1 month later...

Danie had followed through Synful's command for awhile now, and through all the moblizing, arming, and training of the soldiers, she honestly believed that through Synful's command, they would win this battle. Side by side they approached, Synful, SilverFlame, and Danie, all under the dark ominious shadows that had fallen through the nightfall. Dusk was drawing to a close, and as the sun slowly sank behind the mountain range on the horizon, the stars and moon slowly appeared in the sky, twinkling and shining their path. If it had been any other night, it would have been quite a magical sight indeed...

...but this night was no night for stargazing.

As they moved down the path towards the castle, Danie couldn't help but worry for Synful. Here she was, independent and proud, confident through her support that she could finally finish the deed that she had sworn she'd do, and yet her lover was nowhere to be near. Danie secretely knew of this awhile ago. She knew that Dan had left his watch of Synful, knowing full well that he thought that Danie would prove a fine guard for her. She truly did not understand why he had such confidence in her to guard Synful, but whatever his reason, she knew it would have to do. A battle is merciless, and even she did not know if she was up to the challenge of guarding her soon to be sister-in-law...

...but then she looked upon Synful again at that thought, watching her proudly march with her army at her back. This was indeed a very personal trial to her, and Danie knew that if Synful did indeed not need the help of her lover, then it would be all the more the accomplishment on Synful's behalf! She grinned to Synful, and eyed SilverFlame as he noticed her grin.

"What hope you find in such times, is beyond me", he said coldly. Danie and SilverFlame had not talked much during the last month. She thought that he assumed she was an oddling indeed, with her green hair and personality. But who was he to judge, being one with silver hair and pointy ears?

"Hmph", she remarked, and that finished the topic. The time was near, the light was fading, and their test of what they had been training for was about to begin. Danie truly hoped that 3 weeks of training had made them ready for this, but then again, she truly didn't know how long these lads behind her had been preparing until she had met them.

Suddenly, Synful stopped, and peered off into the distance in front of her. Danie glanced to her as she halted, and then looked forward and tried to squint her eyes to see what she was seeing as well, finding no luck. Quickly, she attempted to prepare a "Night Sight" spell, but before she had found the page Synful and SilverFlame had raised their palms to her, obviously signaling her to stay quiet. She looked to them, and then out front, as only one word could explain their actions...

"Trouble"

---

Absolutely disgusting, the people that loitered about upon the grounds of the Zento Bank. Dan had been leaning against a pillar, watching them as they cursed to each other...

"Mercenaries, outlaws, criminals, all of them." he muttered to himself. "Here they are, wandering about Zento freely, and where were the guards that supposedly "own" this city to stop them? Hmmmm?" What seemed like the 12th time doing so, he scanned the surroundings outside the scene to see if anyone was going to stop this, and yet, none came. He would do something about it myself, but he was quite outnumbered by the villains which ran amok. Their talk was that of the realm of Felluca, which made them sound glutteral and vague. It was all disgusting, but the only thought that plagued his mind even more was the fact that when Synful was to return home, this is what she had to come to. The Tokuno Clans simply did not have the manpower to handle such villains and acts that seemed to be commonplace among the bank grounds, and there was nothing Dan could do about it.

"She is fighting for her own justice, and yet here I am without a thing I can do about this." He knew he could not call upon the Dark Warriors of Tokuno to help him this time, considering that all of this had nothing to do with Isamu whatsoever. What they should be doing, or at least what he thought, was to engage the tyrants who were claiming hold of the city and not doing anything about it. They merely wanted to claim this city as a matter of pride, as a title, but yet on the first sign of trouble do they ever show their care for it? No.

Again, he looked up at them and cringed as they fought amongst each other now, laughing vilely as another one of them was slain and ressurected for their enjoyment. Merely shaking his head, he pulled out his runebook and flipped to a page. Placing his hand upon it, he said his words "Sanctum Viatas", and was whisked away to the Hanses Hostel.

"Finally, some peace and quiet" , he thought to himself. Soon after, he entered the tavern and sat back into a chair, he plotted his feet onto the table. Leaning back in the chair, he closed his eyes and focused on his balance, while pondering more of his plans...

"Evil. Every place you look, it is swarmed by it. The good people of these worlds deserve more than this. They deserve a balance between the two, or at least some heroes that they can look up to. Not a hero whom resorts to violence to solve his problems, but a hero whom uses his intellect and wisdom to solve them. I have tried what I can with the Dark Warriors, and now is the time that I set my eyes on the bigger picture in front of me. Not only Tokuno, but the rest of the realms are in need of this. They need the beacon's call that has been blown out through the years. They need Sanctus. We need Sanctus. Synful needs Sanctus"

Dan opened his eyes, and smiled as he quickly pulled his arm from the back of his head to look upon his binding bracelet. Synful was awaiting in this bracelet, and he knew that he had to be ready for her call. He moved his other hand and patted his belt, having never removed his two weapons. He might be working towards a better future, but without her he had no future to work for. She was everything to him, and even now as she was on her travels, did he miss her so very much. He was doing this for her, by putting his last hopes in the fabled virtues of the realms.

