It seemed that time had stood still. The sky became a crimson color as the sun became enveloped by the awaiting sea below it. Since his return, Rufus had become very fond of the sunset. It calmed his nerves to see the hostile tempeture come to an end so easily. It was gentle on the eyes, the transition from day to night. In the past weeks, things had moved faster than anything Rufus had experienced. His return from near death, the association and conversations with Vaen Swiftar, and now, to solidify the relationship between Tai Kwan Leap, as well as Isk. But still those past moments lingered in Rufus's head...
Vaen had become somewhat of a savior to him. He interjected in Rufus's grandest time of confusion. A time where the end was truely near. All to nurse him to health, to see his friend stand tall again. But it was so unsetteling; just know that mayhaps him and a new found brother may collide on the ascension to a complete Nujel'm. But the lands sultan stood proud. Only death would seperate him from the Queen of Nujel'm. But the friends had accepted their fate, and Rufus waited for their next intereaction...
His meditation upon the lowering sun continued. Calm winds brushed the marking on his face while a slight pain shot through his belly. Rufus had many reminders of mistakes and various experiences. But the wound upon his belly was his greatest experience. He lowered his head for a moment, rubbing his stomach lightly. "What drove me to do such a thing..." A man of spirituality, one who was sure that he was most in tune with himself, his knowledge and acceptance of all things was unrivaled in his eyes. But still his attempt on his own life bothered him constantly. And it would be a secret only between himself and those that dwell in the aethers. Rufus raised his head, looking to the darkened sky, "It seems I have lost my way. There are many days I go without a prayer, or a thought of my creation. Nor have I professed the wills of Sisthnos to the land as I once did. Balance was what kept me grounded. I have lost my way indeed."
The relationships between Nujel'm and Zento as well as Magincia would prove to be a grand growth in the Island Nations; the possibilities, Trade, interaction...the chance for the groups to grow and interact. How grand it would be. Though Rufus pondered how his wife would respond to it all. For in these times Sarah had been more worried of his well-being than any being he knew. And he loved her without question.
Shifts in the worlds about him had gave Rufus uneasy feelings. Encounteres with people from his past encounters wandered about his dreams. Alarin more than any. It seemed that the tattoo of the ouroboros had grown a bit larger...So many signs. He hoped to continue his practice and understanding of spiritmancy while he existed in this new life. Perhaps a trip to Umbra when the sun lowers entirely, but first, to see his wife... _________________ "Balance - the harmony between the Principles of Order and Chaos...Harmony, Dedication and Rationality, the three Principles of Balance, are our highest ideals." |
