Imryrr sat there. Relaxed back in the seat, legs crossed and her arms casually positioned on the armrests of the chair. An air of supreme accomplishment and gloat, but her face remained a stoic countenance.

Her mother lay on the floor sideways. Her eyes open with tears of frustration trickling down her cheeks. She couldn't move. The poison had acted too quickly. By the time she realized anything was wrong, she'd been rendered immobile. Speaking was difficult for her and getting more so. The pain in her throat was increasing. Except for the pain, she felt as if her mind had been placed inside an unmoving block of stone. "Imy..if I...die. He'll ...kill you.

She knew who Ditto meant. Her father, Tarothin. Imryrr was unemotional when she spoke. "Don't worry mother. The poison should not kill you. You'll just be-," she paused a moment to look her mother over, "- different. Paralyzed, or perhaps in a coma. If death comes to you, it will not have been my intention, and...an unfortunate circumstance."

Ditto squeezed her eyes shut tight. Her worry was more for her unborn child and the daughter that caused her current state.
Suddenly, Imryrr bent over to put her head close over Ditto's and spoke in a soft, disturbing tone. "It's probably dying right now. The little bastard. The poison has reached it by now. The pain your feeling might be only an ounce of the pain it feels. Slowly...dying...in agony." She placed a kiss upon her mother's brow before sitting back up quickly. "At least," she said shrugging, "I'd like to think of it that way."
Her mother struggled to speak and she watched the turmoil in Ditto's eyes, before speaking again. "Besides, mother. I am perhaps doing father a service by killing the unborn, since Dallben could very well be the thing's sire. Isn't that right?"

The Melnibone wine was starting to have an effect on Ditto. With her mind clouded, the room and every object in it seemed to be breathing..but she could still hear Imryrr's voice. Had she heard correctly though, or was it just the wine? Again, Ditto struggled to speak. The only language she could find in her whirling mind was that of her native tongue, and the only word her heart shouted, "ja'ra'auc".
And then, Ditto lost consciousness.

She heard a door open. But it was proabably just another hallucination. Ditto had been laying there, going in and out of consciousness for a few hours. Dried tears would be refreshed whenever she thought of what Imryrr had done and the felt the frustrating helplessness surround her. This time there was a voice in her hallucination as well. Enoch's voice. But, just maybe....
Ditto opened her eyes and saw them both very clearly, Enoch and his wife Aulbrey. Their movements and that of the room was too clear for it to be a hallucination. She'd been found at last. Maybe there was still time to save the baby.

With a bit of renewed strength, she still couldn't speak but she could make groan sounds, and so, she tried communicating that way, and blinking her eyes hard and long. Over the next hour she tried as hard as she could to tell them to find Bree. Bree might have an antedote. But they just didn't seem to understand her. She'd been taken to a lab where she was placed on a couch. Nearby, lay the corpse of a polar bear. The result of a failed experiment by Enoch trying to find a way to cure her. It seemed the Dark Order's spiritual advisor on Oblivion was more skilled in raising the dead rather than saving one from death. But then, that was to be expected. Just when Ditto felt herself beginning to weaken and had to fight losing consciousness again, Aulbrey had an idea....trying to communicate with Ditto. Finally!
After several questions and several groans in answer, Enoch had a handle on things and they began their quest anew. Ditto was taken to the Arena where she was placed on a cot for comfort so that Enoch could find the antedote so desperately needed. There was a comment from Enoch..the baby was kicking he'd said. Ditto smiled at this before closing her eyes.

That evening....

"Yes Bree?" Tarothin's youngest daughter had just entered the keep a short while after him, slipping out from the shadows. She hadn't needed to make her presence known. He knew she was there. "I'm not in the best of moods. So make it quick."
With the voice of innocence and a mind filled for the want of revenge for her sister's act, she asked with a charming smile attached, "How's nuna?"
"She's fine, why?"

