It was a beautiful day. The sun was shining, the birds were singing, and the animals could be heard off in the woods. It was perfect. That was until Rachel stepped through the moongate into Umbra. There were no birds singing, no sun shining, and if there were any animals most of them were just bones. It was a depressing place to be. Vaen had asked her to come with him in search of Horace. The Legion was to put him under arrest for his crimes against humanity, murder, and his crimes against Justice. Rachel was not looking forward to being in Umbra because of their last encounter with the Ebon Skull here, but she knew that she could not let Vaen go alone. They tried to keep to the roads and follow the mountain so that they hopefully would not be seen by any of the Ebon Skull members, and carefully checked inside each building that they passed.

When they came to a large staircase that seemed to go up into the mountain forever, Vaen started up the stairs. Rachel followed him and they looked around the bottom floor and then proceeded to the second when they had no luck with the first. As they came up the top of the stairs they saw Horace sitting at his desk. He looked up at them when he heard his name and smiled at them.

"Ah, Vaen. Have you come to arrest me?"

Vaen nodded. Rachel looked back and forth between the two of them until she heard someone come up to the top of the stairs. There she saw a man dressed all in dark, and he had an angry expression on his face.

"Horace, what is going on? Why are these two here?"

"Vaen, could you two please wait downstairs while I talk to this traitor?" Horace asked them and nodded towards the man in black. "I need to speak with Darrien alone."

"We'll wait here." Vaen replied.

"Yes, please do not let us disturb you." Rachel said. She did not want to leave Horace alone up here with this man in fear that he might try to escape while they were not watching. She was glad that Vaen seemed to have the same idea in mind.

Horace and Darrien went on to continue their talk until Darrien finally asked why Vaen and Rachel were there.

"They are here to arrest me Darrien."

"And do you want to be arrested?"

"No, but I would not be able to escape from Vaen."

Darrien persisted that Horace not go so easily, and even threatened to take out Vaen himself if Vaen did not leave. When Vaen refused, and asked him to step aside so that Horace could be put under arrest, Darrien warned Vaen that he would kill Rachel. Horace told Darrien to back down and let Vaen and Rachel arrest him. That there was nothing that Darrien could do. He insisted Darrien find him a lawyer and make sure that their people were protected. Darrien finally gave in, and went off to make sure things were in order. Rachel then opened her runebook and opened a red moongate to her house, where Horace was to be kept in a room until his trial.

Valatin enters the room, and shuts the door behind him.

*Valatin Examines the man sitting in the chair*

*Horace looks up and smiles*

Valatin : My name is Valatin

Horace : Hello Valatin, My name is Horace Telver

Horace : Why don't you sit down and have a chat with me

Valatin : I will not sit with you, But I am willing to talk

*Valatin leans against the wall*

Horace : Alright then, Tell me about yourself, Where are you from

Valatin : Minoc forest area

Horace : The mining hut area?

Valatin : Near there...

Horace : Family of miners?

Valatin : My grandfather was a miner

Horace : Oh? What of your father

Valatin : My father didn't enjoy the physical work,
He learned the arts of magic, He was a magician

Horace : And your mother?

Valatin : A domestic engineer, Otherwise known as, a House wife

Valatin : She also tampered in the arts of healing, Nothing to be renowned for

Valatin : Why do you keeping asking me these questions

*Valatin looks a bit agitated*

Horace : Because I'm interested

Valatin : Why are you so interested in me

Horace : Because your a fascinating person!

Valatin : Im glad I fascinate you so

Valatin : What about you?

Horace : My father was a trader, My grandfather was a trader

Valatin : And your mother?

Horace : My mother, A domestic engineer

*Horace Smiles*

Valatin : And your a murderer

*Horace looks shocked*

Horace : I personally am a sorceror, and a politician. Worse than a murderer you might say.

Valatin : A sorceror, a politician

Valatin : Nothing wrong with that at all

Valatin : However,

Valatin : A murderer, A taker of innocent lives, is far worse

Horace : I would like you to define murderer.

Valatin : A politician may be able to take away someones right

Valatin : A murderer takes away someones life

Valatin : Or cause a chain of events to end up in the loss of innocent life

Horace : Have you ever killed someone with your own hands?

Valatin : I have, I have killed murderers like you

Horace : But doesn't that make you a murderer?

Valatin : No, Not at all

Valatin : It makes me a savior of innocents, of those who do not deserve to die

Valatin : It is the way I live my life everyday

Valatin : Those factors make me a guardian of life

Valatin : And make you a murderer of it

Horace : The only people I have ordered the death of, have been traitors to our city, thieves, and criminals

Valatin : What do you consider a criminal?

Valatin : What do you consider a traitor?

Horace : Theft, Arson, vanquish, Murder

Horace : Treason is the conspiracy or action to unseat the governemtn of Umbra

Horace : I think you and I are very much alike

Horace : We both want to save our people

Valatin : To unseat the government that stands for taking life?

*Valatin takes a step towards the man*

Valatin : And manipulating it

*Valatin takes another step*

Valatin : That makes me...A traitor?

*Valatin takes another step and is now face to face with Horace*

Valatin : And now, You should kill me? and Torture me?

*Horace smiles broadly and pats Valatin's cheek*

*Valatin slaps his hand away*

Horace : You are headstrong

Horace : what do you think you are doing here?

