|
*A notice has been sent to the many cities of the world*
Due to the increase in violence across the city of Yew, travelers are warned to be wary of traveling alone. The factions of Yew have fought several skirmishes and it seems that war is all but certain. Orc raiders have taken advantage of the decrease in security have been seen in many locations through the city. Since the Army of the Frontier’s forces are tied up dealing with the Yew Town Council, those traveling alone are no longer safe. If you find yourself alone, please seek out an Army of the Frontier soldier and request and escort through the city. The Army of the Frontier would like to apologize for the lapse in security, and ask the good people of this land to bear with us during this time of great change.

Nick sat in his study in the Saint's castle thinking of the new martial law placed over Yew. He felt that the Yew Town Council was being unfairly accused of the actions done by the Yew Allied Guilds. The town council had always been peaceful, despite a few skirmishes with the Orcs, as of late.
Nick had never caused any physical harm to the Army. Yes, a few words were exchanged between him and Arlin, but surly that was water under the bridge. Also, this crazy talk of Nick's presence at Poet's Garden during an assassination attempt… Nick was not capable of doing such an act and if he had ordered the assassination, he was not stupid enough to go the scene of the crime so shortly after it had occurred.
Bobby, returning from Minoc with ignots, knocks on the open door to the study and hands Nick a parchment…
As Bobby takes leave, frustration fills Nick as he reads the parchment left in Minoc. The Army has abandoned their duties to fight the Yew Allied Guilds. Simple duties as guarding trade routes, buildings, and citizens! All of this because of a caravan leaving Yew Trammel heading for Yew Felucca. A small force of the Yew Allied Guilds assembled to escort the caravan in short notice and the Army is shaking in its boots…
As the frustration passed, Nick was calm again. He knew the Army would do the best they could to guard the city from the Orcs that had followed them there. Although, now the Army had to fight the citizens of Yew that they came to rule over…
Nick felt he should attempt to clarify the purpose of the Yew Town Council and try to explain to Arlin that it had no jurisdiction over the Yew Allied Guilds.
*Nick writes on a gold parchment with navy blue trim… *
Commander Arlin,
As your parchments suggest, the Yew Town Council is the culprit of the current uprising in Yew. That is incorrect. The Yew Town Council escorted a caravan from Yew Trammel and you saw the escorting force of the Yew Allied Guilds. They were escorts who respected the lands, animals, and citizens of Yew. For they, themselves, are the citizens of Yew. Did it feel odd to see such a gathering of YOUR towns' folk?
Do not misplace your anger for the Yew Allied Guilds upon the Yew Town Council. The Yew Town Council is a place for all Yew Guilds to have a voice. They have no jurisdiction over the Yew Allied Guilds.
So, you see whom you are exiling and fighting against. The council is in Yew and will remain in Yew. The uprising you have brought on are your own towns' folk.
Nick
Vice Mayor of Yew

News of the warning to travelers in Yew sent to all cities in the realm reached the Villiage of Akalabeth swiftly, it had only been days since James had been in Yew Trammel and now it seemed things have gotten out of hand faster then expected and now there was rumors and reports of the Orc's taking advantage of this despute between the guilds in Yew.
James was perplexed on how all this strife could have boiled over so soon and explode over just the simpliest of things as a Caravan that started in Yew Trammel. He began to wonder at the character of this man named Arlin. Is he so set in his ways that he'd perfer war over peaceful existence between all parties James thought to himself as he continued to sharpen his weapon and give Orders to some new recruits training. James also know a divided front left an opening for the Orc's and this worried him greatly especially since there were rumors of the Orc's and the Order of the Ebon Skull now allied under some pack that is sure to be found out in the course of what is to happen. Over all Jame's began to wonder if it was possible there would still be hope of a peaceful end to all this even though blood has already been shed for it not Yew could be in greater danger then it thinks. _________________ Ser Derek uth Matar |

Dom noticed the extravagent letter perched atop the pile. Upon inspection, she noticed the string was even fashioned of gold. They must have much wealth to be throwing around. Odd considering the lack of funds the Fellucian Yew has been seeing... she thought to herself, shaking her head slightly. On second thought, Dom realized that it must be of great importance, and urgance. She decided to take the liberty of opening it herself.
After finishing reading, she leaned her forehead into her palm while stroking her temples with her fingertips. The letter needed no complicated response, so she also took the liberty of responding.
Removing one of the scrolls from her pack she was planning to transcribe spells onto, she began to write:
Your Vice Mayorship,
Though I see no difference between the Yew Allied Guilds I've just now heard of and the Yew Town Council, I can safely say that it is with the council that we have our quarrel. The offending guilds are as much apart of the council as your organization of allies, and so there can be no possible discrepency between the two.
Also, I wish you the best of luck with the impending Orcs. The Army is doing all that it can, I hope your Council does the same. For all our sakes.