This was his decision.

Synful heard the sounds of the trumpets being blared and quickly looked to Silver,"gather the men now!!!,"she yelled as she lowered her hood and looked to her future sister in law,"Danie leave now...please...if something happened to you i wouldn't be able to live with myself nor look your brother in the eyes again...,"she said as Danie shook her head and moved to stand at her side,"no i promised Dan....,"she said causing Syn to sigh softly then look down at the bracelet a moment before Silver's warcry sounded within her ears.

"Danie please...if anything happens to me....tell Dan that i will always love him and be at his side...,"she said as she lowered her gaze and closed her eyes,"even in death...,"she said as she turned and ran over to climb up onto her mount's back as Danie stood there a moment then moved over to start casting "In Lor" on the men without night sight.

Silverflame turned his head and looked out towards the approaching army and smirked,"the odds are in our favor your highness...it would seem your father's army isn't as mighty as he said....,"he said as he looked over to her from his mount who was prancing and snorting knowing what was about to happen.Hearing his words she pushed the hood of her cloak down and smirked,"which means my father isn't as guarded as he usually is...,"she said as she kicked her stallion and turned him towards the woods.

"Keep them at bay Silver...its time my father saw his "cowardly" daughter..,"she said as Silver unsheathed his sword and nodded,"as you wish your highness....,"he said as Syn looked over towards Danie a moment before riding to her,"i have one thing to ask of you...,"Syn said as Danie nodded her head,"my brother and yourself have confidence in me...why is beyond me but what is this you wish for me to do?,"she asked as Syn smiled,"watch over Annawen and her child...,"she said as she rode off into the darkness.

-------

Annawen sat in the huge tent that held her sister Synful and looked around, ever since they had busted in and rescued her a few nights before she had felt a great bit of relief.Hearing a soft cry she turned her head and looked down at her daughter,"hush little one....this will be over soon and then we will be free forever...,"she said as she lifted the infant up and craddled her, trying ignore the sounds of battle not but a couple of miles away.

-------

Sliding off her mount she removed her cloak and laid it upon the beast's back lightly,"stay Crisco..,"she said as the stallion snorted but stayed where he was told.Reaching down she unsheathed her poison dagger and moved over towards one of the guards that had been placed near the tower entrance.Slipping up behind him she quickly slit his throat then pulled his limp body into the bushes,"one down several more to go...,"she said as she moved into the tower and headed up towards the door that led onto the walkway.

As she held the energies within her grasp, Danie released what she could muster upon the charging soldiers, though they were only simple spells to reserve her mana. During this, SilverFlame was on foot, swatting down his enemies in on the battlefield. Their soldiers were doing well as they were, and the battle did indeed seem to be at their advantage due to the low visibility of the night. For those who could see the ground below their feet, it was nothing but the corpses...

...and in seeing ths, it was almost too much for Danie to bear. She hated violence, hated it with ever fiber of her being, and yet here they were resorting the simple resolve of opposing opinions. Was this really what she wanted to become? Another mage in the fray of battle as men were to slaughter each other blindly for their master? As she launched her spells out, tears began to trinkle off of her eyes. Slowly she fell to one knee, and then fell as the trauma became too great for her to handle.

"Danie!" shouted SilverFlame. Quickly he fought through the ranks and reached to her side. Seeing that she had merely fainted, he sighed in relief and gave a whistled to his horse. The steed managed to trace the whistle, and found him in but a moment. He then put Danie upon his steed, and muttered in its ear "To camp, my friend". With that, gave the horse a light tug and it went on its way. For whatever reason she couldn't handle such an easy fight was beyond him, but SilverFlame knew that now was not the time to ponder such reasons.

"Fight on men! For Synful!"

Annawen heard the familiar snort of her lover's steed and stood up,"Silver..?,"she called out as she unsheathed her small dagger and slipped to the entrance of the tent, pushing the flap back she peered out and went pale as she saw a rider slumped over the steed's back,"SILVER!!!,"she cried out as she ran over then breathed a small sigh of relief seeing it wasn't her beloved.

"I need help over here!!!,"she said as she resheathed her dagger then reached up to pull the woman she knew as Danie from the back of the mount. "Is she dead Lady Annawen?,"one of the men asked as he stepped up beside the young woman,"no but take her into my tent...I'll tend to her...,"she said as the man nodded his head.Watching him carry Danie into the tent she would now share with Silver she looked back to his mount knowing that he only listened to one other person,"go to him...,"she said as the young gelding snorted then reared up and headed back to his master.

---------

Syn moved silently through the night weaving her way around the few guards who remained behind,"pathetic...,"she whispered softly as she slit another one's throat unaware her father was awaiting her entrance in his throne room.Pushing the hood of her cloak back abit she watched more guards run from the room,"its time...,"she whispered softly as she slipped back into the shadows and made her way to the double doors.

