She moved through the shadows almost as if she were one herself, slipping quietly past the target like the cool breeze flowing through her hair. She smiled as she watched her target wander aimlessly through the tall dark oak trees and around the small creeks. The hunted muttered to himself as we looked up at the now fading sun. "Which way, which way.." Constantly looking over his shoulder with a all knowing feeling... She was out there, but where? He had lost his weapon somewhere in the midst of fighting her earlier in the day, when he ran like a dog with it's tail between it's legs, for that he was ashamed but he could not take it back. She smiled as if she smelled his fear, thus making her adrenaline pump even more through her body like an electric shock, yet she was calm and patient. She had hunted other humans before but this time, it was more complicated, her target... Her own blood, her brother.
"Terra! I know your there, Can you please come out and we can talk about this?" He pleaded almost like a child, frantically begging almost. He knew he had nothing left and was grasping for any slight glimmer of hope. "I'm your brother, not some animal to be hunted... I beg of you, make this my last wish if you must. A condemned man can atleast have that, no?"
A slight smirk begain to cross her face, she knew all to well his games. She waited another few moments to let the anxiety build on him. She knew the pressure he felt, she could feel it herself. She slowly stepped out from behind a tree, merely five steps away from him, and brought her heavy gaze down upon him. He turned quickly to meet her eyes. They stood there for what seemed like an eternity, then he spoke.
"Terra, you do not have to do this." He stepped back a couple of steps to distance himself from her.
"What should I do? Let you go?" She responded harshly and her words were as cold as the water beneath a frozen pond in winter.
"I can leave and never return, I am your brother, Can you live with knowing my blood stained your hands?" He asked, yet he knew the answer. They had been raised to kill without remorse or compassion, but he tried to bide a little more time.
"If" She imphasized the word heavily, "I were to let you go, could you live with the shame and dishonor you have brought to our family?" She knew the words would cut deep enough.
"Is it not better that I suffer for the rest of my life then to be given such an easy way out?" He tried to speak in her terms of thinking, if he could when her over he knew he could be free, but only after he killed her. His eyes darted around and stopped to rest on a large branch, somewhat pointed at the end.
She thought on his words, strategically planning his next move. They both knew death of one would be the only escape. Her facial expression changed almost suddenly, playing into his game she began to speak, "Brayden, You are my brother... I wish.." As she spoke he lunged for the branch and charged her, with much more strength than she had expected due to his attempts of escape and fights throughout the day. She did not fight with all of her strength, she knew soon she would need all that she had left. He raised the branch against her neck, pushing her hard into a tree behind them, He brought his face close to hers, so close she felt his hot heavy breathes against her lips. He looked into her eyes with an evil grin on his face,
"I thought you were smarter then that sister?" He spoke mockingly to her while pulling her own dagger from her belt he brought it up for her to see. "This is the dagger he gave you." She looked at it but said nothing, "The one I should have rightfully been given!" He yelled as he slid it down her chest and to her side. "Say it should have been mine!" He demanded. She still said nothing, her eyes piercing into his. "Still, even when death presents itself to you, you still make a mockery of it!" He looked at her one last time, kissed her forehead softly. "I will miss you, sister." He said as he pierced her side deep with the dagger, bringing it upward slicing deep across her ribs, exposing bone and blood and muscle. "Now the mighty have fallen" He wiped her blood from the dagger, pressing it against her shirt sleeve. Releasing her and watching her fall to the ground, he looked down upon her proudly.
She looked up to him holding her side. "Run, Brayden.... Do not walk and do not turn your back on me." she said looking at her shirt now drenched in blood, like someone spilled a pitcher of it on her.
He smirked and turned around tossing the dagger up and down, leaving her for dead....
He stopped in the middle of the woods after hours of walking in the dark and sat down examining the dagger he used to not only killed his sister, but took unrightfully. The dagger was a sign of many things, favoritism being the biggest among the Brexiano family, usually being given this meant inheriting al the riches and power of the family. He and Terra were twins, so it was a decision made by his father that whomever proved themself worthy, would get it. Terra being dead his father would have to look passed his crimes against the Brexiano name and welcome him home. Their father was sick and dying, he would have no other option. "Welcome home son, I beg thy for forgiveness." He spoke to himself , rehearsing it almost in his mind, and he smiled evily to himself, "Foolish man, you cannot have me killed." He looked up to see the new day beginning and rested his eyes, lounging against a tall oak tree.
The arrow whistled through the air, to Terra it was a beautiful almost lullying sound, but for the target there would be nothing relaxing about it. His body would be wreaked with pain from the poison she applied to the tip. She watched as it glided through the air almost elogantly, swirving in and out of the brown and red leaves falling in the cool fall breeze.
"Papa`, Perdonami" Brayden spoke quickly and stood still, closing his eyes. He knew it was her, he knew he should have stayed and watched her take her last breath, he knew it was meant to be. The arrow struck him in his neck, severing his arteries, he fell to the ground as the poison entered his body, and all to painful feeling. He met Terra's eyes on last time, she spoke clearly,