A sloppily written letter, sent to Nick
Vice Mayor Nick
The force you sent through my city, and the Abbey, I seen as a great insult to me claim over the region, ta mah men that have spilt thier blood ta defend the city from the orcs, that you should just walk through the city.
Howe'er, I do wish ta apologize fer outright accussin' ya a hirin' the assassin that put meh ta bed. I now 'ave reason ta believe that it were Lord Kotare, a the BlackWinds, that 'ired the assassin. While I were bedridden, he were heard many times speakin' ta mah troops of the abscense of mahself on the field, as well as insultin' meh directly.
It was also he that 'as initiated the attack on mah soldiers. And it was he that 'elped organize that caravan ta march through mah lands, without mah permission. Had I been asked, I would gladly 'ave allowed it ta pass. 'owever, I were niether given the respect nor the dignity a a request fer access ta mah lands.
Please pass these concerns a mine unto yer allies. Ive no wish to see this come to war, but I will defend my land. You've never tasted my blade Nick, and pray ya ne'er do, and I will pray the same.
Sincerely
Commander Arlin _________________ As the fire fades to night, remember always the ember that started it all. |

Commander Arlin,
I rallied the only paladin available for the escort and was given very short notice. I was under the impression that all the needed notices had been sent out prior.
As for the swords of you and your Army, I am but a peaceful politician who rarely looks for war. Although, if war were to erupt be assured the Saint's Paladins will make haste to defend their homeland. As I, as well, pray it doesn't come to that.

Dominatria,
As a politician, I gave the name "Yew Allied Guilds" to the guilds that have close ties to one another within Yew. All are Yew citizens and most reside in Yew Guilds. These guilds had banded together in the event that they were called upon to defend their homeland. I am not sure where Kotare fits, but at the moment I would say he is acting on his own accord.
The Yew Town Council consists of representatives of Yew Guilds. Surly the Saints would never ally with The Dark Awakening or the Orcs, but all three have a say in their homeland of Yew. The council is a place to put away your differences and work for the betterment of your homeland. To excite such a council would be a great detriment to our fair land in the woods. Such an exile would surly cause problems among the Yew Allied Guilds.
The Army is welcomed at the council table as every Yew guild is. Consider attending the next meeting or meeting with Lilyth and I.
As for this impending war, it is foolish! A war over a caravan? The caravan was of Yews own towns' people. As per the lack of notice given to the Army, I assure you that was not of my doing. Surly another chance of diplomacy can be attempted.

Upon hearing the news from nick, Kotare sent a letter to Arcana as he was pursuaded by Lilyth to do so.
M'lady Arcana,
It grieves me to be the one to write a letter to the lover of my enemy. But my enemy is beyod reasoning. So I turn to you in an attempt to show that we BlackWinds hold Honor close to their hearts as much as they value their pride. It is true that I do not write this letter at my own volition, but rather that one whom i've come to love and respect has requested that I do so. As a Duke of a prideful group of warriors, I will say this:
My actions against the Army of the frontier are justified as It is Arlin who has put pressure upon us to strike out. The very decree that states that I, as a citizen who supports the council, am not welcome in my own city by an Army that simply strode in over night I find insulting. The Decree was aimed at innocent citizens who value the Council as a governing body and not Arlins Iron fist. I know Arlin to be rash and unreasonable. Qualities that will eventually be his downfall. I declared all soldiers of the frontier enemies as they protect his policies. Policies which hinder the basic freedoms of every Yew citizen. Citizens who have come to know freedoms to speak their minds and voice opinions both for and against the rulling of the council. Freedoms to beable to walk where they wish to walk and gather where they wish to gather. The Iron fist in which Arlin grips Yew has taken away those freedoms. And that is why I war him.
If he desires peace, these are my terms:
He will allow unrestricted access to the council guilds as well as the citizens of yew full use of the City. He will openly or privately apologize to the elected Mayor for his actions against the council and he may continue to act as a guardian force provided he accepts the existance of the council as a governing body.
As for me, I will end all hostilities against the Army of the frontier, repay the families of the fallen soldiers who fell by my hand as well as submit myself to the will of the council for a punishment they deem worthy.
You will find me to be rather civil and I hope an accord can be made before more loss of life happens. If you wish to discuss these terms further, I could accompany Lady Lilyth to Poets tavern. I assure you I will treat the tavern as neutral ground and I will be unarmed. I await your reply.
Signed
Duke Kotare of BlackWind |

