Ivae fell backwards onto the bed, grabbing a pillow and attempting to squeeze the life out of it. Her face was broken by a wide smile, one she was sure would never fade. Her head was spinning and she felt very close to passing out. How in the world could this be happening to her?
Nazralte had asked her to wed him. In front of people, no less. Her housewarming, which she had been certain no one would attend, had drawn a crowd so large they could not all fit in her new home. In the midst of song and dance, Nazralte had dropped to one knee, and asked her to marry him.
Her heart had stopped. Primes be damned she had never expected it. And Phantom! She had known, all along, and had not told her!! Ivae really would have to scold her throughally later. But for now, she was too happy. Nothing could ruin her mood. Thoughts swarmed through her head. How, when, where, and with whom?
She began making a mental list of all those she would have to invite and all the flowers she was going to have to grow. Her eyes danced with merriment and she was so caught up in her planning and happiness, she did not hear Naz enter her bedroom.
As he leaned over her, she laughed gleefully and pulled him down, capturing his lips with hers. The kiss that followed was short, but no less passionate. She had never noticed before now, but his eyes crinkled just slightly at the edges when he smiled. Lord he was handsome. She lifted a thin hand, running her fingers through that lock of hair that seemed to constantly fall along his forehead.
His hands were on either side of her shoulders, bracing his weight as he hovered over her. She ran her soft fingertips along his cheeks, and smiled up at him.
"Amin mela lle, melamin" she whispered, before leaning up and kissing his nose.
He returned her smile, kissing her softly on the lips, and then scooped an arm under her legs, tucking her into bed. Always the sensible one, she thought, as she yawned. The bed moved slightly as his weight was added, and soon his warmth spun around her, his strong arms embracing her and pulling her slight body back against his.
The last thing she heard before she drifted off into slumber, was Naz telling her how much he loved her. She couldn't remember a night she slept better. _________________
