Claudette sat at her writing desk thinking about some business she had to tend to. She had been letting her heart take over her thoughts and needed to focus on the upcoming quest to help her cousin regain her memory. She forced herself to look down at the parchment in front of her and began writing one of the two letters she needed to have delivered.

Dear Mallory,

I hope that upon its arrival this letter finds you well. It was good to see you at Brianha’s birthday party. I only wish it had ended differently. I am writing in regards to my cousin. As you know, Drayden has found a crystal ball that may be able to help Brianha. We will be going on a quest to find this coveted item next Thursday and we need your help. I have also written a letter to Smiticles asking him to accompany us and I do hope both of you can come and help. We will need all the manpower we can get to fight the drakes and dragons. I only hope we will be successful and finally get some answers. We will be meeting at the Freehold next Thursday eve at around 9:15pm. I look forward to seeing you then.

Your friend,

Claudette

Claudette read the letter over, sealed it with some wax and set it aside. On another piece of parchment she wrote a letter to Smiticles.

Dear Smiticles,

How have you been? The wait is over. We will be going on a quest to find this crystal ball Drayden knows of next Thursday. Finally we will all be able to stop feeling so useless and actually help Brianha. Or at least that is what I hope. I have asked Mallory to join us and I hope the others will join us as well. It will be a dangerous mission but one that needs to be done effectively. We will be meeting at the Freehold on Thursday at 9:15pm. Stop by my house sometime and let me know if you will be joining us.

Your friend,

Claudette

Satisfied, Claudette sealed her second letter and allowed it to dry. She walked over to Smiticles’ house and laid the letter on his front step. Gathering up some supplies, she headed into Vesper to look for a messenger to deliver her other letter.

Mallory looked up from her reading as there was a knock on her door. It was not often that she took time for such luxuries as this, but with the rain, today seemed like a good day to sit in front of a fire with a favorite book. She climbed to her feet from her comfy spot among the pillows and made her way to the door. Her heart jumped for joy when she saw a messenger from Vesper, think she had recieved a note from her love, but when she saw the writing on the front she sighed softly. She thanked the messenger and gave him a few gold coins before returning to her study.

She opened the letter and began reading it. She sighed in relief knowing that there was something they were going to do for Brianha, but the mention of Smiticles brought a tear to her eye. Why had she not heard from him? She had hoped to have heard from him, and not seeing him at the party made her worry. It was time to forget the advice of being a proper lady and write to him, but first she must answer the letter from Claudette and assure her that she would indeed be amongst them on Thursday. She pulled a piece of parchment and began writing..

Dear Claudette,

It is good to hear from you my friend. I am doing well, I thank thee for asking. I will most definately assist in this quest you speak of. I certainly hope that this is the cure that we all seek for Brianha.

In Virtue and friendship,
Mallory

She pulled out a second piece of parchment and wrote to Smiticles...

My dearest Smiticles,

I hope that this letter finds you well. Many days have passed since last we saw one another. I have advised Claudette that I will indeed be assisting in the quest for the cure for Brianha. I hope to see you soon.

My hand longs for the comfort of yours.

With love,
Mallory

Mallory folded up the last letter and wrote Smiticles' name on the front and sealed it with wax. She made her way to the door with both letters and noticed the rain had slowed to a drizzle. She reached for her cloak and decided she wouldn't stay here for the day after all. Perhaps she would go and visit with Hugh and Heather at the Freehold and make some cookies for young masters Auris and Athlon....
