Ragnar and Molly had not heard from Martin in regards to how to handle their delicate situation. Niether of them had dared to confirm their vows until such time as they could speak to him, but he had never contacted them. She finally decided she did not want to wait any longer to speak of her love and commitment to him. They still could speak to Martin but it was time to move forward.
She had planned this evening for some time but with their busy schedules it was hard for the both of them to find time to be together. She had told him that afternoon that she had a surprise for him. He met her at the guild house and she asked him to wait downstairs.
She went to the bedroom and gathered the things she had kept from their past and something special she had planned to give him years ago just before he left. She brought the top tear of the cake that was from their first annaversary. He had promised to come back for her and Ethan. Even he could not explain what had happened and why he did not return. That was all in the past now though she thought as she continued to gather the other items.
She dressed quickly in a white skirt removing most of her armor and the black cloak he had given her the night in Rivendell when he first joined the Britannian War Council so many years ago. She smiled and stroked it remembering the look on his face as she let him place it on her shoulders. She placed the hat she wore the night he proposed at the picnic near the waterfalls in Yew. It matched the blanket that she and he had used over and over again every time they picniced. Each time he would take a small piece of it to remember the moment. It was becoming smaller and smaller though she did not mind. It just ment they had to sit closer together so they could sit on the blanket. She chuckled at that thought.
She stepped on the teleporter and he was standing there looking at the books in the shelf. She smiled at him and said for him to wait there and she would send him a gate.
She cast a spell and was teleported to the location she had chosen in her mind for their evening alone. When she arrived she walked down the stairs to the beach and set out the blanket and placed the cake on the blanket. She then put the lanterns down and lit them. She smiled at her handy work and checked her back pack to make sure she had not forgotten anything. She nodded to herself and took out a piece of paper, wrote a short note telling him to look for a gate.
She gave the dove a chance to arrive and then cast a gate for him. As she stepped through his smile was so broad she thought his face would crack. He said in a soft voice 'a picnic'. She nodded and smiled lovinly at him. He kissed her and she returned the kiss. He took a seat on the blanket and she joined him there.
They exchanged glances and words as the waves lapped the shore. She spoke of the cake and what it ment and then handed him her surprise. As he looked at it he lifted it to his nose and breathed in deeply smelling the rose. She told him as he did that she had saved it for him for many years knowing that he held her heart and he should also have her rose.
She handed him the golden box that she had saved and brought with her this night. It held their wedding rings and she told him that he should hold them until he was sure that he wanted her to be his wife again. She smiled at him and he nodded to her. He carefully opened the box and held both rings in his hand. He took her hand in his and slipped the ring on her finger. She took his ring from his hand and slipped it over his finger smiling. Her eyes filled with tears as she did. He gently wiped away her tears and kissed her as they sat and leaned against each other watching the water and glancing into eachothers eyes. The hours passed as they sat speaking of their love and feelings.
He looked into her eyes and kissed her again. She smiled into his eyes and he whispered to her that the evening would be complete were they to go home and watch the stars together from their room. She gathered the blanket but not before he tore another square of it to keep to remember the moment. She smiled as he cast a gate and they stepped through. _________________ Grand Duchess Molly Kaldhel

The next day Ragnar awoke and walked about Gauntlet Isle in the crisp air, thinking and smiling. Funny this ring fit so well upon his finger he thought, funny how this uniform fit so well upon his shoulders, funny this life fit so well into his heart. He smiled again breathing in the morning air, it all felt natural he decided, being a husband, becoming a leader, being part of all these things, he didnt doubt how much of this must have been part of his past, but it was his future that mattered more now.
He walked well into the morning snacking on apples, knowing Molly still alseep. He wondered how things might be different now then in his past he still knew little about and shrugged, at least he thought it would not end the same way. He smiled and mouthed the words "Molly Teach" and walked to return to...home, yes, to return to his home. _________________ "I am lost and found all at once, all i had lost, i've found, only to be lost myself." |
