Ten days without food or water.

Ten days trying to realize why the hell I'm still alive. Ten days to contemplate the existance of life, ten days of mental torment... where the hell are they!?

The loud creak of wrought-iron jolted him awake. He had been suspended in a state between conciousness and coma for ten days. He looked down at his nearly lifeless body, which had slowly withered and weakened due to the lack of nourishment. The only things that hadn't changed were his inhuman left arm and leg.

He slowly stood to face the man who had just walked in front of his jail cell. The man standing there seemed slightly surprised. Steel recognized him immediately as Sethos, one of the men responsible for imprisoning him. "You're not dead yet?" the man asked. Steel slowly shook his head. "I figured you'd have starved by now. But regardless... I suppose you want out now?"

Steel looked at him coldly. "If I wanted out, I'd be out by now." Sethos looked at him dubiously. With a slight grin, Steel walked up to the door, eyed the broken lock, and gripped it with his left arm. With one great heave, he tore the iron gate from its hinges.

"Impressive," Sethos said. "Why didn't you do that before?"
Steel raised an eyebrow. "I've been half dead and unable to move for the past ten days. You tell me." Sethos smirked. "I suppose no one will care if I walk out, no?"
"I wouldn't care, if that's what you're asking." Sethos stepped aside. "What now, then? You'll go home, where people didn't realize you were gone? Where those you called friends have forgotten you?"

Steel sighed. "I have been wondering the same... but it doesn't matter. Why would it matter? I've lived out my life in pursuit of virtue and purity... but what for? It's all for nothing... because in the end, they will be forsaken, just as I have been." He eyed the necklace in despise and disgust. "It didn't take long to realize that those I called my allies -- those I called my friends -- were not going to do anything. And why?" He closed his eyes. "Why would they do this to me?"

He dropped the pendant on the floor. Sethos watched in amusement as he realized that the man before him was beginning to lose his mind. He spoke his answer coldly and slowly. "Because they don't care. Because they know that you will die, and they will not lift a finger, they will not waste their time on something they think is pointless."

Steel turned around and glared at Sethos. His expression softened, however, in realization. They will not waste their time... The thought echoed in his mind. He closed his eyes again, and only spoke once. "Burn it."

A slight grin crossed Sethos's face. A couple of words of magic later, the medallion on the floor went up in flames. Steel kicked the ash and dust across the floor as he wondered why he had wasted nearly thirty years of his life in pursuit of false purity and dead virtue.

As he began to walk out of the Ebon Spire, Sethos called after him. "What are you going to do, then?"

Steel grinned, running his finger along the edge of a curved black blade. "I'm going to pay a visit to those who forgot about me. I'm going to let them know that I'm still here... in whatever way crosses my imagination."

This angry one at Zento Bank.... He lashes out at major authority figures.... He has been betrayed by those whom he once trusted.... It will be so easy to plant a seed in his mind.... A seed of thought that will quickly grow into larger thoughts. He is not without strength, or skill in battle. A bit hot-headed, but then, aren't I? Xas, I shall do this... I know he has spoken to Cear already, the way is paved...

She walks to the bank casually, as if she doesn't know his scent. They end up talking, of things his anger betrays his thoughts.

He recognizes me, she thinks to herself. I will keep that in mind... That is important information.

She strolls to where Tai Kwan Leap and his female are. There is the usual gang of groupies with them.

She plays her part well, pretending she did not recognize Steel, though she did indeed know his scent. They had run into each other in Britain before. Oh yes, Steel, I remember you. To be honest, not much more than the time in Britain. But that was enough. He had been one of them back then, a "Lightie".

His anger is still so fresh upon his mind, I can practically feel it radiating from him. Ahhh it is time to turn his thoughts to wisps..

He speaks of Serving. Of how he never will again, there is no point. She suggests serving oneself. This, too, does not catch his attention. So she tries a larger hook with larger bait.

"There is Power to wreak your vengeance. Join the Cabal and serve yourself... You will see, you will learn. There is much knowledge to be had..." She left the unnecessary unspoken.

"Vengeance?" He seemed excited at that idea.

Excellent. He is interested.

She had his attention, now. She could see the fire in his eyes, practically hear the gears grinding as he considered the possibilities.

"Care to come with me?" she asked, innocently enough. At his nod, she opened a gate to BlackRock. A better place to hear of The Cabal, rather than bickering with the lessers, here in Zento.

Steel stepped into the ominous red gate, whilst she remained behind to close it off.
