befriending innocent Orianna... and then meeting the tempting Brianha. Both had their own troubles, it seemed. And I dwell on thoughts of Telia and her death. Thoughts of meeting Faith, face to face. Drow Witch that she is.
Maybe one day, I will finally be able to relax and settle down. Until then, it's one eye over my shoulder, looking for a drow blade, and one spell in my hand, ready to cast. |

Orianna walked into the Inn, and was about to head to her room when the front desk man stopped her.
"Miss, there is a letter for you."
Orianna raised a brow. A letter for her was not something she was use to. Noone ever wrote her. She nodded and took the letter.
"Thank you."
She says bowing her head slightly out of respect. She then went back outside and headed to the scribes home that had been helping her. She knockd on the door, and quickly went in as he opened it. She gave him the letter.
"What does it say? First..who is it from?"
The scribe opened it and first read the name. Orianna just smiled and seemed happy with the idea that he actually wrote back. She then gesturd for the man to go on and read it. The man read it a few times as she kept asking him to reread it.
"So then I have a new friend."
The thought seemed to please her completely. The man asked if she wanted him to write back. She just shook her head.
"Not right now. I have somethings I need to tend to. But perhaps later tonight or tomorrow."
The old man nodded as Orianna retrieved her letter.
"Thank you again."
She said before heading out the door. She went to the provisioners to gather some items. She was heading out to train. She wanted to either get rid of her step father or save her sister.
"So Kay, I was not so much the fool to entrust you. Thank you."
She says in a soft whispered tone, as she headed off to the woods. She needed peace, quiet and comfort.
"Take care of yourself Kay. I do not want to lose another one I care for."
She says looking up to the sky, as if wishing the breeze to carry her words to him. She then proceeded to practice her art. _________________ "Nature gave man two ears but only one tongue. A gentle reminder that he should listen more than he speaks." |

It was the oddest thing tonight, as I was standing on top of the hill, staring down at the cave. I could have sworn I felt a warm breeze blow around me. And yet, the night air had been still long before and after that odd breeze, which carried the hints of far-off places. Nothing like what I have come to expect near these Lurg caverns. |