Greyskull sat as his desk in Kenderhom. Thoughts of his brother lost and building an army ran through his mind. His days he knew we getting shorter, since the alchemist who helped keep him alive has now joined his twin brother Gryhm.
Shanla had returned from shopping in Skara and she came into the chamber to check on the weary old man.
"I know Yew isnt a concern of yours right now, but it seems things are beginning to happen after all these years of being quiet." she put some fresh fruit on his desk with a copy of the notice and Greyskull picked up an apple.
"You would be correct in that assumption Shanla. Yew is not at all something I am focused on. But it would warrant closer inspection."
The old man got up from his chair and walked to the large meeting table, he began to write on a fresh piece of parchment.
"When Burfoot is well enough, have him send this to Dan. He is a soldier in the Army of the Frontier, and a former member of our Order. If anyone can tell us what is going on and how we can help, he will be the one to do it. With Yew in our backyard, we'll need to keep a closer eye on its happenings."
"Fair enough Jonathan. Now sit and rest, you havent been sleeping well at all these last few weeks" Shanla helped him back to his desk.
The old man smiled and winked "I wouldnt worry about me, I havent lived this long for nothing. |

Grishnak stands by the table, the sheepskin with the map of Clan Lands spread before him. Beside him, Snarfu marks off points on the map where human intruders have been active and across the table, Og'Din places pins into the map showing the last locations of Og'Din's shadow walking scouts.
War was coming. It had been a long time, the Orcs had grown fat and lazy. This would shake things up.
Grishnak turned to his Lords and grinned.
War will be good. _________________ " Got Orc?"

Beowulf sat at home looking over the parchments. They were slightly worn and ripped, he had found them on the ground of Yew and decided to look over them. Both were from Arlin, both were practicly the same: "To busy fighting and starting wars, -seek- us out if your alone either than fend for yourself."
Sure, they wearnt written that way but they mise well have been. He admired Arlin for his braverly and ability to take charge. They were a like in some ways, which slightly bothered him. The Frontier would have their hands full very soon, surely The Regulators wearn't going to just sit by.
Beowulf contemplated to himself, he knew the orcs would love this. The horde would be gathering, planning a mass attack. They would soon strike in hope of cleaning out The Frontier and The Yew Council. The Ebon Skull havn't been up to much latly, to the public eye they've been keeping out of trouble. They must be coming up with something, they too would surely strike along side the orcs.
Would The Regency step in to help Yew in the time of need? He highly doubted it, they were probably to busy with their own "problems". Did The Frontier have enough back up and allies to stand against all who opposed them. Would the city of Yew crumble because of the war between the Council and The Frontier? This wasn't really for Beowulf to worry about, but it still sat in his mind.
A couple of days ago Beowulf had visited Arlin and some of his soldiers at the Abbey. He had told Arlin if he needed any aid he would surely find a way to lend him a hand. He wasn't to sure what he could do, he wasn't to sure if he should do anything at all. He couldnt order the military of D|O to help because Tarothin and Ditto Armunn were away, along with Aless. Would he aid Arlin, or would he simply try and brake up the skirmish?"
"Perhaps I should speak with Mave soon." he spoke quietly to himself. "If the Regency is to busy to help the city of Yew than I will find a way to step in. If they do however send aid, than I will wait." |

Phyrra sat underneath a tree near the Abbey gazing off at the big stone building. She had been walking around Yew all morning, and was resting for a bit. She'd heard news of Orcs attacking the night before from a member of the Army. Along with mention of possible war with the Orcs, and the crumpled notice she'd found on the ground signed by Arlin warning people of traveling alone throughout the city.
"Make it look like an accident." Is what she'd been told by her broker
The words ran through her mind. She was still new at this, but she was smart enough to figure out how to make it look like an accident. And with the news of Orcs being in the area, she knew that she could not pass up the opportunity that was right in front of her face. The Orcs were known for killing, and if she made it look like one of them did it then she could go about her life as usual with no worries.
Phyrra stood up slowly and looked around. She rather liked Yew, it reminded her of her home. But she would be glad to get away from the Army and the swamps. The Army asked too many questions, and they were constantly around. She found herself having to stay in the shadows more than she cared for. She started off towards the Abbey to search around some more, and make sure she hadn't missed anything. |
