At the healers in britan, the bodies of the dead were being carted off and buried enmass. The Grandmaster healer hung many dried flowers but it still did little to stop the smell of blood, sweat and decaying flesh. Most of those who could be saved were tended to. Those that couldn't were read their last rights and told by many how much of a hero they were.

Upon his awakening, he noticed flowers by his bedside. Also present were some letters that were addressed to him. He looks down to his wound and realizes there is a fresh bandage. Even more so, by his bedside, were some items that he noticed yesterday among the crowd. The most notable item though was the shield of one of his Knights. On the card that rested on the flowers were writen three words. "We are Sorry."

He looked up to the healer with a puzzled look and the healer spoke to him. "Many came in here while you slept, laying down the items of your Knights. An older gentleman brought in the flowers and some have even writen you letters. Though one was a messenger and he didn't seem all to happy. He handed me this letter to give to you once you woke up."

Kotare took the letter into his hand and noticed it was from William. Without even bothering to read it, he handed it back knowing who it was from. "burn it. I'll not accept anymore visitors unless they are from Magincia or Yew." Kotare replied laying his head back down on the make shift pilow. He knew he was one of the lucky ones who had survived. Soon, he would be well enough to stand on his own. When he does, he will head home, never again getting involved in another's war.

* a message sent to Duke Kotare *

Your Grace,

Word has reached me that you have suffered injury and are now in recovery.
I humbly apologize for not being by your side during the battle in Britain.
I had received a message from the gypsys in Ilshenar concerning my children and left in a hurry.
I am on my way back to Yew now and would like permission to see you at your leisure. Please leave a message with your servants and I will ride straight to you when I arrive.

Yours in Service
Genna

*the letter seems to be akwardly written as if much effort was being applied in the writing*

Lady Genna,

Fear not dear lady, I went only with a handful of knights. It was my intention to help bring the wounded to the healers and help defend the citiy in its darkest hour. Your duty to your children are a priority over me. I do not blame you for your decision. It was a wise one. I am recovering much to the delight of those around me. Many here cling to hope But, sadly, we wonder what will become of the city now that all is won. Many of us suffer from fever and other illnesses due to our injuries. When I first came in, there were wounded and dying laying everywhere. Now there are only a few of us who have survived. I was lucky, the spear of a Lizardman scout caught me on my left side from behind as I was aiding the defenders of Britan. Though my oponent was quickly dispatched, I had continued to fight on long enough to see the invaders retreat to the sound of a horn. My last spells took down a Titan and then I remmber falling from my horse. Utterly spent, I somehow managed to crawl to a building, which lay in ruin from the long seige. It was there I was noticed and brought here to the Britan healers. I am told that the Spear had missed my lung by only inches. Though I still bled heavily, the healers had managed to control the bleeding. The slightest movements of my torso triggers the bleeding again as well as bring about a sharp pain. But now, the wound is mended with stitchings and soon, I'll be comming home. Please send word to my darling wife that I am alive and I have every intention of comming home soon.

Lord Kotare
Duke of BlackWind

P.S. We are victorious, I just didn't realize the price of our victory.

Genna rode to the house of the Duke and Duchess. Dismounting she walked as quickly as her tired body would carry her. Having rode most of the night she was disheveled to say the least but in to much of a hurry to correct her appearance.

Upon entering the massive front entrance a servant rushed to greet her and asked news of the battle. Genna told the servant she had just returned from a long journey and not been witness nor participant in the battle. Genna reached into her cloak linning and brought forth a scrolled message , asking the servant to deliver it as quickly as possible to the Duchess of Blackwind.

Message:

Duchess Blackwind,

Your husband the Duke has been injured and now lays within the healers residence in Britain. I ride forth to see to his safety. I will await instructions as to whether you will travel to him with my escort or he will travel home also with escort.
If you have need of me Milady do not hesitate to send word.
