During exploration into the new walls of the lower tunnel of Minoc Mines, the exploration crew hit an underground river linked into the complex ground water table within the area. Water quickly rushed into the caverns. On the orders of the head of mines; the area was contained with boulders.
Yosef the Chief Mine engineer was quickly informed of the matter. Within minutes Yosef was onsite and the de-watering management plan was drawn. At the orders of Yosef the newly opened hole was closed with fill and a Vat was built. Inside the vat water started to pool from the cavern. From inside the vat, water was transported into barrels. This process took the miners hours to de-water the cavern. Within the early afternoon all water from within the mines was contained and normal operations has resumed.