After removing her cloak she looked down to the binding bracelet and knew that Dan wasn't far away if she needed him.Taking a deep breathe she kicked open the door and stepped inside,"I'm home Father...."

"I see that young one....and my how you have grown...,"he sneered as the the candles in the room lite up causing Syn to tense up even more as her emerald green eyes fell on her father,"I have grown father....in more ways than you can imagine...,"she said as she unsheathed her sword and glared at him.

"Do you honestly think you can harm me child?,"he said as he began to chant causing Syn to look down as she was lifted off the ground then slammed into a nearby wall but not before grasping the binding bracelet,"DAN!!!!,"she called out before sliding down the wall in a heap unaware that her father was moving to stand over her smirking.

"Mine at last....,"he sneered unaware himself that Syn had come prepared incase her father proved to be more than she could handle.

As he walked down the tranquil paths of Sanctus, Dan began to feel something odd about him. It was if there was something growing warm on his wrist, something that was beginning to heat up as if he was being urged. Looking down to his hand, he could sense of the source of this, and suddenly gasped as he realized what had been happening.

"Synful! She needs me!"

Without a second thought, Dan held his arm up above him and clutched his with his spare hand. The energies from the bracelet began to pour into him, throughout his being. A sudden force blew over his clothes, practically tearing them off by the sheer force as all that remained was his signature black skirt and new shadow armor upon his body. The golden energy from the bracelet eventually enveloped his entire body, and within seconds a bright explosion of golden light surrounded him as he felt himself moving, though having hadn't moved.

---

As Synful's accursed father approached her, her bracelet began to glow as well, just as Dan's did. It glew brighter, and brighter, piercing the darkness around them as Synful's father slowed his approach upon her.

"What in the hell..." he muttered, amazed at what he saw. A bright golden globe of light surrounded Synful's body, and expanded out into the entire room. The man could only cover his eyes as the bright light, and feel the odd warmth of it all. Slowly, though surely enough, while the light began to fade, a figure was standing over his accursed daughter. The figure kneeled down, and layed his hand on her shoulder, then looked up at him. The man could hear the screeching unsheath of a blade, as the figure slowly approached him. It was too dark to even see his features, and all he could see what the faint outline of a man with a blood red kryss...

"Away with you!" he shouted at the stranger!

The man quickly waved his arm and launched a bolt of energy at the stranger, only to witness as he passively dodged the blast and let it fly off and crash into a statue. Again, the stranger pressed forward. The man could not take any chances with this one, seeing how easily he had dodged his blast, and with a bit more focus, clutched his palms together and thrusted them upward above him. Below the stranger, a large pillar of flame began to shoot up upon him, and would've almost engulfed him if he hadn't had aimed so poorly this time. The man began to laugh as the flamed dances up where the stranger was supposedly standing, but then gasped as nothing remained from where the flames trickled down.

He quickly looked around, searching to see where he had slipped off to. "You cannot hide from me, coward!" he shouted, having his voice echo through his chamber. "This is MY castle, and in my castle I shall never fall!"

---

Dan couldn't help but chuckle at the old man from his hiding place. How easy was he going to make this, making his location so obvious with his noise? If he wanted to, he could have engaged him head on before he could have ever said a word, but Dan truly did want this father of Synful's to learn to fear him this eve. He dearly wanted this man to know how outmatched he was, and even if he had such sorcery behind those aged hands of his, he wished the best of luck to him for trying to hit his mark.

The man looked around him once more, and became enraged by it all. "You will not make a fool of me!" he screamed abruptly!, and quickly bent back to channel his energies for another spell, a bigger spell. As he held up his hands, the man's power began to flow to his arms, and when it finished he reared his palms back to prepare to slam them on the ground.

"He's summoning an earthquake? The fool will kill all of us!" Quickly, Dan leaped from his hiding place and sprinted towards the mage. Holding out his kryss for a quickly sidelong slash, he focused his eyes and prepared for the blow...

"...AH HA! There you are!"

The mage quickly turned towards Dan's direction, holding out his palms to launch his attack...

Syn groaned softly unaware that Dan was there now protecting her from her father, whose power she had badly misjudged. She could hear the noises going on around her as she began to regain her senses,"Dan..,"she whispered as she slowly began to push herself up some, her hand moving to rub her neck and the back of her head.

"Dan!!!,"she cried out as she finally managed to get to her feet and look to him as her father prepared his spell, her hands moving to grab her crossbow that was still strapped to her thigh.Unhooking the bow she quickly hooked in a bolt and took aim unaware that one of her father's lovers was hiding in the shadows ready to aid him in everything he does.

"Love move!!!,"she screamed as she reached out with her free hand and shoved him to the side as she released the bolt, hoping to at least stop her father from completing the spell and killing all of them.As the bolt hit its mark she smirked and looked to her lover then looked to her father again as he sneered in pain and stumbled back,"this isn't over...,"he said as he once again used his magic to slam Syn into the wall again this time knocking her out instantly.
