|
Exhausted from the night's events, Claudette left the Garden and the company of her guild mates. Max, their guild master had left the guild and the reality of it had not yet settled with Claudette. She knew that his involvement with Ceinwyn would mean trouble, and yet she never thought it would go that far. She shook her head and thought, That woman is ruining everything, first Brianha, now Max.. Who will be next??
Her thoughts turned to Drayden and her lips turned upwards for a few moments. She missed him and needed his company now more than ever. Although she was putting on a brave face for her cousin and the rest of her friends, she was scared and overwhelmed with all the events happening around her. She knew that she could let her defenses down with Drayden and that he would comfort her. He also needed to be briefed on all that had transpired over the last few days. She knew that he was deep in study trying to figure out all he could about the human mind and memory loss. How she loved the fact that he was doing everything he could to help.
She decided it was time Drayden took a break from his work and so she sat down to write him a letter.
My Dearest Drayden,
How I’ve missed you! A lot has happened while you’ve been busy studying. The Adventurer’s League of Vesper no longer has a leader and this of course has been very upsetting to the rest of the guild. It is, as you know, not the greatest timing given the situation with my cousin but perhaps it will be for the best in the long run. I trust you and need you here for me now. There are many things I need to tell you.
Could you take a break from your work and come have dinner with me? It would do us both good to relax a bit and enjoy the time together. I cannot wait to feel your arms wrapped around me, for when you do, it is the safest place I’ve ever known.
I will anxiously wait for your reply and until then, hope you are well and that you’ll have good news to report on your studies.
With much affection,
Claudette
Claudette sealed the letter and kissed the envelope before writing the words Drayden Grimoire on it. She opened the pigeon cage and placed the letter in the small case the bird carried. After giving it some seeds, she whispered "safe journey my friend" and sent it on its way. _________________