Fine? Was he dismissing her as a child with simple responses or was he, like her, seeking more information. She'd gladly give him all the infomation she had, but Bree wanted to proceed cautiously in case he hadn't heard what happened and she'd be left to face her father's initial rage all alone. She trusted her father, just not his temper. Better for her that it be aimed at the one responcible.
"Because of what Imy did." She searched his expression from under her thick lashes, a simple girlish manuever but the wrong one in this case. She saw contained anger in his eyes, but at least they weren't red..yet. She was still smiling when she put in, "You know don't you?"
"I hope that your smile was about Imy going to get reprimanded and not that you were happy that your mother was near killed." His patience was wearing thin, and that's when Bree saw what she was hoping not to see. His eyes turned red, the daemon's red eyes, and he motioned for her to come closer to him.
Bree complied, swallowing back her nervousness, but she didn't want him getting the wrong idea, so she said quietly, "My smile was for the reprimand."
Tilting her head back to look up at him, she wanted to show as little fear as possible since that might only serve to anger him further. Tarothin leaned in closely where she could see sharp teeth as he spoke. "Listen closely." Bree's body began to shake slighty, not entirely able to hide the intimidation and fear she felt, but she listened to his words, "When I say I am in a bad mood. I do not want any sort of game. You will talk to me straight and clear. The batting of eyelashes will do nothing but make me angry."
She tried to explain, "But I don't know what to do right now papa. It's Imy's game."
"The only game I like to play, is my own." Tarothin replied as he straightened back up.
Bree was still worried he might have the wrong idea. Might think she was knowingly involved. "But--"
"Do I make myself clear?"
She nodded to her father and then lowered her head, thinking, speaking quietly, and telling him all she could as quickly as she could, "It was my poison. I told Imy what to do , how to do it. She never mentioned the melnibone wine.... It mustve' mutated the poison somehow. And she never mentioned using it on nuna!" Bree brought her face up quickly to look at him, pleading the truth to him, "I wouldn't have told her a thing if I knew!"
Thats when she noticed his arms folded and a stern look on his face. His hands were not his human hands any longer. They were claws. And he looked to be bigger, more looming. She bit down hard on her now trembling lip, and tried to think of anything else he might want to know. "I overheard things. Nuna is at Galnors. I was to go to Moonglow til you were home....but I... didn't. I... I hid and waited for you."
"As you should have. Who told you to go to Moonglow?"
"A message...a chicken thing...messenger." She dug around in her pouch a moment til she found the small rolled scroll and handed it out to him.
Tarothin reached out to grab it between two sharp claws and then unrolled it to read it carefully, studying more the handwriting than the words themselves.
Quote:
Bree,
Get to Moonglow til your papa is home for your safety.

Bree questioned the validity of the parchment. "It doesn't look like nuna's handwritting papa. And it wasnt signed so..yes, I hid and waited."
Tarothin knew his wife's words and writing well. Sober, drunk, or...struggling, as it seemed to be the case here. There was no question it was Ditto's, and thankfully his eldest daughter, Imryrr, hadn't resorted to forgery.
Bree didn't wait before confessing her own sin during the moment he looked upon the parchment. "I...uhh..made Imryrr sick. Am I in trouble?"
He tucked the parchment away, "Only if I find out that you knew what the posion was for." Tarothin's youngest had only a second to breath relieved before he spoke. "Come."
He started walking out the door and to the teleporter stone that led to the Armunn Arena, with Bree following quickly behind him to keep pace with her father's long strides. Rare was it for her to ramble, but she did so now. She didn't want to get in trouble. "The poison used on nuna was mine but I didnt know. The poison I used on Imy, I did myself, but only to make her sick."
Tarothin and Bree left the keep to find the one responsible for his anger, Imryrr.

She was just inside her Arena office by her desk. The waves of nausea had ended. As she finished wiping the spittle from her face, she began to think things over. Imryrr had little doubt who had caused that particular bout of sickness. It was a shame to her that her little sister could not stand with her on this issue of getting rid of a potential heir, but then, she couldn't blame her. Bree would naturally play it safe by siding with their father on nearly all issues. Her childish behavior on poisoning her could and should be overlooked, but Imryrr wouldn't let her know that. For now, Imryrr knew she'd soon have a much bigger personal issue to deal with. Her father, Tarothin Armunn.

As if on cue, and too soon for Imryrr's liking, her office door swung open. Tarothin entered the room with determined strides, headed straight for Imryrr. She instinctively reached for her sheild, but too late. Without saying a word he pulled back his clawed hand and slashed her across the side of her face, sending his six foot daughter across the room with little effort. She impacted hard against the wall before falling to the floor. Slowly, she lifted her angry eyes to meet her father's. Her teeth gritted in loosely contained rage, she held herself in check while her senses regained themselves from the impact.
"Now that I have your complete attention." His voice was strong and unmoving, "You will tell me what you have done. I can guess the why. So no need on stating that."

The littlest Armunn, Bree, hung back behind her father in the shadows, watching. Neither had heard her the tiny gasp escape her lips when he struck Imryrr. She had never in her young life seen her father strike any of the three Armunn females. Bree might've hated her father in that moment if the act that caused it hadn't been so atrocious. She was not like them, her papa and Imryrr. She cared little for honor, herself. But to nearly kill her nuna, her mother....well, she understood his action. A part of her felt bad for Imy, while another part celebrated. She listened and watched on, quietly.

Blood ran down the left side of Imyrr's face, bared flesh just peeking through the muck of it here and there. She wiped at the blood that had trickled to her eyes to better see her father asked simply, "Well, before I answer, if I stand, will you knock me back down?"
Folding his arms, Tarothin considered his eldest daughter's question for a moment. "It might be wise to stay on the ground."
Imryrr sat up straighter, leaning her back against the wall for support. Just this movement caused her to think that to stand might have been a feat in itself in her current state. "I poisoned mother." That was all she needed to say, but began explaining herself. "Not to kill her, just the unborn.."
Tarothin cut in, "I said I knew the why. Did I not?"
"Aye. You want the details then?"
"The simple fact is that you poisoned Ditto. I wanted it to come from your own lips."

