While Tarothin toiled in his studies, Ditto distracted herself with a painting of their son, Daerauko, as he had looked when they said their temporary goodbyes in the realm of the Young Kingdoms. He was constantly in her thoughts and ponderings. She missed him.

He had been born sooner than expected. Pink hair that now had grown jet black. Slightly pointed ears. Well defined noble features like that of her graceful ancestors, yet so too did he carry his father's looks. The rogue'ish grin, and his dangerously serious blue eyes were identical to Tarothin's. Daerauko was a quiet child who seemed always to be contemplating his next big adventure. He had shown no fear when being introduced to her father's dragons, and instead, took to them instantly. So much so, that Daerauko seemed more interested in talking his baby talk to them instead of his parents. During the days that Tarothin had been planning for their return to Sosaria, Daerauko had managed to worry everyone by toddling off quietly unnoticed, only to be found later sitting as still as the shadows, in the darkness of the dragons' cave very contentedly. As quiet as he was, he always shined with that grin of his whenever he saw his parents.

Ditto sighed sadly as she made the paint strokes for his shining eyes. It had been secretly planned that he would be escorted from his grandfather's island to join his parents in Sosaria. His guard was to have been Noah Hafford, Cat's big brother. She had even planned a family picnic for the day after his arrival. But, only an hour ago she had sealed a letter addressed to her father and Julia, cancelling Daerauko's homecoming. Things were too complicated and dangerous at present, and it would be best for him to stay safely where he was, even if that meant she wouldn't see him until she and Tarothin returned to the Young Kingdoms together.
