Alex silently went through his things in his storage chest on the second floor of his home while thinking of what to do next. The letter from Lady Lia of the Guardians of Vesper had arrived two days ago. His release was granted and the acceptance of his squire was set in motion. Alex felt a bit sad about his leaving but knew it had to be done. He knew he must find the swords of power before they fell in the wrong hands even if the quest killed him in the process. After he found the swords though he knew not where his path would take him next he knew for certain his days with the Guardians of Vesper were over but did not how to explain that in his letter to his Lia. He also knew he would miss Stormeye's while away he hoped she would understand and planned to see her before he officaly left for his journey but finding her was another matter all together. She had the habit of disappearing for long periods of time much like himself. He so badly needed to tell her he was not abandoning her forever and that he still loved her and would be back in her life once the quest was done and over even though he would no longer be part of the Guardians.

Alex also worried about Cyrus Crownguard for this would be the first time his squire would be without his master and in the care of others since he found the orphaned boy in Yew some ten years ago. He knew Cyrus had the potiental to be a great Knight if he got the training he needed. He had hoped to be the one the train the boy in the sword but now the quest was most important thing. Cleaning his mind Alex returned at the task before him he had managed to pack all he would need for the mountains of Dagger Island. He mad sure to pack a thick coat as well. He had heard rumors of the Sword of Ice being hidden there somewhere in the mountains. He think stood up and walked over to his desk and took hold of a map. "That dwarf better be right about the sword being there or I'll come back and skin him alive. Alex said to himself as he grabed the map and made his way down the stairs to the first floor*

Once reaching the first floor Alex looked around once more at his home. He had just recently bought the place and now he had to leave it for along time. He had many plans to do some work on the house but now those would have to wait as well. Alex took a deep breath and let out a sigh then walked to the door. Once through the door he approached the boat docked near the bank. He turned and looked one last time at his home then saluted and boarded the ship. He then raised the anchor and set sail ready to begin his quest. One that would change his life but first he had to pay one last visit to Vesper in hopes of finding Lady Stormyeyes.

Alex Brightblade stood on the cold shores of the Island known as Dagger Island looking down at the map he now held in his hand trying to figure out where to go next. The map made little sense at times for the writing was made by a dwarf who used the common scrpit but at times words not known in the dwarven language where jumbled in the common language. Alex began to get impatient and very annoyed at the trouble he was having, so much so that he rolled up the map stuck it in his pocket and leaned up against his moored boat slightly. He began to think of Stormyeyes the one woman he loved more then life itself and wished he had found her at the Guardians of Vesper Hall the night he showed up but alas she was not there. He had thought about leaving her a letter but felt it best not to worry her with the knowledge of the quest he had taken one. He knew for a fact the sword was on the island somewhere because he could sense its power even though it was very weak.

Alex had rested for about an hour nearly falling asleep twice from the cold of the Island. He knew if he fell asleep he may never awake for other then the cold there were other dangers on the Island such as Orc's and Ice Trolls. Finally dertermined to figure the map out he pulled the map out again and began to look it over. It took what seemed to be an hour for him to figure out which way away to go. He rolled up the map and stuck it in his back pack and then climbed back on the boat to gather his weapons and some supplies he would need to survive a journey in the cold weather. After he had gathered his things and headed southeast.

According to the map the journey he was taking would lead him near the Shrine of Honesty. He began his trek further into the cold region of Dagger Island all the while hoping he could avoid any danger. He also hoped he could make it there before nightfall because the nights on the Island where the harshest anywhere in the realm...

To be continued..
