Mallory finished with her daily studies within the Moonglow Lycaeum and her mind returned to her new friends Brianha, Claudette, and to the gentleman Smiticles. As of late, it was often that this gentleman had found his way into her thoughts. She had worried that she had appeared like one of the brainless floozies that often frequented the Garden. She thought about the way his voice was strong and even with the hint of anger behind it, it was still comforting, knowing he cared so much for his friends. She wouldn't be surprised if he thought nothing of her after that night. Surely he had more important matters, especially with his guildmate and friend being injured. Why did that even matter?! Yes he was a wonderful person to talk to and sure the way he looked at her made her heart... She shook her head at her thoughts, laughing slightly. Surely the heat must be affecting her brain.
As she was putting things away she decided to write a letter to her new friend Claudette and hopefully find out good news about Brianha, or see if she could be of any help. She pulled a piece of parchment from a pack she had nearby and began writing...
To Lady Claudette of the Adventurer's of Vesper,
Greetings my new friend. I hope that this letter finds you and yours all well and in good spirits. I write with the hopes of finding our mutual friend Lady Frasier doing well. I truely pray to the Virtues that there has been a recovery. I again extend my hand in friendship and offer my aid if needed.
Yours in friendship and Virtue,
Mallory Rowdep
After allowing the ink to dry she fastened it with a bit of sealing wax and sent it with the Legion messenger to Sir Max of Vesper, with the hopes he would pass along the message to Miss Claudette. She gave him a few coins and thanked him and returned to her thoughts. _________________ Good friends are like stars. You don't always see them but you always know they are there...

Seeing the familiar Legion messenger approach, Max thought back to the time when there was more official correspondence between their two guilds, and how times had changed.
Greeting the man, Max offered him some rest and refreshment while he checked to see if the message required a reply.
Moving upstairs to his writing table, Max's first thoughts on reading the letter were of Brianha and how good it was for her that she had so many caring friends who were concerned for her well being.
His thoughts quickly turned to surprise though, when he realized once again who the messenger downstairs represented. Back downstairs, Max greeted the man with a smile and asked if he had enough refreshment. Recieving a nod, as the messenger's mouth was full, Max set about asking a couple of easy questions.
"Do you still deliver messenges for the Legion of Justice, friend?", he asked curiously. The answer was another nod.
"And has the Lady Mallory joined the Legion?", Max inquired. Another nod from the messenger.
"Please, continue to fill your belly," Max instructed him, "I will return momentarily with a response for the Lady Mallory."
Back upstairs at his writing table Max fumed.
What games does Vaen play with Brianha? Why is the woman he WAS to marry now in the Legion?"
Settling himself, he writes the following to Lady Mallory:
Dear Lady Mallory,
I truly appreciate your concern for Brianha. We are all hoping she can regain her memory in short order, and with friends such as yourself supporting her, I am sure she will be just fine in time.
I am more than happy to forward your letter to Claudette, and I am sure you will hear from her once she recieves it.
Thank you again for your concern,
Max van Pelt
Sealing the letter, Max delivers it into the hands of the gastrally satisfied messenger, and instructs him to take it to Lady Mallory. With a friendly pat on the his shoulder, he departs headed presumably for Legion Island.
Sitting in the nearest chair, Max starts to clear some of the thougts in his head.
"How is it that Claudette can suspect Ceinwyn of wrongdoing in Brianha's memory loss, when Mallory would be my first suspect?"he asks himself. Well, no matter. It was a simple fall on the ice. I really have no idea why anyone would think otherwise. Ceinwyn has always treated Brianha as a friend!"
Shrugging as he stands, Max walks over to Claudette's door and lays the letter on the step. _________________ -Max of Vesper, Super Pally Perma NoOb. |

Upon her arrival from another evening at the Garden, Claudette was surprised to see a letter sitting on her front step. She picked it up, went upstairs to her garden and sat down to read it. She smiled pleasantly when she discovered it was a letter from Mallory inquiring about Brianha. It was good to know that she cared and valued them as new friends.
Her thoughts then turned to the comments Max had made to her at a recent guild meeting. He had accused her of suspecting Ceinwyn had something to do with Brianha's accident and wondered why it was that she wasn't worried about Mallory. He listed several reasons why he would think of Mallory before Ceinwyn and she wondered if she should value his opinion. She had a certain feeling about Ceinwyn that just didn't sit right with her and she had always trusted her instincts. She decided she would be cautious around Mallory since she didn't know the woman very well. Max, in her opinion, seemed to be changing as a result of his friendship with Ceinwyn and was extremely defensive when it came to her. Claudette feared for what this would do to her friendship with Max and for what it would eventually mean for the guild.
Sighing, she sat down to write a response to the letter.
Dear Lady Mallory,
It gave me great pleasure to see your letter sitting on my front step. I hope that you are well and that I may see you again soon. Sadly I have no good news to report on Brianha's condition. She appears the same despite every effort to reverse the memory loss. Even a trip to her parent's house did not help. I do not know what more I can do to help her but I am exploring every option. You are very kind to offer your help and should I need it I will be sure to let you know.
Sincerely,
Claudette
Claudette sealed the letter and set it on her writing desk. In the morning she would give it to Bart the gypsy and ask him to deliver it. _________________
