Dealthagar tossed a handful of coins into the beggar's bowl and recieved a nod of thanks from the old man. The existence of poor in Nujel'm infuriated him. All he had done to bolster the economy, all the trade initiatives he had enacted, all of the taxation breaks offered to those who lived on the island and maintained businesses within the city, none of it seemed to matter. He had poured millions of his own fortune into the city, and yet his idyllic utopian city failed to blossom. The mercantile grew fat, yet the poor barely eked out an existence.
His anger and discontent grew as he strode through the bazaar to the city palace. The Gargish virtues were for unity, spiritual enlightenment and the building of a communal society. Even when th Awakening had been dark, they were of a single mind, a single goal, a single destiny.
Perhaps that was the crux of it. These merchants, these citizens, they were citizens of Nujel'm, but few were actual keepers of the tenets of Singularity. Greed, avarice and overindulgence ran rife with the rich, feasting on the bones of the programs he had instituted for the poor. Having nowhere else to turn, the poor claimed the Awakening was not doing enough and turne on each other, worsening the strife felt by the disenfranchised. As he entered the palace, the words of his consort echoed in his mind's eye.
"Why would you want to rule over Nujel'm? The city is a pit of misery, cursed to worse damnation than Magincia. It's leaders are either remembered by history as tyrants or fools. Do not do this."
If only he had listened. _________________

Dealthagar gripped the table, sweating, gritting his teeth. He could feel the strain on his thread and every fiber of his being screamed with agony. One of his reflections within the pattern was being torn at, succumbing to entropy.
Its shadow had been more modern than Sosaria. Similar to British's homeworld, but with a higher capability for the arcane. The Oracle grimaced, it had been a dark reflection. More redeemable than the most, but still corrupt. He had encountered this shade at a convocation. Another obsessed with bloodlines and hereditary magics. A technomancer as well. Young, compared to most reflections, he was barely out of his mid twenties.
A flash of memories hit him and he could feel the moment of death. A jagged spear burst through his chest, a realization of betrayal, and looking up into the eyes of his lover, his head in her lap as his life leaked away. He had betrayed her, but in the end, redeemed himself to her. As the light dimmed from his eyes, she rocked him, crying, singing to him, her own magics unable to stem the tide of his bleeding.
I need you Aquarius
Enchanted I will have to stay.
I feel you Aquarius
'cause you the sea set me free
You call to me Aquarius
He cried out as it's final thread unraveled and its essence spread to the continuum. His eyes watered as the memories of it's life filtered into the matrix. it was uncommon for a shadow to meet true death. it had happened a few times, but this one had gotten close to the Prime before meeting the end. The shade had not seen the death coming, and had been unprepared. Regardless, the dissemination of its knowledge to the collective would be useful. it would certainly assist with Ceinwyn's adjustment.
He flared with raw energy as vibrations shook through the entire continuum. The Prime was attempting to intervene, something it rarely did. The effort appeared futile, but the entire pattern was electric as every shade felt the call. As the prime relented, Dealthagar collapsed to the floor from the exertion. He coughed sharply and the coppery taste of blood filled his palate. in the effort by the Prime, several shades had simply "winked out". As one of the oldest reflections, it had never occurred to him that the Prime would simply sacrifice members of the continuum to support others. Intervention was rare, but it had happened before. The return of his eyes were proof of the last time it had happened.
As the Oracle stood, his body protested. Out of the corner of his eye, he caught his own reflection in the glassware on his bench. Quickly pulling a scrying mirror from a box he looked at himself in shock. A wisp of snow white hair cascaded through his cardinal locks. _________________
