Not know the whereabouts of his informant, Thraxas penned a letter to her and sent it by courier to give to Scar, whom he knew most definitely would.

My dear Lady, Deminatza,

I want to thank you for coming to me about the matter of my envoy's perfidious behavior. After our conversation, I went to my stocks of poison and discovered he had exchanged the contents of one, that of which I described to you, for another, less potent variety. I knew then that Darthos was responsible, for only he knew the location of my supplies and had some chance of access. Upon questioning him, I sensed his duplicity and had him thrown into jail, one especially made for persons of his type. He has yet to confess, but I am confident he will, given the techniques I have in mind for him if he remains stubborn.

I also wanted to tell you that I was in time with the antidote to save the boy. I hurried through the preparation and was concerned it may have been botched, but it was not. I left the boy this morning with his mother and the healers. He should recover completely within a day or two, as he is still quite weak from lack of nourishment.

Please keep me informed as to current events in Papua. I hope this matter is now cleared up, but who can tell? I am still at a loss as to why my servant would do such a thing, but I am sure it was to affect some measure of control there. He has always been overly ambitious and self-serving, not knowing nor keeping his place. I assure you, he has found his place now. If you wish to schedule a visit to him, I would be happy to arrange that, but I believe it would be best if he did not know who it was who informed to me about him. He has many friends and now that I have made his list, I would not that you did also. Still, it is your choice. I will make the same offer to your fiance', Scar.
