Pushing the blanket backwards, Beowulf turned to sit straight up on the side of his bed. Running his hands through his long white hair, he sighed quietly. The night had lasted longer than expected, and the finishing events weren’t all too pleasing to him.

He had returned to Dark Cove in a rush, the raven made the news sound urgent. He rushed to the Armunn courtyard, with Bone following closely behind. Upon arriving to the place the note had told them to, he found Imryrr “The Brat”.

She informed the two that a man was running around and defined orders. He had to be arrested and put in the jail for refusing to pay the fine, yet again another chase because of the new rules from the Dark Lord. Beowulf found the man and attacked, the fight went back and forth. Bone and Imryrr arrived and attempted to catch him. The man had great speed and broke away, only to return on a steed.

It had taken a little while but he had defeated Beowulf and Bone. Beowulf wrote it off as a night and made his way to his bedroom to join Tatiana for sleep. He had been asleep for not even a few minutes when a rapid thudding noise sounded on his door.

Charger quickly explained he needed his pass for being on Dark Cove land. He had already made friends with this Napoleon fellow and found out his story. Beowulf muttered and followed Charger to the main floor of his house to find it full with people.

For a few minutes conversations erupted around the room. It ended with Beowulf not so in the favor of the Mairsil, the other Division leader. It was believed that he was hiding two criminals in his house. Beowulf told them to be gone, Charger was a guard of his home and wasn’t going to be fined, he would write a pass for him if needed. The other man however was fined forty gold pieces, by Beowulf, which didn’t seem to be enough for them and the disagreements continued.

Beowulf gave up and told them all to leave; his house was now full with six people, seven including him. His blood began to boil when Mairsil continued to press on with the fact Beowulf shouldn’t be defending someone who refused to pay. Before he erupted in an angry tone he directed them towards the door and returned to his room.

This was not the only conflict of his night. Earlier that evening at Poet’s he had a run in with his newest enemy, Aya. Before seeing Aya Beowulf had to go downstairs to a private room in Poets. His head was throbbing and the pain was unbearable, he grasped his head for a few minutes, what didn’t seem to be to long for him.

Gerosh stood standing in a private room of Poets Garden. He was slightly confused; he had not yet been here. He guessed that Beowulf had been here and it was his time to shine. He searched in the magical pack that his alter ego had always had with him. He had hidden a light blue cloak in there a few nights earlier, allowing him to not look so evil. He pulled the cloak on and headed upstairs.
Appearing on the roof, Gerosh smiled upon the room. He made it his duty to greet Tatiana, and meet others around the room. He sat at the table that Loki, a friend of Beowulf’s, sat at with a woman. Gerosh began to ask odd questions; such as did Loki know him? What was his name again? He also went and met a couple named Isk and Angelique.

He heard the scampering of feet behind him and heard Tatiana yelling. A girl in a hooded shroud stood before her, speaking words of what seemed to be not very nice. Gerosh stood and approached the woman; he grabbed her hood and tugged it back revealing her face.

“Hello their ma’am.” He spoke, somewhat cheerfully. He had tried to act like Beowulf before, and gave up and just attacked as himself.

She smirked slightly and spoke coldly. “You again, the necromancer.”

“ Necromancer?” he asked, acting confused but knowing entirely what she spoke of. “I’m but a paladin.”

The woman laughed loudly and argued the fact that he was a paladin. The people occupying the room seemed a tad confused at this moment. Most had known Beowulf as an easily temper man, who wouldn’t stand for anyone to scare Tati. This man however, just stood there politely.

“I’ll hurt all your loved ones.” Aya continued.

“My loved ones are dead.” Gerosh spoke sternly.

“Dead? So you wouldn’t care if I killed Tatiana?”

“Well, I don’t think its very polite to harm someone, nor is it necessary.”

“I think it is.”

Gerosh grasped at his head; moaning slightly and informed her he’d have to be right back. He quickly ran downstairs and fell to his knees on the ground. He quickly pulled out a piece of parchment and quill and wrote quickly.

Beowulf,

We must meet, you do not know who I am, but I have answers for you. I’m somewhat apart of you, and can explain the recent events. You wife is in danger, we must work together.”

Ger-

Suddenly his hand trembled and he couldn’t finish writing the note. He shoved it in his pack and continued holding his head.

Beowulf shook his head slightly, the pain hadn’t lasted to long this time. He walked to the magic tile and made his way to the roof. Appearing on the roof he realized he was wearing a fairy type of cloak. Mumbling slightly he quickly switched it for his red one.

He glanced across the room at Aya and snarled. He approached her and placed his war axe upon her nose. It didn’t run across his mind that he had happened to have a war axe with him, and in his hand nonetheless. After speaking with her and threatening once again, he returned to his seat.

Just before Beowulf left the Garden he asked for a private conversation with Loki. The two went downstairs and spoke quietly about the recent events. Ever since Loki had challenged him to a friendly duel, they had been good friends. He knew he was able to rely on Loki for the favor. It wasn’t long after that Beowulf received a raven and rushed off to Dark Cove with Bone.

* * *

Still sitting on the edge of his bed he shook his head slightly. The recalling of his night wasn’t very pleasant, but he knew there was business to be done. He wasn’t sure if Tarothin would be uptight about the events of the previous evening, but it didn’t concern him much. His worries however, were for his wife.