Horace : Manipulating life.

Valatin : Manipulating nothing

Horace : You lock an old man away in a room

Horace : Put him on trial for things that his nation does not see as crimes

Valatin : I locked a murderer away in a room

Valatin : And he is no longer in, his nation.

Horace : Whatever the result of this trial, is the manipulation of a life

Valatin : You are wrong.

Valatin : Preventing further harm towards innocent people

Valatin : Will be the result of your trial

Horace : Isn't that manipulation of life as well?

Horace : Be it for fair or foul, it is manipulation

Valatin : Now then, if you consider removing a threat to many innocent lives

Valatin : The manipulation of a murderers life,

Valatin : To stop him from ever doing again what he has done

*Valatin smiles at the man staring him in the eyes*

Horace : The people that I have sentenced to death, all plooted to kill citizens of Umbra

Valatin : People like you

Horace : There for, you are trying to punish me for what you think you are doing now

Valatin : Wrong again old man

Valatin : Someone who tries to overthrow your government, based on murder and the tortue of innocent life

Valatin : Does not deserve death, as you sentenced it

*Horace crosses one leg over the other*

Valatin : If you want to try to bring me down to your level

Valatin : How about we try you with the death penalty

Valatin : As you have to so many others

Valatin : For what seems to be the right thing to do.

Horace : I do not think it is bringing down, I believe we are the same

Horace : You have a lovely wife

Valatin : She is, quite nice

Horace : When did you meet her?

Valatin : However, I am not on your level

Valatin : And if, you believe I am, Then this trial, You in this room, is all justified.

Valatin : Under your very own laws

*Horace smiles*

Horace : You are very good, how long have you been a military prosecuter?

Valatin : So then, Maybe we should put the death penalty on the table? As you have?

Horace : It is up to the tribunal to face, and you

Valatin : You face no tribunal, You will be judged by them

Valatin : However, I will make sure you are never allowed to hurt another person again. I do promise that

Valatin : Good day horace, I will be seeing you again...

Horace : Why don't you stay for a while

*Valatin leaves the room, shuts and locks the door behind him*

Vaen sat in his house, deep in thought about the happenings of today. His talk with Horace, in which Vaen was unable to gather up any kind of information. Vaen sighed.

"Horace is a tough one to beat in conversation. Atleast for my style..." Vaen sighed again, thinking back to the conversation he had with Horace, where Horace wouldn't answer anything directly, and Vaen was unable to get an answer he was looking for from Horace.

Vaen nodded to himself. "At least Valatin got the answers he was looking for. And he will be the prosecutor..."

Vaen stood and walked to the window, glancing out. "We have one of the Order of Ebon Skull's higher ranking officers. We need to be ready incase there's any retaliation." Vaen narrowed his eyes, looking out in a distance at a shadowy figure. Once Vaen spotted this figure, it disappeared in what seemed to be thin air. A little confused, Vaen shook his head, passing it off as his eyes playing tricks on him.

"A trial date is all that we need now." Vaen said to himself. "Justice will be served."

Dybbuk stood in the corner of the cell, as lifeless as he could possiably be. The room was empty save for a bed and a chest, thought it was pitch black- That was all he needed to not be seen. He had been waiting here for what seemed like an enternity, but was acctualy more like seven hours. His orders where simple: Keep an eye on Horace, and report back if anything should happen. It was a task not only of patience, but of trying to be in a room with a man that seemed to emmit an aurora of evil. Horace sat on the bed across the cell motionless. The task was becoming not a matter of waiting it out and not being found, but of staying awake. Just as Dybbuk blinked what he thought would be has last, he heard a voice- a greeting. The visitor was robed and wearing a hat, but Dybbuk could tell that it was a she. His eyes squinted in the darkness, trying to make out who it was as she walked over to the now standing Horace. When her face entered a beam of moonlight, Dybbuk knew who she was. He had met her at the Cove market, but her name was not so easily found as he remember how drunk he had gotten that day. The only name he could associate with her was Zero. "What a great time to be bad with names" he thought to himself as he listened in. He didnt know most of what they talked about, and for a while he started to think that this was just a formal vist. But then, he relized what they spoke of- The women spoke her orgainization being gathered, and of the capture of the Legions own Natalya. She asked Horace if she should be treaed well, or if it was ok to beat her- He did not catch what he said, but he spoke of her being in shackles. Dybbuk knew that this was what Vaen spoke of when he told him to be on the look out for anything "suspecious". Just as he thought they where finished and as he was preparing to slip out, the women knew they were not alone. She told Horace this, and he said in a way dybbuk will never forget, as if all the evil in the world was focused upon him, "Kill the spy, dear".

Dybbuk sat on the roof of his house overlooking the Mountains of Despise. It was going to be morning soon, though there was no sign of the suns light. Behind Dybbuk stool a man possiably younger than him. He was dressed in a coal colored outfit that a rogue would most likely wear and had a bandana around his head. Dybbuk stared out into the horizon and said to him, "I shall be returning to Occlo in due time- my work here is not yet done". After a brief pause, Dybbuk said in a calmer voice; "Return now to Occlo Abica, I shall be contacting you when I will be returning." As the young man recalled away, Dybbuk headed downstairs- There was but one more thing he wanted before he would sleep... A drink.
