The letter is addressed to Morgana Burke, Northridge Manager. The package contains various paintings, sketches, and advertisement posters for events long past.

MiLady Burke,

In passing idle conversation with a gentleman in the employ of Northridge some nights ago, it was brought to my attention that the traffic, and thus paying customers, through your valley may be somewhat less than desirable.

If I may be so bold as to make an assertion, perhaps what your company is in need of is the proper advertising. It was suggested that night that I contact you in regard to discussing this idea, which could be a beneficial opportunity for both of us. I was given your name as a contact for Northridge, by a lady by the name of Avella, in the city of New Haven two nights past.

Enclosed, please find my portfolio as an artist, which contains a sampling of my work. If you find it pleasing, and adequate for such needs, please feel free to contact me at the Gentle Rest Inn, in New Haven, to discuss this modest proposal. I will await your reply.

Carrying her morning coffee, Morgana checks the mail and finds a rather large package with a note attached. She reads the note as she returns to the house, then; standing in the kitchen she opens the package and lays out the various samples of Miss Sinclair’s work, nodding as she examines them. She climbs the stairs to her second floor office and pens the following:



To Miss Shiloh Sinclair

City of New Haven

Miss Sinclair:

I have examined the samples of your work provided and find them to be of very professional quality. Your assumption regarding our company’s need is indeed, accurate. We have found it somewhat difficult to gain a foothold in the Britannia trade business due to the monopolizing, underhanded and price fixing practices of some of the other, longer established, trade institutions that currently have their hands around the throats of Britannia’s citizenry. We feel, however, that this disadvantage can be overcome once word of our quality products, impeccable service and fair pricing spreads beyond our quaint little valley.

I would be most anxious to meet with you regarding an opportunity of employment with our fledgling firm. I would ask, however, that you provide two business and two personal references for our agents to check. As you know, one cannot be too careful in these difficult times.

I will be traveling to New Haven this Wednesday evening. Perhaps we could meet and discuss our options then. I will make a point of stopping by the Gentle Rest Inn around the hour of 9PM to inquire as to your availability.

Should this time not be agreeable please send word and we can make other arrangements.
