It was late. Drayden had already come to that conclusion when he looked out the window of the ancient build which he sat within. The sun's first rays had started to peak over the horizon. Or early. He had lost track of time sitting her at this massive table with old smelly tomes piled up all about him. The half drow looked tired. There we're dark circles around his eyes, he hadn't slept in a few days.
The elf dipped his quill in the ink well and continued writing, confusion setting in. This Gargish was confusing, it said one thing and then contradicted it in the same sentence. Had it really been that long since he had read it?
The text told him of a crystal ball one that was used by the arch mage Beldstahl. This crystal ball was used as both a scrying device and a means of divining the past. Drayden raised an eyebrow and carefully turned the ancient page. The where abouts of this relic were lost after Beldstahl summoned a demon for reasons unknown. The demon who was summoned would not be bound by simple magics and slayed Beldstahl, taking the relic for himself and retreating to the Isle of Fire.
Drayden turned the page and frowned. The rest of the pages were illegible. He continued looking through the text and realized that the final third of the book had somehow been erased. He poured another cup of tea and leaned back in his chair, his mind working already. "I must tell the others of this...".Hastily, he took the parchment that he had been writing on and murmured the words "Kal Ort Por" leaving his still steaming cup of tea sitting on the table. |

He had gone to the Freehold that day, looking for Vaen and Claudette, hoping to share his findings with them. Someone had to be told of what he had found. Vaen seemed very interested in the story of Beldstahl and he had offered his assistance in further looking into this story. Drayden was quite greatful for the relief, his head was begining to hurt from reading so much and his body begged for rest.
Spending most of the evening there had drained him even more and by the time it was only him and Claudette he was on the verge of collapse. Three days without sleep was too much.
Drayden retired to his home by the water. Taking a small break to sit on his balcony and smoke some of his favorite pipe tobacco before sleeping better than he had in a long time. |