He wouldn't listen to her reasoning because he simply didn't care. Imryrr just wanted this over. She could say this talk wasted both of their time, but the simple truth was, she didn't want to lose consciousness from the loss of blood. " Fine! I poisoned mother. It was a necessity." She confessed again, hoping to end this and he would just walk out. But, he didn't.
"Perhaps leaving the slashes across the side of your face to turn into scars is necessary then. So you will forever look upon yourself in a mirror and know the warning should you try again."

His words penetrated her pain hazed mind into clarity. This was no mere lesson from father to daughter. For him, this was personal. That made for a much more dangerous situation than she'd expected and she knew the only reason she still breathed was because she was his daughter. She couldn't understand his sentimental attachment to her mother. But Imryrr held no such attachment and would apply it the only way she knew how. A lesson. Her next statement told him this, along with a veiled notice within words."No, I'll look at it as a reminder that I failed."

Tarothin caught her meaning immediately and would put an end to any of her future plots of harming his wife. One way or another. His notice was not veiled. "Well. That would be the only way you would actually be able to look upon them. Because if you succeeded, you wouldn't be alive to do so."
She didn't fear his words, though she knew he meant them and she took them to heart, but it also stung in a different way. She was reminded her place of importance to him fell under her mother's. Insulting since she considered Ditto...weak. "Mother nearly died but the little bastard is strong." Then added an extra barb, growling out, "Is it even yours?"
Imryrr had heard the rumors of Ditto's infidelity with Cear Dallben of the Zog Cabal as most within the Dark Order had.

"I guess it was wise you stayed on the ground." He said, quieting any further attempts she might make to try to test his patience. "It was Ditto I was concerned about. Her nearly dying is why I did what I did. I was robbed of the fact of killing Trillin. For what he did to my family. I will not make that mistake again." And then Tarothin changed course, glancing behind at Bree and then back to Imryrr, "Now both of you. Listen to me now."

Bree stepped out of the shadows and into clear view beside him. Imryrr shoved the anger and pain from her mind, and listened, taking on her stoic expression. The atmosphere in the room changed with Tarothin's next words, "I... ", he cleared his throat looking a little awkward, " love you both." The awkwardness disappeard and he became serious again. "But, if either one of you ever, harm Ditto again.. Then need I say more?"

Bree nodded in shock, "Yes, please."
Imryrr only shook her head to the negative before looking away in her own awkardness.

Tarothin continued firmly, "The child being born will be born. If that child isn't born by any other means than Galnor telling me that it didn't happen naturally, then I will assume. And when I assume... It will very well be bad."

Imryrr sighed and nodded before making a verbal agreement, "Yes, father. I will not harm mother or the baby."
The younger Armunn daughter nodded and shrugged, slipping into her 'good little girl' skin, "I never harmed her or was planning on it."
He looked at Imryrr directly, "Let the child grow old enough to defend itself. Then you can do what you wish."
Imryrr raised a bleeding brow. "Even if its a son? And..yours?"
"I do not doubt it's mine." He said firmly and briefly to put the matter to rest before continuing.

Bree silently watched her older sister to see if she would respond and give Bree away for being the one who started the rumor. Imryrr caught her stare from the corner of her vision but was careful not to look her way. Their father was too aware and might figure things out with a mere glance. Instead, she listened as Tarothin continued in a colder tone, "If you manage to kill the son, then the son was too weak. But Do so on equal ground. Not this petty cowardice, unbefitting of a child of mine. I do not mind a little sibling rivalry. Rivalries make people push further than they normally would. "
Imryrr inclined her head respectfully, "I will bide my time honorably, father." And then argued with the same respectful tone, "Though it was not cowardice. It's not even born. It would not have been murder."
Tarothin pointed out a raw flaw in her argument, "I did not think you as that weak Imy. Are you that afraid of a baby?"
"It is not yet a baby." She put in. "It is not yet a person. I.."
"Do not speak again." His patience with her was close at it's end. " I hope you heed my words. For your sake."
"Yes, father. I will."
"Did I say to speak? That wasn't a question." He said abruptly.
A giggle escaped Bree but she hushed it quickly.

Tarothin then turned and walked out of the room to make his way back to Keep Armunn. A sneer from Imryrr to Bree, sent the youngest following on her father's heels. She would remain close by him for the next couple of days as it was the safest place to be while her sister's temper cooled and her wounded pride healed.
Imryrr's immediate concern was a more physical wound and she braced herself against the wall.

A little less than an hour later, she was sitting on the edge of the bed, holding a mirror and checking on her now cleaned face, though blood still seeped from it. Four long large claw marks highlighed the majority of the left side of her face, in tiger-mark fashion. From slighty above her brow running down, just missing the eye, to the edge of her mouth. The bone was exposed lightly at the deepest areas of the gashes. She sighed inwardly, ignoring the stinging and throbing pain. These would definately leave scars for a lifetime, she thought to herself before continuing to see to her wounds.