He reached down and opened his magical pack to pull out his armor. While pulling out his pants, made out of fine leather, a piece of parchment fluttered to the ground. Bending over he wrapped his fingers around it and pulled it up to him to read it. Reading it carefully he chuckled.

“Apart of me?” he chuckled slightly. “This shall be interesting, even more junk on my plate to deal with.”

After reading several reports handed in, his mild mood turned sour, and quickly wrote down a summons to be delivered to Beowulf.

Beowulf,

I am quite displeased to hear that you have broken law number 11. A soldier caught not enforcing the laws, will be subject to disciplin. You are able to clear charges of that that happened to yourself if you wish, but not that of what happened to Bone. This citizen of Dark Cove that dared defy a soldier, even a high ranking officer no less, will be arrested until the set date of his execution. If he resists, will be executed there and then.

As far as yourself, you are summoned to speak to me infront of the guild, the reasons why you would choose to defy the laws meant to be enforced, and went in favor of mere peasants then your fellow soldier. I will send you notice of the time of the summons later tonight. Do not be late.

After handing that to one of his servants, he issues an order.

The Citizen by the name of Napolean, is to be immediately arrested for the crimes of attacking one Dark Order soldier, one Dark Cove officer, and my daughter. He managed to fell the soldier and the officer, but was halted before ever deciding a victor with my daughter.

He will be arrested on sight until the date of his public execution. On arrest, inform the man of his crimes. He will have a chance to speak before I, Tarothin Armunn, to give him the chance to explain the reason for his disorder. Even though this will not prevent his fate, but more to hear the man's words. This order is to be followed immediately.

Beowulf stands looking out across his yard from his porch. Watching the approaching servant from the Armunn house he holds out his hand. The servant quietly hands the letter to him and moves on with their buisness. Beowulf peals open the letter and reads it carefully.

Chuckling quietly to himself and smiles slightly. Proceeding to his office he grabs a quill and parchment and quickly replies.

Dear Tarothin,

If you wish to meet with me, we shall meet at a time which is conveniant for me. I am busy from the hours of 7:30 to 9:15 past the eastern sun. I will be free from 9:15 to 11.

I will speak to you, and you alone. Do what you wish with the man, but hear this. Charger halted the fight between your daughter and the man. He told her to leave the fight and return home, he wasn't about to watch her be slayin like myself and Bone. Charger than proceeded to clear up the mess with him. He was also the one to halt him and have him willingly come with the officers.

You may thank him on your free time.

Until this evening,

Sir Beowulf

Reads very quickly and then writes his reply.

Beowulf,

The summons is not for what time you choose to be summoned. When I do it, you will be here at the pointed time. As far as Charger goes, he has not commited a crime. It was Imryrr's choice to listen to him.

And I will do as I wish concerning this peasant to be arrested. The law will be up-held. And as such, following law number 11, so such shall it be concerning you. You can present your case as I stated in front of the whole guild to witness. That is what I had said, and what will be done. I expect order's to be followed by all under me, including high ranking officials.

He runs his eyes over the parchment quickly. Clenching his fist tightly he begins to reply.

Tarothin,

I don't know what you think your getting at. If I feel up to coming to meet you with, than I shall. I understand it is needed, so I will come, unless something comes up.

As for this "case" you speak of. You make it sound as if I will be taken to trial. Is this what you wish to do? I'm not in the mood for games. If you wish to punish me do so. I will explain what I did and no more, if you wish to arrest me, that will be dealt with.

Im not one of the follow along soldiers. I am a captain, and officer of the military. Such as this, I think I shall be allowed to make decisions concerning who I let in my home, and punish for disrespecting me. Charger seemed to trust him, as do I.

Beowulf,

Not bothering to stamp it with any of his stamps he sends it off.

*eyes flaring writes another note*

Beowulf,

You incolence to your leader will result in your demotion so as that you are made to be one of those, "follow along soldiers" if you continue as you do with me. As a captain under MY command, you will do as I wish or be dealt with accordingly. Do not tell me what you will and wont do. And as far as a trial, yes, to a degree it is. I had have yet determine what do to you for the breaking of rule number 11. Yes, you can dismiss the your right to charge of punish those that break laws towards yourself. But seeing that this also affected other Dark Order members, it is beyond your control. It is held under mine now, and so I have seen to deal with is according to however I wish. I was just going to reprimand you as your punishment infront of all for your lack of enforcement. But now the way how you think a captain is bigger then a lord, their may be worse things in store.

And as a captain, let me remind you of why you are a captain. Because of me. I hold what fate you have within the guild, do not press me. And as appointed as a captain, I expect better and more order comming from them, then that of the soldiers you discipline. Desention in the ranks comes faster if they see disorder from their superiors. And so demand, you to act better and more fitting of the uniform you wear in setting an example.

If you reply to this, other then an apology for your incolence and an accepting of my words. You will then be charged with other things.

Accepting the note at the door he paces over to his couch and falls back into the cushions. Placing his feet upon a stool infront of him, he unravels the parchment and begins to read.

Shaking his head slightly he finishes the note. Sighing slightly he scrunchs the note up in his hands. Finally he speaks out loud.

"He wouldn't." Standing up slightly he tosses the note in the fire.

"Where's Mave when you need him? I'm not apologizing for anything. If he wants to speak with me so badly, he can come to my home. He wants to show me how much power the Dark Lord holds, than let him take responsability in punishing me. I won't reply...nor will I follow anyone to speak infront of the guild."

Smirking slightly Beowulf makes his way to his office...to prepare.
